So excited!!! Not even hitting my 1 foot spin yet, but we’re close and this is the goal. Thank you for posting always and reaching those of us who afford to get a coach💕
Omg i can relate so much to everything you said about letting fear hold you back! Fear stops me from doing so many tricks and it takes so long to push myself past that point of fear. Feels like i take baby steps with every new trick i learn; but eventually, you have to just go for it; jump with more force and height than usual so you enter a world of physics that is new to you. It's the only way you will ever get good at anything. This is how i feel about getting my axel.
Soooo thankful for this channel and these videos! I’m a self-taught skater, started in January, and thanks to Coach Julia I’ve accomplished so much on the ice! ❤️
@@CoachJulia The only skater that I had seen do a forward illusion was Denise Bielmann. They were always done from a backspin or a or a double 3 turn. When the rules changed people started doing all kinds of spin variations that were not commonly seen.
Thank you for this tutorial!! Illusion into a layback has always been my dream element (even before I knew the terms to describe it)! I just got my scratch and sit spins so hopefully my coach and I will start working on layback soon🤞I’m going to start attempting an illusion asap!
great video!! could you please make a video about how to get over a mental block. i have gotten and lost my loop jump three times and i can’t get myself to jump, i’ll set up for the jump and then my body tenses and i just turn or i will jump and then panic midway land two foot.
Hello, my favorite YT FS Coach Julia! I absolutely love your way of coaching different figures and elements. You’ve helped me tremendously with learning some new moves and polishing the old ones. Thank you so very much for investing your time and skills into creating these videos for us!! I’m hoping one of your future videos will be dedicated to your approach to teaching a butterfly jump and a flying camel - my two dream moves!!! Thank you again! ❤️🙏🏻🌹Elena.
Thanks so much! I'm a clockwise skater, and I do have my splits, but unfortunately, my right side is my harder side in terms of splits. However, this gives me something to work on for fun!
Thanks so much Coach Julia! I've finally tried it today. Although my coach says it'll have to be >135° to count in a program these days. I'm about 105°🤣 will keep working at it.
Good tutorial! My coach and skating friends were debating which hand reaches down. There were individual preferences on that and I am thinking that as long as you are lined up over your skating leg it doesn't matter. I wonder if there's a rationale as to which hand is better to reach with.
Could you go through (maybe on a future video if you need ideas) any differences between wind up entries or where you put your weight on your skate for the various spins? I have a camel, used to have a sit, definitely have a one foot spin and attitude spin (no layback, not even close there), and my scratch spin (crossing legs) can't get. Yet I can get it if I spin the other direction, which I'm told never to ever do, lol; the group ice skating classes I've taken have encouraged counter clockwise spinning, which I have learned, but I am still not convinced that's the right way for me since I can do some things with little practice right away on the other way. Tips on transitions from front to back or flying could be helpful (I don't think I pick enough). I think I'm missing something subtle but basic like "put your weight toe, or put your weight on the ball of your foot." I'm finally starting to feel my backspin now that I am getting higher on my toes...I was trying to do it on the middle of my skate before and fell out immediately. They have backspin as a prerequisite for doing an axel, which I understand now (I have my other 5 singles). Love your videos (I usually watch on my other account).
!!!!!Thanks so much! I also want to know how to do running to enter a spin. It’s a difficult entry actually. If you have sometime available could you make a video about that?🥺🥺🥺
I always thought this was just a fancy camel or flying camel but now I know it has a name! I still am struggling on centering my spins. :( I took all the free skate classes thru 6 and got most of the elements but my spins are never centered. If I hold my edge longer I skid or fall. It doesnt make that tighter heart shape part. I saw someone else's video suggesting doing a second push in your leg as you're going into the three turn so you turn around. Not sure what you think about that? I'm an adult skater, 36, pretty powerful and fast and fit (5'10 185 lb male). I can do a camel and sit but still can't get my leg across on a scratch spin. However I have a very fast and controlled one foot spin I can feel the force in my arms behind fully extended.
Hello coach Julia 💖 I was thinking a while ago if at the age of 16 can I still enhance my flexibility. thank you coach Julia!!!!! hoping for more videos🥰🥰💯💯

Happy to help!
Good Luck, i know how it's hard to be a self-taught in figure skating :') But i'm sure you're a great skater !
I always did illusions from back spins. they make a great exit from a back camel.
Hey! They can definitely be done from back spins! I see that a lot as well. Super cool.

I hope your illusion practice goes well!
I think illusions look so cool! I started working on two foot spins in my classes today, I can’t wait until I get to doing these :))
Keep practicing! If you stick with it you will be able to do these one day.

Awesome that you gave it a try!!!
Can you do a layback and sit spin tutorial?
I will make a note of your interest in those skills!
Yes, please! I too would love to know how you teach these two very important and very beautiful elements!! Thank you in advance!! 🙏🏻🌹😎 Elena.

@@CoachJulia thank you!!!! Coach Julia 💖💖💖
We
Urr…i should just go back to 1 foot spins…
Maybe you will be able to do this one day in the future!
I wonder if anyone got scared that there was a spider on screen when showing my screen name. 😅😅😅
HAH! That is a funny thought.
Love skating, but I hate the Illusion. To me, it is just ugly.
