Who Caught the Secret Ending (^_-)
Who else loves conventions? Also... maybe I should get into Anime lol
Toronto Hangout coming this Saturday! (details over on Twitter/Instagram)
Hi Norm
Love New York but so much to see, would love to go again.
So your brother's like puzzles.
I have been to two anime conversation a Japan hyper festival in London.
Went this year and last year, for hello kitty item's.
🤗😍💙📸👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Wow ... Just thinking it's almost 18 years since I last went to New York ... Makes me feel very old! Of course been to Tokyo many times since then.
I like a good convention although I don't get to go to them enough. (Also like a good (well also not so good (well actually also pretty mediocre)) anime). Although, personally, I don't like ones which are too crowded as it gives me claustrophobia.
Love anime conventions, haven't found one since I moved to Florida though so Renaissance Faires are my life now 😂
Tokyo Lens one of my Favorite conventions is Kawaii Kon in Hawaii!!! If you ever get the chance I highly recommend it! Also check out JCCH you may be able to hold a shamisen event!!!
See you this Saturday in Toronto Norm! ;)
Did anyone else notice Norm had dinner for breakfast, then breakfast for dinner?
Still on tokyo time 😉 lol
"Am I smiling too much? I think I'm smiling too much." Never stop smiling, Norm...your smiles are contagious in the most amazing way! :)
Travel for work is the reason I stay at my job. Don't fall to love with New York too much; Toronto loves you too! Very excited to meet you on Saturday!
Can’t wait!!
Thanks so much 😊
This is the kind of travelvlog I really enjoy… felt as good as the daily vlogs from another prominent UA-camr who used to live in NYC back in the days ;)
I love how incredibly positive you are!
Grateful towards everybody.
Grateful for the meals.
Heavy traffic? Time for a really nice walk.
Horse? Horse.
When you're buying food or checking in and out of the hotel, did you ever catch yourself trying to say it in Japanese there? lol
Definitely agree, everyone needs the space to geek out and just be themselves. It's freeing and fun. I love anime conventions and juggling conventions for that reason.
Juggling blows my mind lol
Love the video and the secret ending! ^_^ English subtitles are corrected now!
That corner room!! Gorgeous!
What a whirlwind trip. I definitely agree that we all need that safe place to fully geek out and have a blast. It’s such a freeing and validating experience.
Inspired and pure greatness video! I enjoyed your enthusiasm. Fun fun video.
Nice vid Norm love the scratching in the music makes it that much more NY!!!!!!
That's too funny; I actually stayed at that Intercontinental before. The views from the rooms are amazing! Hope you had an amazing time in New York and at the anime convention. 🙂
So glad that you were overcome with smiling! glad you enjoyed the con!!! I love anime so Im glad you could enjoy it Norm.
Norm vlogging so naturally in the city! Even regular American vloggers struggle overcoming their fear of vlogging in public here. We have no choice, but to Stan! I’m so glad you had a good time!
Whaaat never thought I'd see Norm visiting my city. I just clicked in but considering your amazing photography and videography skills I cant imagine how good the shots are gonna be!
Great to see you in my neck of the woods Norm. Next time you're in NYC I could show you around.
Always love catching one of your videos as soon as they drop! Wish I could make it to the meetup 😭
You were so close to my gallery so many times in this video! You probably even walked by at some point. Hope you had a nice visit and maybe a TC field trip to NYC soon?
I totally agree. I don't watch anime as much these days, but the one thing I've loved from the beginning are the conventions and how anime fans feel open to express their love for the shows they love!
So, I'm watching this purely because the title is something I totally understand. I've volunteered for an anime convention for the past 7 years and I when I started I had watched a grand total of 2 animes at any length.
Omg I’m so happy to hear that lol
A small part of me thought it was just me lol
@@TokyoLens not at all... many of us just fell in love with con culture. Making a convention the people can come to, feel safe, feel included, and genuinely have a good time. The community is the best and I've made life-long friends!
It's so cool to see you with other big youtubers. Soon enough you'll be at 100k and even at 1mil sub :)
You can never smile too much! ❤️ Awesome video!
Man I am so glad you went to the con and enjoyed it!!!
REINA! 🎉 Dude what a view from that hotel. I’m a large anime fan but don’t get to a lot of conventions.
I totally agree, it's always nice to have a save haven where you can geek out about things you like :)
the way you cut this video and the music perfectly resembles the buzzing of NYC 👌🐝🍎
No way you went to Anime NYC I could have met you! I had no clue glad you enjoyed!
Lol yup! I was there!
Incredible time!
I just adore your way of storytelling and the lil' P.O.V made everything even better✨
Also, it would be lovely if such events were organised where I'm from more often~
Thank you so much
I’m really glad you enjoyed it that much!!
Looking forward to the snacks haul video! ;)
It’s going to be fun for sure~
Ahhh, wish you showed a bit more of the anime convention itself! Saw some really awesome looking cosplays flash by!
