Great video, as usual ! The Herdsmen play Paris is an original Vogue recording, Elliot Lawrence is a fantastic composer, arranger, leader, pianist, did thousands of music for mainly TV stations and movies, series, jingles etc. We know him a little because he did some those great Jazz albums you present here, unfortunately for us, I wanted to have uch more of him in Jazz. As far as I know, he's still alive and he's into his 90's now .... ! Eddie Duran was from San Fransisco and super very active since he was 15 years old until his death, played-recorded with every body in Jazz and did a lot of studio work too, very prolific, he recorded a lot with Tjader, Guaraldi, Earl Hines etc etc. He played a lot with Sinatra, Barbara Streisand, etc.

Good evening Dan, how are you doing in this pandemic lunacy? Interesting show as per usual. The one that fascinates me and I have almost nothing of him, is Red Rodney. This white man was asked by Parquer to join his group! He was with Bird from 1949 to 51 ! What's with that ? ! Cheers.

Eddie Durans 'Guitarist' has become one of my favourite records, period. His Guaraldi stuff is awesome..also great on the Getz/Tjader session...kinda loved his playing for years already when I actually got to know him and his solo stuff....later on also great with Tania Maria on Concord. He's a class act and was still playing strong in his f*ing 90s. Thanks as always, Dan!
Btw here is Eddie live in 2015 on KSVY:

Man, you should light those candles and do an episode by candlelight. Blues for Dracula perhaps...

My , my I had no idea that Brubeck released so many many unknown ( to me) titles ; once again Dan embraces and alerts me to the Age of Enlightenment ! And once again I reach for my credit card !! Ouch! Big thanks.

Hi Dan. Sorry but I never really got interested in this early Fantasy stuff, ( except Red Rod) basically because I was too wrapped up buying great jazz LP's coming out of Blue Note , Allantic , Verve and the OJC series I know it's very bad of me but at that time It used to annoy me when UK people who say they like jazz can only name Louis Armstrong, Dave Brubeck and Acker Bilk and maybe Erroll Garner , Count Basie and Duke Ellington!! They never wanted to explore other outstanding musicians that pervade Jazz. And as for Charlie Parker - who the hell is he ? So, very unfairly on my part, I was turned off by Dave Brubeck and Paul Desmond's renown. and never bothered to collect his records. nor those guys like Cal Tjader who I considered were supperclub minor league players. Aside from my prejudices for this music, your Session was very interesting as usual
All the best and keep safe and well. / Steve

Jazz has many forms n spaces to it, as long as you can swing, improvise and emote ...I get what your saying , but Tjader is exactly that....FUN music to have cocktails too, life has those moments!
The desperation of Parker is waaay too much for all but those willing to HEAR IT!
Anyone can hear a Desmond.... these cats did draw people to the music!
