    That was an awesome video Jim. I agree that big red ears are a lot more fun to catch than crappie. They put up a good fight for a fish that size. That's why I like going to Havasu in Arizona, cause the red ears in that lake can be over 3 pounds. I didn't see your wife on the video. Looks like she missed out on the fun.

      Fishing Addict How hard is it to find those schools and what water characteristics should I look for, i.e., depth, cover, time of day, etc. Is red ear fishing really better than crappie fishing?😊 Did you look for crappie first in your normal go-to spots? Redbud launch again? Lastly, what is that gray canister sitting on the boat’s floor?

    • @fishingaddict5638
      @fishingaddict5638  4 роки тому +1

      @@aProudOG I always start off with crappies, and if I get bites that I couldn't hook them, my theory is that those will be bluegills/redears because they have smaller mouth to take the crappie lure. I always bring red worms with me; therefore, I would start going for bluegills. This time I launched at the State Park. The gray container is a cooler for my drinks. Its one of those thick ones. My wife got it on sale for $20, and she just couldn't let it go. LOL. Its great, I can sit on it with no worries of being bent.

      Fishing Addict Thanks for always candidly answering my multitude of questions. You have helped me tremendously deciding which NorCal fishing options I should pursue and when. At 73 years old I’ve slowed down and can’t fish as often as I’d like to. Trying to maximize each outing is now more of a priority than it used to be. That said, I glean from your reply here that when the wind is too rough to launch at Clearlake Oaks, it’s worth the extended motor vehicle drive (20 minutes?) around the lake to the other side to launch at the State Park. Is the wind generally more friendly on that side of the lake? Good to know if that’s the case. Again, thank you for your consistent informative videos and replies to all questions regarding same.

    • @fishingaddict5638
      @fishingaddict5638  4 роки тому +1

      You’re very welcome. If the wind comes from west, I would launch at state park or library park. That day I just decided to launch at state park. Got tired going a little farther by myself.
