@@torrok0118 Andrew Yang's UBI is a terrible idea. There's a reason Milton Friedman supported a UBI of this style (to get rid of the welfare state). Here's why: Yang is a Libertarian Trojan Horse. If you go on his website, you will see that his position on the UBI is that those on welfare have a choice between that or the UBI, so when he says otherwise in public he is lying. So because of this, it becomes a class issue with the rich able to get it no problem but the poor can't because many need the welfare systems or need to split the two and can't. He has also said on Rave Dubin's show that it would lead to removing welfare in the future. Quote from his website as proof: "1. Current spending. We currently spend between $500 and $600 billion a year on welfare programs, food stamps, disability and the like. This reduces the cost of the Freedom Dividend because people already receiving benefits would have a choice but would be ineligible to receive the full $1,000 in addition to current benefits." He also doesn't advocate for taxing the rich enough to pay for it, and instead advocates for a VAT (Value Added Tax), which only the poor because it takes a larger percentage of their income. Another quote from his website: "SSDI [Social Security Disability Insurance] is based on earned work credits. SSI [More disability Social Security] is a means-tested program. You can collect both SSDI and the Freedom Dividend. Most people who are legally disabled receive both SSDI and SSI. Under the Freedom Dividend, those who are legally disabled would have a choice between collecting SSDI and the Freedom Dividend, or collecting SSDI and SSI, whichever is more generous." This shows that those with disability income will need their Social Security and won't be able to get the UBI as well because the Social Security benefits are better. If you want a true progressive vote Bernie 2020 because he will bring us medicare for all, student debt relief, college for all, helpful union legislation, a raise in the minimum wage, a climate bill that is the most ambitious out there, and a foreign policy that far exceeds any other candidate.
@@cftpafan A lot of welfare recipients are getting $3,000 a month. They just wont opt into UBI. UBI is inevitable and it has to start somewhere. $1000 does appear to be something we can afford. This amount is tied to technology. As we improve with AI and Automation, the costs savings will increase. Next we can afford $1500, then $2000. We all should be sharing the benefits of technology. Are people going to quit their job with an extra $1000 a month? Probably not but it's going to make an incredible difference to sooo many people. The super rich love tax cuts but they wont care that much about 1k a month. This is basically a tax cut that targets the right people.

If all journalists approached Bernie with integrity and respect like Krystal Ball, we would have more faith in media. Thank you, Krystal. And thank you, Bernie.
@Click Bait Barack Obama intervenes to make sure other candidates dropped out so Biden (who had not even received any delegates) could eek out a result. Then once he had one win (to Bernies 4 states). The media machine worked overtime to drone on and on about how only Biden could be Trump. The Democratic Party simply cannot afford to have a candidate in the White House that is devoted to getting money out of politics
We will if we are actually heard!!! If the DNC decides to steal it from the American people and put out a puppet instead , I believe that we will take it to the streets!

It has strongly struck me more than once, deeply, to the point of actual tears, that in my lifetime (and I'm ollllld) I might actually be able to feel proud of my country for electing a principled president -- that I might actually be able to get behind the ideals of my own country, my own president, for pretty much the first time in my life (Obama was short con, a fraud that immediately unraveled as soon as rubber hit road. We have the history to know Bernie IS what he SAYS he is -- no bait-&-switch). It's stirring at a deep emotional level, for me... but I experienced this in pure form in 2016, before it was overcome by crushing disappointment in the electorate that year for failing to cut through the media fog and realize what a historic opportunity was right there in our grasp, instead falling for incredibly fatuous astroturf Correct The Record trolling, utterly transparent corporate-media rehashings of debunked Bernie tropes and incessant "Hillary is inevitable" cheerleading a sharp 3-year-old should see through. When the inevitable Clinton-chickens-coming-home-to-roost abject failure was re-framed as the "Russians stole it" idiocy -- with the apparent buy-in of 70% of Dems -- I thought that feeling of the possibility of pride had been premature, illusory and temporary, and thought it would be a long cold haul before I ever hoped like that again. Not often you get a chance to re-do a critical historical fork just four years later. ;)