That is why I like cosplaying. Making the costumes (the challenges I put my self through!), wearing them and interacting with people at the conventions.
Double knot your shoe laces :) I have to cause my cat unties one as I'm working on the other shoe. Lol
I just had a coworker move to New York and WOW, the views are amazing. I have definitely added it to my destination list
Dude! I didn't know you were gonna be at Anime NYC! I saw that Reina was going to be there. I would have loved to meet up and talk camera. I hope you come back next year and maybe perform for us. I would had loved to show you around NYC.
Love the video, makes me miss NYC a lot! My home town!
NYC Always ready to throw hands when it comes to the best views.
Awesome video, how busy is NY compared to Tokyo? I have always wanted to go to anime conventions though never really had the chance, especially living in Scotland. Can't wait for more videos in Canada! :D
AHHHHHH I hope you get to make it to Anime expo someday it would be cool to meet you in person!
New York defo on the list...great views..great editing and love the scratching soundtrack.
Haha thanks eh!!
Nice video! What about a video with the Yoshida Brothers?
OMFG YOU WENT TO ANYC AND I WASN'T THERE I KNEW I SHOULDVE WENT. crying
Yay! Finally a place I've been to that I could relate well with. I'm from Connecticut, which is about 2 1/2 hrs. away from Manhattan. Times Square is quite the experience huh?? I always need to decompress after being there--I've ventured away from midtown now that I've been there a few times--SO many cool spots to visit. Did you have a favorite place?
Well that was a fancy hotel..the view of the second hotel room was stunning!
I totally agree with you, anime conventions are great! So many people with the same passion gather in one place and have a good time, i remember my first convention, it was almost magical lol Also how did you not get lost on your 20km bike ride??
Those urban views are spectacular, certainly lucked out on the corner room!
That green roof looks really familiar. I swear I see it out of Bernadette Banner's window all the time. lol That looks really delicious though Norm. Have you ever had that happen? Where something looks so delicious, but then is just sad.
C2E2 in Chicago is a great combo convention. I've never been to Acen, but it's on a to-do list.
I love Anime Conventions until it becomes "LineCon" lol. That holster looks so cool! Keep batteries and accessories in there! Genius!
LineCon 😂
Just be careful. Someone could mistake it for carrying a gun or other type of weapon. Definitely not a good thing in certain places or situations...
A 13-mile bike ride is not a trivial thing. That's outta town a bit. Aaaand. Hong Kong Taylor just opened a fashion and lifestyle site. Good work there. I haven't been to the Yawk in decades. I guess there's a reason the Casey liked the place for a while.
I can totally feel you on this video. A couple years back now I went to a Hatsune Miku concert in Toronto and, as she doesn't come around too often, it was more of a convention than just a concert. I liked a decent amount of Miku and vocaloid songs prior to going but I don't know if I would call myself out as a fan. The vibe at the concert, though, was just so warm and electric. There was such a tangible shared passion amongst such a warm, friendly community that I couldn't help but get swept up in it all too. I still don't know if I would say I'm a huge Miku fan, certainly not as much as the other folks at the show, but I do know that next time she comes to this neck of the woods I'm definitely going to see the show again.
:o I live in North Carolina now. Hoping I can check out some cons next year
Perhaps I should check out a con of sorts. I do love seeing people in their elements. As for NYC I do love road trip weekend getaways there. Nothing like NYC!
Is it weird that when you said "thank you very much" to that hot dog vendor I expected to hear you say "arigato gozaimasu". 🤣
I should have went. I work right across from Midtown Comics in Time Square. NY pizza is always the best
I love going to anime conventions, though I tend to go for the more Japanese cultural related panels and such. I usually take the opportunity to wear the kimono I own (also purchased at anime cons since it's hard to find kimono in New Hampshire!), and I love going to the history and cultural panels more than anything.
But I also love seeing all the hard work Tha goes into everyone's costumes! My husband made a Catbus from "My Neighbor Totoro" a few years ago by 3D printing the skeleton and piecing it together before covering it in fur. Had working lights and everything! He then dressed up in a racing suit and helmet and proceeded to "drive" the Catbus around Anime Boston! photos.app.goo.gl/CKgk8m7MUwWie6r29
Always glad to see you having fun! I've been to NYC technically 2 times, but one was a school day trip to the museum (fine art class), and the other was working a knitting con! (Yes those are a thing!), I saw the inside of the hotel on the 2nd one because I was vending, so much for being next to Times Square!
I COULDN’T MAKE IT TO ANIME NYC BUT YOU WERE THERE!!! the world working against me yet again
Anime NYC 2019? You lucky bastard. XD I'd have loved to have gone to that one.
Tokyo Lens Journey Across NYC. You would have been a great guest rider with Chris Broad last year.
