This is a great interview. Some of the things you mentioned, I remember reading the book "The Happiness Trap" and hearing it from you brings it up close, so I can comprehended it easily. I get sweaty palms too and it annoys me but still trying to find a solution to manage that situation in my life. Thank you Dr: Russ Harris. The best 30 minutes I've spent in long time. Regards Andrew Laggner.
Thank you ... what a great interview and simply amazing ... just need to finish the last few pages of the book. Please keep it up and thank you very much.
Brilliant presentation of ACT. I'm going to recommend it to my clients. Clear definitions and explanation. Best 30 minutes I spent today - and it saved me a long trip to Aussie Land. Thanks Russ, (Henry Steinberger)
Dear Humour Australia :), I would like to say, thank you, to you, for taking the time and effort to both upload and share this video, with the youtube family :). I would like to wish you, a healthy, safe, generous, lovely and wise day, mate! :) Kind Regards Ray :) (Love from Australia, Sydney) :)
The concepts behind ACT changed my life. They are so down-to-earth and yet so utterly profound. Although CBT is helpful, I feel that it leans toward wishfull thinking a little too much. ACT on the other hand simply drags you right into the dragon's den and forces you to confront the beast head-on!
This man is like the Pope or the Dalai Lama to me - I've been doing ACT for a few years now for depression, social anxiety disorder and body dysmorphic disorder, and although I still meet some of the criteria for those disorders, I don't think I've ever felt more at peace with myself. Also, it was nice to hear Russ talk about writing! I'm procrastinating right now when I should be writing my thesis...but I'm about to close UA-cam and take a leaf out of his book and just get on with it!!
mauerbluemchen0 I just bought the book " the confidence gap". I'm excited to read and get into it. I am curious to see how you are now 4 years later from practising ACT therapy? I suffer from all the above as well.
We need to say 'de-fuse' clearly, not 'diffuse' which is what it often sounds like and which causes confusion. When you first ignore or defy the demons, be prepared for them to escalate before they extinguish
Zara...This segment was really incredible because you drew from an abundant well of experience and understanding yourself. I got a lot of of this because of the articulate way you posed questions and the intelligent way you guided this fascinating gray matter four feet from you. This is far from hard news, but you strike me as a skilled journalist who just happens to have a certain charm that works for the medium of video.
Thank you Bill, we'll pass that onto Zara for you. She is an exceptional interviewer, having spent many years in breakfast radio and now in corporate conferencing and facilitation. Please follow us @HumourAustralia on Facebook and Twitter
I just want to say thank you to the creators and experts of act for showing these marvelous concepts to us, I have read a lot about it, even RFT, a real way to engage with life, it should be taught all over the world!! and the great thing is that you learn about ACT as a way of life and learn more from it each day, since contrary to the rest of "solutions of life in 20 pages" out there, this is about real experience, no magic no perfect life, just real life with different eyes
What a great guy and a great writer. Very inspirational video. Thanks.