@@sadjohnny6120 Are you from Europe? I'm not from Europe or the US, but I still think the bernie is to the left in the worldwide spectrum (not radically left like the US sometimes thinks)
bricksandhammers to me he is radical in Europe in that the right only accepts healthcare because it would be suicidal to run 9n abolishing and they need to control other aspects of the public sphere conservatively. So if Bernie was in Europe he would want to nationalise something that isn’t widely nationalised already, but he’s in the US context and healthcare is the most important place to start. In terms of his pure beliefs he definitely is fairly radical if put into a European context. Regardless of context the green new deal is one universally radical policy around the world.
He is a typical VIRGO we don't brag on ourselves but VERY confident of course. Our love is for all HUMANITY not just a few. Mother Teresa is another perfect example of the VIRGO WOMAN.

Bill I don't know if he's actually dumb enough to believe things work like he says they do or he's doing the ultimate pander to ignorant Americans. You don't just automatically have everyone go to work for 15 dollars an hour and have a productive society. A large proportion of society is very unproductive and would bankrupt the nation. If you've ever been a manager, you know how people are. I guess his supporters want the country to be the next USSR. Luckily, enough people are smart enough not to elect this guy.
Alex P I’m open to yang, I think he’d make a good president down the road. Bernie has proven himself to me and he will clear the path if you will for a yang like president
Take a look at Andrew Yang, he is seriously smart and I have no doubt Bernie will be one of the front runner, but I’d definitely look into Andrew Yang and give him a boost. I really can see Andrew Yang beating Trump. Bernie is like my safe pick but Andrew man.
Um, Bernie has been a front runner for 4 years now, and had the electoral process been fair and just, he would be our president right now. Andrew Yang can sit down with his freedom dividend. Bernie is trying to save the freaking world.
Bret McCarty actually freedom dividend would help everybody. I recommend you start with the Joe Rogan interview which covers many questions and solutions. Very compelling stuff. I like Bernie but he’s not converting trump voters. It’ll be like 2016 losing by electoral votes. To beat trump you need to unite the country.
Diné Adams the idea of the UBI is to put the power of spending in the people’s hands, no string attached so yeah it’s a given that it’s nobodies business how they spend their dividend. Trust me, folks will learn real quick that $1000 isn’t going to cut it, however it may put a job applicant in a hotel, hot shower and even got him some proper attire for job interviews. Maybe helped a freelancer who can focus on his or her goals. A parent who is at home caring for his or her children while another parent is working. The worker who recently lost his or her job. Poor communities who literally have zero capital to take him or her places. The list runs deep. But again take the time to tune into his Joe Rogan interviews and many more. Andrew Yang even went head to head with Ben Shapiro and was on Fox News multiple times, I don’t see Andrew Yang cracking under pressure.
Taylor Lynn #NotMeUs Bernie can’t save you unless you first decide to save yourselves. And you are doing that, one of the most amazing things learned out of Iowa was the people who volunteered to go door to door for Bernie and did so in an organized and kind manner, speaking to people in their language and as fellow workers. And Bernie received the most votes to send delegates, at least in part because the last time your people tried to save themselves by getting changes to keep better records, which has helped shine a light on just how the caucus system needs replacing with a ranked vote like Single Transferable Vote that would proportionally distribute the representatives directly from your votes. You give your neighbours to the North in Canada hope and even a bit of envy if you get Universal Healthcare that includes Dental by continuing to save yourselves by getting your people in the Senate and Supreme Court so that this movement can outlast the considerate Bernie Sanders.

