    This is great. I am 75 and have been skating since I was 5 years old, and this this such a simple and clear way to turn back and then frontwards again. After years of competition, I now just socially skate, and do a little coaching. Great video. Thankyou for the tips that I can pass on to some learners.

      Your journey sounds similar to mine. It’s amazing that there are still moves to learn, I love skating for this reason. I’m always learning. 😎⭐️🤩💕

    I'm 50 and can ice skate, but roller skating is something I always wanted to do ever since I was a child. I just discovered your channel and I find it very useful. Your videos are so good! I haven't ordered my roller skates yet, but I'm about to. I have a question though. If I can already ice skate, will it make it easier for me to learn to roller skate or harder because of certain differences?

    • @Skatie

      💯 will help. I ice skate and find the skills transfer well.

      Thank you,@@Skatie. 🥰 I've been roller skating now for a month and I love it so much! I feel that because I can practise at home, I can already roller skate better after this short time than ice skate after years. Thank you so much for your videos, they really help me.

    Hey katie! I recently unlocked the crazy legs from watching your tutorial but I can't do it in place. Everytime I do it I roll backwards, but I have the movement down. Any tips? Also I love your teaching style and the way you break down all the moves!

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  11 місяців тому +2

      Thank you so much. It could be that you need the push and pull to stay in place. If you watch my dribbles video the crazy legs needs a similar technique.

    Are you skating on slippery floors and are your wheels 96a or higher

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  10 місяців тому

      This is a wooden floor, the wheels I use are very hard these are a 70D so around the equivalent of 115a.

      Take it slow and break it down into the 3 moves. Hold on and do it in place. It’s a great balance and Co-ordination exercise too.

    backward to forward open book transitions are so hard!! ive been practicing it for a year and a half and can only do it slowly.
    my goal is to learn how to turn to forward faster to link all my steps together. it's the stepping out part and learning to trust my outside edge enough to catch me, but often i get caught in the middle almost like a spread eagle! i feel like im trying to step too much in a line when i record myself and watch it back

    • @ping3592
      @ping3592 Рік тому +6

      Oh, so I'm not the only one who's struggling with backward to forward open book turn! Also do it very slowly and still don't feel confident (and a bit wobbly..). Been practising for over a year 😬

      Have you watched my video on turning backwards to forwards? I really break it down. ua-cam.com/video/gjNchIk8_AQ/v-deo.htmlsi=S3YdhF6jGk-v-b3H

      @Skatie i have and it's the video i always come back to! i feel as if i may need someone to coach me in person to help me with confidence. i understand all the mechanics of what goes into this turn, but am still not able to do it fast😞

    • @Kornkitt3n
      @Kornkitt3n Рік тому +3

      @ping3592 it's soooo hard, and the fact some people new to skating can get it so easily!! i can definitely get the turn, but it's with speed that i want! and confidence🙈

      @@Kornkitt3n You might want to try stretching your hips some to make it easier to get into the open book turn.
      Also here are two Skatie videos on edges. It sounds like your confidence on your edges might be where you’re having trouble. Good luck :)

    I used to go skating as a teenager. The only thing I could do was step over my feet to go faster. I never learned to skate backwards, let alone shuffle or 'dance' skating.

      What 7 mm bearings would you recommend in the us?

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  10 місяців тому +1

      Thank you. Bones reds are good if you want a branded set, I tend to use inexpensive generic bearings.

    • @educarrion
      @educarrion 10 місяців тому

      @@Skatie thank you! I saw some generic ones in Amazon but I read some comments that sometimes those are not made for skating. Is that correct?