Man that view, both of the rooms, are just amazing, photogenic 120%
So Norm, how much did you gain with all that NY food ;)
Lol not nearly as much as I’ve gained here in Canada 😂
Back to that onigiri and natto diet back in Japan then ha ha
Hi, Norm I hope you had good time in nyc. I'll be leaving nyc for Hawai'i soon, hopefully when I arrive to Japan we can meet one day. 👍
1:33 You sounded so sad here without your coffee lol.
Loves the conventions, but doesn't really watch anime. Seems rational to me...
Honestly, everything you feature is so fascinating. Your enthusiasm is so infectious. I hope they never find a cure! :--)
Someone needs to make a T-shirt that reads "GEEK OUT TO THE MAX!"
Lol the Norm-isms t-shirt series
@@TokyoLens "Gopher It!" as they say in Saskatchewan! :-)
Holy f***. As a man from the countryside i would not be able to fit in this city life. Too much people and too chaotic. But in one way truly exciting and fascinating.
Big respect for those who can live there.
Greetings from Germany :)
New York City is like Tokyo and an amazing place. I just returned my ivideo wifi as I am leaving Tokyo today and have to say it is the best deal on wifi. Thanks for the tip 👍
Aaaaaaayyyyyy! Hope I can get this in before my morning meeting!
Go go gooooo!!!
Just made it! ✌️😎
type beast yesssss!
Anime is like lowkey half my life lol. And conventions are always fun
2:17 you got to hang out with Misty that is so awesome! :D
So glad you went on the Vessel sculpture, think its closed now
You’re in NY, my neck of the woods! The only anime I watch is Pokémon
It is not hard to fall in love with NYC. I grew up in NJ and the city is about 45 minutes to an hour away. Everytime I go in, I love it. Oh if you love camera, come back to the States in October for javitts photo expo. It is awesome!
I genuinely cannot wait to get back to NYC
Thanks for the tip on Javitts!!
You'll find the same about kemono/furry conventions too :D A safe place to geek out and admire awesome cosplays/fursuits/dresses and performers/artists/merch.
New video! You know what to do!!
🔥
Just wondering, could you do a video on Tokyo Dome City? I'm going there for Wrestle Kingdom on January 4
OMG it’s Reina!
Happy Holidays!
Ah the nostalgia of hot dogs on a chilly NYC afternoon. Such a great city for aimless exploring ^_^
Seriously is
Can’t wait to get back and explore more
Tokyo Lens Same here ✨
2nd time you are uploading a video just before I check :P
Timing!!
Eating Pizza in the morning? Living the dream 😂
Gaijin Goomba in Tokyo Lens... Cool!
Reina!!
Looks very different to Japan. Thank you for shering.
I naturally feel Anime is one of the expressive methods.
Can we expect you at Comiket this December?
I didn't realize that you were at anime nyc ;-;
I visited Today a Games Convention in Lisbon, Portugal but i was a bit dissapointed because not really something new to Discover. I knew the most Games already the Best Part was the Merchandise and the Japanese Snacks. I got some Pocky, Mochi and Poccari Sweat :)
Very nice purchase decisions!!
I'm no anime otaku, but I'd love to attend an anime convention.
Fun Video.
This is fucking awesome!!! Love anime convention
I think this is my favourite video of yours.
Awww really?
🔥
man it's been a hot minute since ive gone to a convention. Met my wife at otakon 2016. L3
Enjoyed so much the video, but, lefted me there wanting for more!!!😀 No images (or so little!!!)of inside the convention! We're you able to film? And the people? I'm sure you met and talked to cool people, would have like to see that, etc., etc.....Yours rooms were "Grandiose! " And that wiew!!! New York is special and precious...And the Newyorkers, most of the time (and to my surprise), are SO kind.
Happy that you love this city!!!
I was at the convention to work 😊
Not appropriate to be filming for my own vlog during work lol 😉
But I really loved NYC!!
Can’t wait to get back~
Thank you so much!!
Watched! ✈🎌
The moment when the guy said last year he only did 2 cons and that was the fewest he's ever done... and this video was posted in late 2019 😬😭
enjoy NYC norm!
Thank you 😊
Very nice .... Waiting for your videos.... Pls upload them and make sure they should be long...... We love to watch ur long videos... 😍😍😍
Patreon.com/TokyoLens
Did you ever try to watch anime ? There are many genres of anime .
I’ve watched in the past! 😊
Wow! I kinda expected NYC to be different than in the movies... well... apparently I was wrong! :D
I was only on one anime convention in my life (in 2012), it was rather small as it was its first appearance (unfortunately for them, they gave up like 2 years later). It was a really amazing experience, I still have photos form that day and I remember most of the things, that I've seen. People were so friendly and the atmosphere was so cool, that I didn't want to leave... :c
Looks like fun. I live in Ohio and have yet to get to NY.
Did you cross paths with Hideo Kojima in NY?
Conventions are amazing!