@@williambradshaw7220 Actually, with the shut-down and active campaigning anyway not possible, Bernie (as was stated in a video he did at the time) remained in the race but suspended his campaign to focus on helping the most vulnerable survive lock-down, with his campaign raising money for volunteer groups helping the elderly, disabled and others, bringing groceries and the feeling that somebody cares for them and the like, and holding such as videoed round-tables bringing on experts with the intent to to inform and reassure people. I recall seeing first one propaganda headline on a site where this sort of thing would be expected, to be carried also by others of the kind, claiming that Bernie had dropped out of the race, to see Jimmy Dore falling for the propaganda - without even checking into it - while accusing Bernie of wlmping out to betray and abandon people, and, (as with others I saw doing the same, here and there,) I posted the facts and the links I had at the time to no avail, either there or on other sites with other's I'd thought Progs and responsible journalists. Bernie was still on the ticket, which is why they had to squeeze him out so as to more plausibly pretend that Gropey-Joe had been suddenly in public demand for the nomination for the first time in any of his failed attempts at the Presidency. Bernie has always been focussed on helping others in any way he can and that's something that has never changed. But that also goes with the fact that he always keeps his word, no matter what the personal cost, because that's part of the package, as with his attempts to stay in a position where at least he keeps one consistent fighter - himself - in a position to at least try for some aspect of some public good in a swamp filled with monsters galore.

How will it help single mothers who already make $15/h or more and still struggle to pay the bills? @@jennc878 Yeah I've known about Yang since he did an interview with Sam Harris like last year. I like him and I think he's got a lot of really good policies. Him and Bernie are definitely the most genuine candidates out of everybody running. The reason I'm leaning towards Bernie is because he's been in politics for so long that you know where he stands on all the major issues. What's more is that he's been consistently fighting for these issues since he's been in office. While I do like Yang, I'm a little concerned that he has no political experience. By no means is he at all like Trump, but I'd prefer to have someone who does have this experience. Plus my problem with Yang's flagship UBI proposal is that the $1000/month isn't supplemental to people who already rely on social welfare programs. It caps out at $1000, and I'm not sure that I agree with that.
@@patrick1580 Yeah I totally get that and I can respect it. I agree, at first I would've liked it to be just applicable to the lower and middle class and have it be on top of welfare programs to really help those struggling and I still kinda do but it's still helpful and more than most people in poverty get. That being said, it has more of a chance of passing if it applies to every single American, well off or not, cause it's not seen necessarily as another welfare handout that Republicans are typically against. I've been reading stories of people on welfare themselves and they don't get nearly as much as $1k a month worth in help and would rather trade it in for the freedom dividend, a lot of people sell items they get on welfare for the cash anyway. The issue with welfare programs as well is that it's just a system that keeps the poor, poor. If you make a cent over the threshold to qualify for welfare you no longer get that assistance anymore and it's not like that person is so much better off now to not need assistance. My family and I were once in that position where we were scared to do better because we wouldn't get government assistance we needed. The $1k is unconditional, so you can do better and not be afraid of doing better because you'll have that $1k to assist you no matter what and even more if you have family with more than 1 adult. It will also make people more generous I think. Personally, once I pay off my debts and get myself in a better financial position I'd be more than happy to share my freedom dividend with someone who needs it more, so in that sense there will be more money and opportunity to help those in need. And I know people who would run programs to feed those who aren't as fortunate so the assistance will be there, just maybe not in the form of government welfare. Yang is also not against raising it to $2k later on once the need for it increases because of less jobs so that would drastically help those in need get off the streets and at least have a place to live and food on the table. What I like about UBI vs Bernie's plans is it helps a wider range of people. It helps homeless people and felons who have a hard time getting a job and it also pays mothers and caretakers for their work and gives them more income without having to forfeit raising their kids and have to work instead to provide. The UBI isn't going to magically fix everything, it's just a step and you have to think about the fact that it's helping people that would otherwise not get the help. Just because it's not perfect and not enough to lift someone out of poverty right away, doesn't mean it's not a good thing and won't help people live a better life than they currently do. UBI also gives people bargaining power with employers. If people aren't so self reliant on a job that underpays them they can turn down offers and ask for better pay since they won't feel like they're losing everything doing so. Employers will need to treat their employees better and pay them better or they'll just get employed elsewhere. I feel like the $15 national minimum wage won't help much because the worth of it is so different across states. In the midwestern states that's a lot of money compared to California where I live and it can damage small businesses. There's also the fact that a lot of people already make $15 or more and are still struggling and don't qualify for welfare programs so what is that going to do for them? I appreciate your thoughtful reply and for being so open minded. It's definitely nice to see! Bernie is my second choice from the democrats so I agree there :)

