I love your videos! Saguenay is an amazing town! Unfortunately, you stayed and walked around La Baie-which has not much to do. There’s a bus that would have taken you from the cruise port to Saguenay center where there was a lot more to do and see.
per another video (ua-cam.com/video/saLeh9yALIU/v-deo.html) there are lots to do! Well this video talks about the top ten things to do! Happy traveling!!
So sorry that you could not go on the fjord cruise. It's too bad you didn't take the hop-on hop-off bus. There was a fiord museum, and we absolutely loved going to the Chicoutimi Pulp Mill with terrific artwork inside. Maybe someday you can give it another chance.😊
You guys should have taken a cab or uber to the actual city of Saguenay which has a lot more to offer than the area of La Baie, where the ships dock. You would have seen so much more!
So sad to hear you said that Saguenay was not a good port….you know it a very small town and it’s mainly a nature place. And if you are travel agents you should have known that you must reserve before arriving… cruise port don’t have all to be tourists trap will junk souvenirs shops… and the real poutine doesn’t have pull pork, just saying!! Bienvenue au Québec! Welcome to Quebec!
I'm really sorry you didn't get to take the small boat cruise in the fjord. We did that a few years ago and lucked out that we hit the fall colors right at peak season. It was stunningly beautiful. We did book it through the cruise line which we normally try to avoid, but as you found out there didn't appear to be any way to do it independently when we were there. You'll just have to go back! We are hooked on Canada / New England cruises during the fall. We've done 3 so far and I'm sure we'll do more. Love your videos!!
La Baie is top rated, very welcoming locals. We did NewYork to Quebec City because it went to Saguenay which is home to me. The bow of the ship was open when we left and we stopped at the Virgin Mary statue where we got its history. Too bad you did not make it to Chicoutimi...
Two things you missed: St. Alphonse, next to the craft fair; Lady of Saguenay (Notre-Dame-du-Saguenay) statue on the cliffs, starboard side outbound. The salespeople I met in Saguenay were not the seasonal workers that travel with the cruise seasons to Alaska and the Caribbean. I did not see Diamonds International, Señor Frog's, etc. in Saguenay.
I love that you guys include us on your incredible adventures ❤️ thank you glade your boat didn't sink The fall leaves are absolutely beautiful you guys are an amazing couple be safe and take care.
You guys always make the food looks so good. Even the French onion soup! And I do not eat onions at all. I could be eating something and not taste the onion at all, but if I ever see, it in my plate I am through.❤
I am still dreaming about the coq au vin I had in Le Bistro on my cruise in June! Going on another NCL cruise next month, and I cannot wait to order that coq au vin again.
Saguenay was a lovely port when we went last year. It was the only port I booked an excursion through the cruise ship because my research showed that was the best way to see this port. It isn’t a good port to just walk around.
So, back in 2015 on my first cruise, I was on a Bermuda cruise from Boston. It was the Norwegian Dawn and the night we were leaving Bermuda, I guess the stirring system failed and the ship ran aground on the reefs. The ship was stuck there on the reef overnight before they could pull us back into Bermuda the next morning. We ended up getting an extra day in Bermuda because they had to get teams in to inspect the ship's integrity.
Looking at Sanguenay on Google maps, it appears that the main part of town is around the point and further upstream. Could explain why there wasn't much going on where you were.
They have a great theater production which unfortunately runs only until mid-Aug. Duration: About 2 hours Schedule: 7:30 p.m. Season: July 12 to Aug. 19 2023 Location: La Baie municipal theatre This unique historical extravaganza tells Quebec’s history through the notable events of the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region. Discover the lives of the First Nations people on the banks of the great river and their encounters with such famous figures as Jacques Cartier and Champlain. Catch a glimpse of the court of King Francis the 1st and travel through time with canon shots and the Battle of the Plains of Abraham.
I think if you had gone into the main part of town, you might have been able to find a boat cruise that did not require booking through your cruise line.
We love Le Bistro. Don't they have an outstanding mushroom soup as well? We'll be on the Jade in May, broke down and got a suite. Not sure what to expect, as we have friends that joined us late out of the blue, and we have perks they do not. Any suggestions? Long time follower of you two!
Jason, you made me laugh with your “coQ au vin”. I’m French Canadian but live in Florida, you are in my country. I hate poutine but love coQ au vin. Enjoy Québec, it just beautiful and there is a lot to do.
Just did MSC Canadian/New England cruise and all the ports were boring for us. We will never go back. Boston is the only one worth going to but they didn’t stay long enough and stayed too long at boring ports. Thank goodness we have already done land vacations in Boston a few times.
I am not a fan of poutine. Never have been. It doesn’t even look good … to me. That said, take the ingredients and separate them and I might actually like it … deconstruction! 😂

Welcome to Quebec!
so sorry you did not plan ahead and check things out prior to arriving, any port can be boring with no planning

That brewery looked like it was great. They’re logo is awesome. The food looked great too. Sorry you had a meh port. It happens
MSC Seascape had the best French Onion soup I've had at sea!

Looking at those great views of the princess ship makes me want to book a cruise so bad!!

Poutine is very much like British Fish & Chips
Easy to mess up
But fantastic when all the elements line up
NCL French onion soup." Le Bistro as good as it gets"....The best in the world!

I’m finding this cruise series very interesting. Not much ship life, it seems? Mostly about the ports?

LOL! Flex Seal brought my garbage disposal back from the dead.

Great video ❤❤❤❤
I was there September of last year and did a whale watching trip, The fjords are a breeding ground for beluga whales which we did see.

What was your dates - lots to do but as mentioned a bit away
We should have done supper together! This is Fat Man Ken, Hollywood and Jay!

Tons of nothing to do there and at Baie-Comeau the next day!
Poutine is the best!
more research needed?
0:45 “We almost sank” Hard to sink when your boat bottoms out guy. 🤡🤦🏻♂️
