But be careful guys! You are seeing the training of the world's best climber, who climbs and train in high level for many, many years, with proper coaching, nutrition, rest, etc etc. Do NOT think that you need to a super high volume of max intensity training to get better at climbing, particularly if you are climbing around 5.12 or below. The key is conistency and NOT GETTING INJURIED! Which is very easy to happen if you don't follow proper trainning practices for you level.

I love this video, it's great to be able to see just how hard the world's top climber works on a daily basis. I wish we could see every detail though, I want to know his warm-up stretches, his rep/set ratio on the campus board, and his injury prevention techniques. I climb about 2 hours a day, 3 days a week, and I frequently have elbow and finger pain. If I tried to climb for 6-8 hours like he does my arms would literally fall apart. How he does this without hurting himself is what I want to know!

I remember a video of Adam on a Czech team climbing trip when he was a teenager and he was doing volume up and down climbing routes the rest of the team could barely do. They were so uncomfortable with it that they were almost making jokes about how 'keen' he was in the evenings. Interesting to see that Adam has always been able to sustain extremely high training volume where the typical climber might need much more recovery.

When I first started climbing I would go to the gym maybe once a week, since the closest one was over an hour away. But the first 5 to 6 times I went I would get skin tears and blisters every time and each time I would climb for about 4-5 hours and just tape up when I’d get one. But I’ve been getting less and less and now can climb for quite a few hours and rarely get as many blisters or tears. And my fingers aren’t nearly as calloused as someone who climbs a lot. So just more climbing makes them tougher

Most hand cremes do an excellent job at doing that you dont need the fancy expensive "climbing" cremes. You should avoid applying too much of it or doing it too often tho because it can also prevent calluses from forming and thats not what you want. One thing I am still curious about after watching this video -- What is Ondra's diet actually like? That bowl of oatmeal and salad can't possibly be all he eats for breakfast and lunch.

Mostly, if not completely plant based diet :)

Well that salad was couscous so pretty high in calories but I'm pretty sure he had to have something to eat at home

Adam ,can you show us your warm up routine including every single exercise before training so you can start climbing and using the campus board without getting injured? It is a very hard problem especially that you mostly climb and practice this sport by your own.

I find it really cool how all these world class climbers (and I’m assuming athletes in general) just have this switch they can turn on and just fucking GO. You can see Adam flips that switch at 8:10 it’s really cool

Great video as always :) I would like to see a video with some more explanation of certain techniques used to climb a certain route, I think that would be very interested and educational to watch. Aldo what are the difficulties Adam stills needs to overcome or that he is working on.
