I hear some negative comments about this guy and so unfair I think Ray has delivered great vocal
He's amazing
ray wilson is doing an incredible job. sad it's so short.
bring back ray! "wilson era"! :-)
What a nice moment - sorry I missed it - kudos to him for a great vocal performance...
Finally a song suited for Rays voice... Tony can play guitar well, most people do not realize just how talented he is. Without Tony Genesis would have been NOTHING.
There were plenty of songs that suited his voice
Beautiful rendition! Wilson IS a young ballad-singing Gabriel...
I remember this so well in helsinki the last date of the Calling all stations tour. Great show and a great band..
Dreadful guitar player!

Ive been a fan of Genesis for years. I started listening to the early 70's albums with Peter probably in the mid 80's - in my early teens. Then Phil of course, but they got too poppy for me in the 90's. (Thats All, Invisible Touch etc; not my Favs even still.) I liked Ray alot and was disappointed that they never did a US tour. I kinda felt they were trying to get back to an earlier time. I dont think the departure of Ray was based on the music, or the writing or even conflict. It was clearly chemistry. There was Mike and Tony, with Ray. It was never Mike, Tony and Ray. The generation gap was clearly there.
This sounds terrific.
I like Peter Gabriel's voice but in this particular song this guy sounds even better.
this is cool
I agree....I loved the band's work w/ Ray. I especially think this song sounds great w/ Ray, as do all of the Gabriel songs, in my opinion. It does seem like he has a bit of trouble with some of the Collins songs. However, I believe Ray to be a much stronger singer, in general, compared to Collins. But, Collins IS my all-time fave drummer.
Nice one Ray keep up the genesis stuff should have made some more albums with you sad
Very good...
The best Genesis music ever
I guess you had to be there.
don't be too hard. It's a mistake to confront them. And then.. i appreciate this work. After Collins left that's the only way to hear them once again. I did buy CAS and I did know that It would be different from the others...
Shades of PG's voice. Not as powerful, but I can see why Banks and Rutherford chose Wilson's voice for the classic stuff.
It's even darker
Beautiful singing right here. Shame the other boys in the band didn't want to start from Square One but I get it.
Please have this guy in big big train....
If they met Ray after Peter left in 74, then he would have probably been their lead singer. And from all the interviews, that would have been just fine with Phil!
Ray was only 6 years old in 1974! 😳
Of course it wasnt possible.. lol. all in imagination perspective! @@kaspervzzzbx
He introduced the Genesis brothers who sadly abandoned ray instead of trying another album with him. They tried one album and didn't bother to think that they needed to do more so the audience would get used to the new vocalist.
He kinda looks like Prince Charming from Shrek.
Yes ha ha
the best performance i have heard!!! best from. Gabriel better than Collins....and the acoustic version it sounds better than then original sound i believe!!!!
Marianna Xenaki wtf are you smoking? You have obviously never seen Genesis perform this live with Peter...
Ray Wilson will be back to the Genesis!!
2009 Is Coming!!
Great Wilson/Genesis Tour 2009 !!!
SPECTRE1961 well...here we are 9 years later...
Well well, here we are 15 years after
It's "Moonlit", not "Moonlight"
Abbreviated version of a classic is always a bitter pill to swallow. I mean, It's must have been a great moment for that crowd to even hear that song in the first place, but then, it had to be really painful when it ended so abruptly. Just about time when they FINALLY started to get ecstatic after about an hour of a rather dull show. The same thing was with "Supper's Ready". It's really bitter. It's like having sex and quitting just before the orgasm...
What a great rendition. The band has little do to with Genesis, in my opinion, but there's no denying that Wilson is a terrific vocalist.
Would had been Better just to actually play the whole song for the first time since 78.
Well, I would like to hear too but the reason they didnt is because Ray would not reach the higher notes from the next part of this song
Viuomar And they need Steve.
@@Viuomar he may not be able to, but that almost certainly wasn’t the reason. Mike has said he regards second part as too flashy.
If you're going to replace Peter Gabriel for anyone else why not the guy from The Musical Box Genesis tribute band? He's shown for years he cares about the smallest detail in every PG era song. This Wilson guy knows he sounds somewhat like Gabriel but I don't think he cares much about the spirit of the songs the original Genesis did.
Did Tony just give Ray "five"?
His voice is closer to Peter's than Phil's. He's got a darker, more dramatic feel whereas Phil is a bit lighter.
Yes, he does Gabriel era songs well. That's why some of those oldies got resurrected.
All right, the point of the game is to pick Peter Gabriel out of a crowd. He'll be dressed in red and white stripes and a snowball cap. Good luck!
I'm feeling Wilson interprets Gabriel songs better than Collins songs.
Wilson was a good singer for Genesis, but after achieving the heights they experienced with Phil, it seems Mike and Tony were not willing to accept a less commercially successful phase.
Music is pretty good, not the best performance I've heard, but good enough. Vocals need improvement.
I just don't feel it....what can i say!
phil came back to put things right :P
donut what planet are you on saying ray is a much stronger singer? hahaha where is ray now? and why did phil come back and do a world tour mate, some people make me laugh on here :P
just a Shame he did not Join Steve Hacketts band is current vocalist is shit
Though it's always a pleasure to hear this classic tune, I honestly think that Ray can't hold a candle to Phil and Peter, with die respect.. he's a nice singer but Genesis is just no place for him at all.
Of course Ray is not Peter or Phil and you can´t imagine him singing "The Battle of Epping Forest" or "All in the Mouse´s Night" (not only because of his limited vocal range but because he doesn´t have the required dose of eccentricity and quirkness for these songs.). But he does a nice and honest job incarnating the more solemn or romantic side of Genesis
@@Viuomar don’t think anyone wants those two songs!
@@cs0rpc anyway, "The Battle of Epping Forest" is a more complex song and with better lyrics. A lot of good musical ideas, but making the listening too much "busy"..
nah, don't bring it back. Terrible....