Bernie is seriously the only candidate that isn't bought by corporations, has policies that actually make sense and had the backing to get those policies pushed through if republicans wish to stand in the way of progress.
Do you realise a 15 dollar national minimum wage supports not only corporations but wage/labor slave mentality. Dont be deceived this guy is all about corporations. 15 minimum wage destroys the middle class and small buisnesses.
@@karalas you do realize that $15/hr is not locked in. Bernie supports the minimum moving up with the cost of living. But please enlighten me on how it promotes corporations and wage/slave mentality?
@@VorboteDesKrieg so plug your ears is the answer. However i will reask my questions regardless. I am a sensible man in fact I was shown I was wrong about an issue in a comment on this video acknowledged it and thanked the person. Plugging your ears is never the solution. Discourse is. What does a national minimum wage do to the middle class? Imagine your living in a state with a 7.50 minimum wage (I dont think any state is that low but for ease let's use that number) you are a mechanic making 15 an hour. Minimum wage goes up to 15. That 7.50 burger flipper now makes as much as you. In order for you to keep your stake your employer would have to raise you up to 30 an hour. What company is not only going to give a 100% raise to its bottom employees but also to all mid ranking employees? Now if McDonalds has to pay everyone 15 an hour. How much does your bigmac cost so McDonalds can keep its profit margin. (No I don't actually eat McDonalds that stuff is nasty) Lastly your a small buisness most of which make no profit their first year of operation. Your struggling to get by and you suddenly have to double your employees wages. How do you stay in buisness? National minimum wage increase do nothing but move the poverty line closer to the middle class as inflation occurs to match the new minimum wage. All that happens as those 15$ mechanics only get a three or four dollar increase (if they are lucky) is less breathing room for them.
Bernie is absolutely correct, disparity has given rise to both Trump and Brexit and other manifestations, and most of hte people who voted for these have no idea why...
Yeah he was spot on there! They all address the discontent people have. Illegal immigration IS something a lot of people don't want! That doesn't make you RACIST..... Hope he gets far but Yang ftw! 🥰👍
@Andy M Your are not correct on several points and are repeating Brexit talking points. Please note that my academic background is political comparative analysis and macro economics with a keen interest in both the trump and brexit economies. Firstly, the Euro zone has a marginal debt to gdp ration of 85%. The UK has a marginal debt to gdp ration of 85%. Leaving is not possible so long as the UK respects the belfast accord or cut NI free from the UK. Trade deals with other countries will not replace the EU as the UK's largest trading partner, while still having to respect EU standards. From this perspective alone, Brexit makes no sense whatsoever. The Eu is a sinking ship? Are you not aware of the massive flight of capital from the UK since the referendum? One hundred billion pounds(!) are now offshore, as compared to a net loss of 2 billion in the 9 months leading up to the referendum. Brexit has costed the UK economy enormously with real cash flow exit and permanent well paying jobs evaporating. Coupled with the devaluation of the pound for a country that imports 0.7 ratio to exports will mean a real life depreciation in living standards. And wait fot the WTO tarifs to hit. I can go on much more if you want, but from an economic perspective, Brexit is a disaster and a no deal brexit will be calametous...

