  • Part 2 of 3. Track day at Pacific Raceway in Kent Washington. This video is "after" I was practicing 2 weeks prior in Shelton Washington at the Ridge Motorsports. I'm more confident on this day versus 2 weeks ago. One of my dreams was to get back on the racetrack. 1991 was my last track day on a racetrack in Stillwater Oklahoma at the Hallet Raceway when I worked for the Gebhardt BMW racing team. It feels great to be on the racetrack again. This time on a motorcycle versus a racecar.

If you have a chance here is part 3 link and this one is better. I have front and rear camera this time. At the 12 minute 42 seconds,,, you will see a yellow motorcycle with a rear camera on the tail and I did my best trying to pass him,, but I did catch up on a straight away....❤️🤙🏍️

The track officials that were around the track were hunting me down, looking for the Silver Tupperware bike. They kept calling me out. When I came out of the trailer (recovering from slight heat stroke) they were telling me how surprised they were with my Goldwing... I had to correct them and let them know,,, no, it's a ST1300/Pan European Touring bike. Gotta love this wonderful Honda motorbike. 🏍🤙❤️

I’ll bet! The ST is definitely a wolf in sheep’s clothing! When I first got mine I couldn’t get over how powerful but smooth it is! Also can’t believe Honda has discontinued such a fabulous motorcycle!, Never did understand the “ we’ve got it perfected now let’s stop making it” mentality!
I’m not saying it can’t be improved on , anything can, but with a few very minor tweaks it could again dominate the sport touring market!
It is still tops in my book, comfort, speed and handling are hard to put in the same package, but Honda did it with the ST1300!

Considering the tire compound or lack of track tires for the 1300 this is awesome. I have one. My biggest worry I think would be the brakes and ground clearance. I had the brake lever to the bar once on a CBR900. Not a disaster but very close.

Do you have any riding tips or tricks? Do you lean or do your push down with your foot on the peg to get into a curve?

    • @MotoTouringWorldWide
      @MotoTouringWorldWide  18 днів тому +1

@@kennethrogers1129 ,, hello and thank you for watching. It is mostly based on the lean by first positioning your body to the left or to the right based on the turn.
For example "left turn" coming up, left butt cheek slides to the left, slight movement of body forward, left knee bent and position correctly on the peg, lean into the turn and push the left handlebar away from you, turn eyes left and helmet slightly left, very important to pay attention to the exact location you want to go and Target fixate on that area, as you're going through the turn the left side of your helmet is pretty much touching your left shoulder area. The tighter the turn you're "pushing" the left side handlebar more away and with your right arm your pulling the right side "in" so you're right elbows going towards your right kidney.
Now concentrate on the throttle and the lean, the faster through the turn the more you are leaning and pushing on the left handlebar away from you.
Your foot on the left peg is a resting spot, you're not pushing on it.
I learned all of this watching UA-cam videos on how to handle a motorcycle on the racetrack.
Have you tried UA-cam "Motorcycle riding techniques on the racetrack"?
Also do you have a RaceTrac near you where they allow track time?
Also another great thing to do is a huge abandoned parking lot is to whip your motorcycle around some cones that you've placed out there and learn emergency maneuver techniques
When approaching the cone, make an emergency maneuver around each cone.
I hope this information was useful and let me know how things go if you do have a chance on the racetrack 🤙🤙🏍️🏍️

Hello Alexandr, thank you for watching, great to hear from you again 🏍🏍. On the racetrack I had the tire pressure set to 42 PSI in the front and 42 PSI in the rear. And next time take of your windshield off, it is going to reduce drag and your front wheel is going to be more stable on track. Problem with ST1300 is that the weight balance is more on the rear wheel. On a stock springs at front ST1300 is a disaster on a high speed. Changing stock springs with progressive makes more easier to enjoy such tracks. superbrace.com/products/2263-honda-st1300?variant=13481534918

@@dougjurcich7479 , Hello Doug, my suspension is 100% stock. On the track, I turned in the factory knob and tightened the suspension a little. It's currently sunny here in Seattle. I started some editing on the Before & After Booster Plug video. I plan on doing a couple of sprints on the bike later today to see if there's an improvement on power. I should be done within the next week. :>)

Ever had any issues with the famous “weaving”? Anyway to cure it?

Hello and thank you for watching. Yes, I have experienced the death wobble, but it has been mild on 4 occasions in the past 4 years. I have a video when in Canada of when it happened. See here: ua-cam.com/video/nynLF_Yk3HM/v-deo.html
For me, the wobble will only happen when Solo is with the top box on. The wind goes around your body and slaps the sides of the top box,,, left, right left, right, and causes the death wobble. But goes away when slowing down. When there is a passenger, not wind to slap the top box plus the extra weight. I don't think there is a "cure", other than being aware of it, and slowing down if few MPH, or raising or lowering the windshield and seeing if that helps.
On the racetrack, there are ZERO issues, hence no top box on the track. Thanks again for watching.

@@keithquinn5624 , that is my all-time favorite ride. Also Horseshoe to sunshine coast, to Powell river and then I love heading to Nanaimo. My kids and grandchildren are in Victoria. I have a few videos of my Canadian rides on my Video list.
