My first mod was to fit a Pirate Racing gear change detent return spring. I've never hit a false neutral since. Small screen, tail tidy (EvoTech), black levers (I carry the standard levers as spares under the seat), removed the pillion pegs, single seat cowl. Extended the rear hugger below the swinging arm to stop the suspension linkage getting covered in road dirt. I've stopped there for now....
@@patshmear10101 Yes! 5th to 6th was the most frequent false neutral. I don't think I've missed a single gear since fitting the spring. Getting the gear lever positioned at just the right angle for your foot helps too. I've got some aftermarket footrests fitted which has smoothed things out. Warning: the return spring is a bit of a faff to fit, but obviously worth it.
I love the Duke. Mine is a 14 as well. It's got an Akrapovic exhaust, K&N air filter (opened up airbox), a high performance cam (dealer installed), and a Power Sports seat (really nice). I installed the shift fix, it involves a new Detent arm and stiffer spring. Which Conti's did you put on yours? I'm going to try that, it sounds better. Thanks Dave-RS
I don't remember which Continentals I put on it at first, but it currently has the Conti Road Attack 3 tires, & they're an awesome all-around tire! ...soft sticky edges, but I got almost 10k commuting miles on my last set before the rear wore out!!! Freaking amazing! ...& good tread for the rain too! I've heard the guys in Europe love them! Peace bro!
Mine is almost bone stock. Bigger sprocket on the back helps with acceleration and if you keep the chain it shortens the bike a bit. Tail tidy and the Power Parts seat. I didn't want that, but I dropped my bike on top of my exc and the seat was ripped by the pegs, so I had to replace them.... Many people put hand guards, but I don't think they belong on the Duke. LED bulb in the front. That's it. My 690 Enduro though is pimped totally with exhaust and all the carbon fiber and orange aluminium bits. But that's more for functionality/weight. I have forged levers that are shorter as I 1-finger brake/clutch all the time (off road/MTB side-effect).... and the "racing" bar ends that have these useless little sticks on them that are supposed to protect your levers, but they are just expensive flimsy KTM plastic IMHO. :)
That's an awesome list of mods! Everyone I talk to with a Duke has lowered the gearing, & a lot of the 701 Supermoto guys do the same! Thanks for watching & leaving a comment!
@@drummerdavemax I forgot the Track Pack... That should have been included with the bike. 2017 and up you cannot disable the ABS. No traction control, ABS on only on the front. I assume on your bike it is like on my Enduro: hold ABS button every time, or get the "dongle".... BTW... yes, I don't have the dongle, so every time I want ABS off I have to go to the menu and kill it. PITA..
Instead of going with a big sprocket at the back, you could just change to a smaller front sprocket. For example going from 16 -> 15 you dont even need to change the chain.

Those were the stock mirrors off my Beta 500 street legal dirt bike. I'm not sure of the height & can't measure them because I changed it a while back. They have that hinge so you can flip them inward, down flat for off-roading. ✌️
so if i got a 2014 690 with full arrow exhaust and stage 2 filter do ineed power commander? previous owner said the ecu was flashed by p3 tuning but the website says you can only buy power commander
@@ItsCheechFool If they say it was flashed, either they're lying or maybe it is, no way of knowing for sure I guess ...but if it's not running smooth, or dying at idle then something isn't right! There's a guy on Ebay selling those plug-in mods named kevxtx, he's in Australia. I think that's a better way to go so you don't have to reflash your ECU. But I think no matter what, in order for your bike to run right with that stage 2 air filter and exhaust it needs to be richened up, one way or another! Peace!
@@drummerdavemax yeah I bought new injector will be in this week but everything else fuel spark related is new changed and done. Would me having a stock ecu make my setup not run though? I guess that’s my question. Would a stock ecu with my setup pretty much make my bike run for 5 miles then start bogging loss of power . Then after that you try to idle it and it will crank fire but then die

I know this is an old post but did you ever experience false neutrals between 5th and 6th, and if so did the new return spring help with that as well?