@@torrok0118 Andrew Yang's UBI is a terrible idea. There's a reason Milton Friedman supported a UBI of this style (to get rid of the welfare state). Here's why:
Yang is a Libertarian Trojan Horse.
Quote from his website as proof:
"1. Current spending. We currently spend between $500 and $600 billion a year on welfare programs, food stamps, disability and the like. This reduces the cost of the Freedom Dividend because people already receiving benefits would have a choice but would be ineligible to receive the full $1,000 in addition to current benefits."
He also doesn't advocate for taxing the rich enough to pay for it, and instead advocates for a VAT (Value Added Tax), which only the poor because it takes a larger percentage of their income.
Another quote from his website: "SSDI [Social Security Disability Insurance] is based on earned work credits. SSI [More disability Social Security] is a means-tested program. You can collect both SSDI and the Freedom Dividend. Most people who are legally disabled receive both SSDI and SSI. Under the Freedom Dividend, those who are legally disabled would have a choice between collecting SSDI and the Freedom Dividend, or collecting SSDI and SSI, whichever is more generous."
This shows that those with disability income will need their Social Security and won't be able to get the UBI as well because the Social Security benefits are better.

I’d be so proud to call him my president.
And so it shall be, Megan!
Not often you get a chance to re-do a critical historical fork just four years later. ;)

bricksandhammers to me he is radical in Europe in that the right only accepts healthcare because it would be suicidal to run 9n abolishing and they need to control other aspects of the public sphere conservatively.

He's not a politician, he's a leader.

Imagine Trump or Biden trying to hold that detailed of a conversation for that long.
Bernie save us!
Don't you love how Trump can just say gibberish over the pulpit and Bernie has to save the world in 8 years?
@@DeniseCold It's still not enough. Twice the DNC ensured he was not the primary. They'll just keep stringing him along until he gets too long in the tooth and physically deteriorated to hold office. That's if he even runs again.

But that also goes with the fact that he always keeps his word, no matter what the personal cost, because that's part of the package, as with his attempts to stay in a position where at least he keeps one consistent fighter - himself - in a position to at least try for some aspect of some public good in a swamp filled with monsters galore.

while I agree, I also want to stress what Bernie himself said: he will be first and foremost the organizer in chief. for his agenda to happen, he will need you and everyone in the working class to not stop demanding and fighting for your rights.
Not as much as Andrew Yang would change lives
He will change the life of everyone if the workers have more money in their pockets and are healthier they will spend more the economy will grow small buisnesses as well as large will grow as well, the down side millionaires that have so mush money they dont know how to spend it will have to pay more in taxes, but i do think they will survive.

I love how Bernie actually answers questions. And answers them wisely.
Really listen to most other candidates and how they will avoid answering difficult questions.
Yeah, but that is typical for all politicians across the world, that they talk a lot when asked a question, but do not really say anything. Bernie is very refreshing, because he answers every question to the point.
*yarnpower* You wrote that you low how Bernie answers questions as opposed to other candidates who avoid answering difficult questions. If you analyze most of his answere they do not fulfill that criteria. Just as Joe Biden he responds to difficult questions by referring Trump's undeclared tax returns even when that has got nothing to do with the question asked. They are both using a diverting trick. A very cheap trick.

Bernie is by far the best candidate to address the problems we're facing today: climate change, corporate greed, rebuilding the middle class, repairing the relationships with our allies, etc. No other candidate comes close.
Have you looked into Andrew Yang by any chance? He's been blocked out my media so trying to get his name out there to those who haven't heard of him. He's an entrepreneur who ran a non profit organization to create jobs in the midwest. He has an incredible plan for climate change as well and is proposing UBI for American citizens to help those struggling financially. He also has plans to end corruption in politics through term limits, democracy dollars, rank choice voting, etc. I hope you look into him and give him a chance! He has 100's of policies and great speeches and interviews :)
@@jennc878 Regardless, I'm going to vote for whoever the Democratic nominee is, and I'd certainly be happy to vote for Yang if it happens to be him
@@patrick1580 Yeah I totally get that and I can respect it.
@@jennc878 my only issue with UI, what Yangs not saying is if do accept UI it comes out of your social security benefits.

(No I don't actually eat McDonalds that stuff is nasty)
Lastly your a small buisness most of which make no profit their first year of operation.
@@karalas Bernie takes no corporate donations. If he was for corporations, then he wouldn't be shunning them.
Bernie is absolutely correct, disparity has given rise to both Trump and Brexit and other manifestations, and most of hte people who voted for these have no idea why...
