  • Model year is 2007. ABS brakes. I had read many reviews on the ST over the years and had always liked the looks, but never made a purchase. Age and arthritis have made it difficult for me to ride much more than a few minutes at a time, on my sport bikes and also forced me to give up racing.
    However, after returning from the longest ride I have had in years, I can tell the ST was the right choice for me. This is due to the riding style which is upright and more relaxed rather than being an effect of the ST in itself. But, I am happy it is in my stall and wanted to share my thoughts for those interested in this bike.

    Own a 2010 st1300, great bike, slight forward lean, comfortable, adjustable seat height, adjustable windshield, non abs, 5 spd, plenty of power, wish it had cruise and 6 spd , honda recommends high octane gas, maintenance is low, shaft drive, motor has a little bit of a wine that some might not like, very smooth though, installed oxford heated grips, wind protection is excellent with windshield all the way up, decent weekend hard detachable bags, bike is quiet, 2 up is comfortable. Pulls very nicely, shifting is not notchy. Valves need adjustment at 16k. Handling is close to rr land. It will carve corners! Very stable at triple digit speeds which it will get to very quickly, about the only negative is the weight, its heavy, center of gravity is excellent, good manuverbily at slow speeds and parking lots, dont really know why they discontinued it, competion is Yamaha fjr1300, Kawasaki concours, moto guzzi norge, bmw r1200rt , triumph trophy, class is sport touring,

      I've had 6 speed cycles.My wing is a 5 speed, and doesn't seem to even need a sixth gear. I would assume that ST1300 would be similar, although I've never ridden one

    Just got a 2006 ST 1300 A. 13,000 miles , one owner and I swear it’s showroom clean. New tires and had the oil changed every 2 k miles , Corbin seat and smuggler rear color matched and I love it so far. Plenty of power. This old bike is a power house for sure and rides like a dream. Great videos you made here , thanks it made me get one. Not many in my city so it stands out real well.

    Get yourself the ram ball, mount and Xgrip, fantastic for holding the phone or GPS.
    That said I mount my cheap Garmin GPS directly on the glass of the instrument panel with a couple of Velcro dots, just below the indicator lights. Solid enough and keeps it out of the weather.

    The beam adjustment moves the complete headlight assembly not just the low beam. I keep my 2004 set at the mid point (4th of the seven positions on the switch).

    Hi, thanks for the interesting articles. I just got a ST1300 with only 16500 klm’s on it, a full service and new Pirelli Angel Gut’s and we are set to go. They are a comfortable nice handling cruiser and the weight disappears when moving.
    Interestingly I also have a GSX-R 750 in the same yellow/black colour scheme, mines a K1 - 2001. I have been looking for some helibars for it, but can’t find any here in OZ. Turn 70 this year so need to take some weight off the wrists.

      @@fixitmyself Thanks, the owner was working as instructor . He installed Wilbers progressive fork springs. The bike drives like a train. No wind influence on a stability. It has only 45.000 miles looks bad ass. Colour same as yours. 👍

If you know.. please post that info.. stay safe and you will LOVE this bike.. in my top 3 bikes I've ever owned..

    Too too much heat pours over the rider off of the st1300,the fjr, and the kaw 1400.. A very clean very low mileage ST 1300 showed up on craigslist last week, the last week in August 2021. I had just sold my GL 1800 Goldwing, and my motor Guzzi norge(Both of which do not pour heat on to the Rider in hot weather) I told the guy selling the ST 1300 that I would not be right back on the test drive. I told him I’d be back in an hour, and I left my Kawasaki Z 400 with him with the keys in the ignition.
    The temperature was about 85°, I had all my gear on, sport bike routes, Kevlar jeans, a well padded with a back protector mesh jacket, deer skin ICON Super duty gloves , swimmers wax earplugs, modular helmet. I headed out of the driveway in this rural community past forms, and large estates on this long Windee road with some tree shade.. about 15 minutes into the test drive, I felt heat on my legs like I was standing in front of my Alvin at home and I had just open the door of the oven while baking a turkey. The ST had those slick foldout highway pegs so, I put my feet out on those highway pegs to get them out from behind the faring, the heat out there was worse because I was in direct line with the heat discharge duct. that was the end of the test drive. I turned around and went right back. I told the guy, how can you ride this thing when the temperature goes above 75°? I can’t do it. Thanks for the test drive, but it ain’t for me. Nice bike, you took care of it, nice solid fuel, very powerful brakes, the motor is not as smooth as I thought it would be, I love the range of the windshield Electric adjustment. But that is not going to make up for riding on an oven.. why can’t Honda deal with the heat on the ST correctly. I had a Honda Pacific coast that I commuted on for 24 years five, or six days a week, 31 mile round-trip on back roads. You could not feel any heat on that motorcycle no matter how hot the weather was, no matter how slow the traffic was. It’s a pity..The only way I could on an ST 1300 is, if I kept another bike for when the temperature goes above 70°, and I would use the ST for when the temperature in the fall and spring it does not go above 60. Then it would be tolerable to have that heat basting me.

    • @fixitmyself
      @fixitmyself  3 роки тому

      I can feel the heat on mine, but not to the degree you have felt it. I just rode mine all morning yesterday in 75+ temps and it was fine for me.

    I have a query regarding the instrument panel if I may... I know the ST displays the fuel consumption rate per 100k's (or miles...) traveled... Query: Does it have a setting where it shows "Range to Empty"? I am thinking of going to an ST next time round...

    And do you have a video how to assemble if I want to buy it?

      The unit came on the bike and there is no name or model on it. Check out this video for a close up. Maybe you can find a match on Google
      I did have to remove the unit to install the heat tape for the grips and it was fairly straightforward.

    Can you suggest heated suits and heated grips for my 2012 ST1300 ?

    • @fixitmyself
      @fixitmyself  3 роки тому

      I don't use a suit, just a heated vest. Nothing fancy, just something bought at a snowmobile dealer years ago. Symtec is the way to go in my opinion for heated grips. I've always used the tape which allows me to keep the original grips.

    • @fixitmyself
      @fixitmyself  3 роки тому

      Ps, the vest needs to be snug. If it's not it doesn't work as well.

    • @Alan-xy2vb
      @Alan-xy2vb 5 років тому

      @@danielhirsch6908 To make it easy to work out in metric they use a muliple of 6000km and for imperial (miles) they use 4,000 miles. 24,000 km for a valve check which is all that it is because rarely do they need the clearance adjusted.
