Got a 21 plate so previous gen. I'm a full license holder, 20 years of motorcycle experience, living in Scotland. On the backroads here I've never considered it annoyingly slow. What I've noticed is that, because it's so light and nimble and not a lot of power, I often end up keeping up or even overtaking people on much bigger bikes who are evidently overpowered and scared by their own machines. Too many people get rid of their 125s as soon as they get that A license without properly mastering it. I bet 90% of the riders in the UK can't utilise the full potential of an MT-125 yet they're riding bikes with 10x the bhp, probably only using 15-20% of the capability. Sorry, rant over. Fun little bike that doesn't feel little and if you can live with the controversial looks probably the best all rounder 125.
Completely agree with what you said. I spent a year and covered over 5000 miles on my mt125. So glad I did that, it really taught me a lot. Things I maybe would never of learnt on a bigger bike! I’ve sold it now though, and am moving on to my A2 license very soon.
@@TheElicoA I'm 178cm so there's a decent amount of difference, however, I'll still say try different bikes. Perceived size and seat height don't tell the whole story. A seat can be 5cm higher than another model and feel a lot more crammed. Geometry of the bike, steering bar size, height, and angle, pegs height and position, size and shape of tank, all come into play and each bike will feel different.
Hi Kate. I’ve last years model in blue & I love mine. I’m 60 & don’t feel silly on it, because it looks & feels like a big bike. It’s got a bit of a grunt too x
Hi Kate, takes me back to my cb125 days.....a step up from my 50cc moped. 😊..they have thrown all the bits on this bike...too late for me but new riders will have a buzz and even a bit of fun together. 👍 Excellent job with the video 👍💯
Lovely bike, very nearly got one but went with the XSR instead. The MT will be very popular with the younger riders, and was worried because of that it will be popular with those who don’t wish to pay for it.
I knew you wouldn’t resist the rider coming past with chin on tank - go on Kate! I think the bike looks great… and for once the design looks like it was developed rather than just thrown together. Good video Kate - fun can be had on little tiddlers too!
Surprised how good this seems as I thought KTM 125s were far ahead of the rest in the fun factor. If I was in the market for a 125, this would definitely be on my radar.
Hey Kate how are you doing today another great vlog love seeing you on a sportsbike you won't be wearing your leathers in this heat maybe you will need a dark visor ride safe lovely 🤩
I need to apologise to Kate and everyone for the comment I posted on about this video. For some reason it ended up on here and not on the video that it was meant for must of been my mistake sorry again. Love your videos Kate please forgive and keep up the great work you're doing.
Ha ha ha....Hilarious!!...."but it's not screaming to the point I feel sorry for it" It's not just that it's one of your (many) classic one liners, it's just the way you tell 'em !!!😂😂😂
ahhh I wanted it so much, I was going for it, but it was in shortage, so I ended up with the xsr125, which is pretty much the same bike components wise, just different shape. I think the cc125 range in general serves a specific purpose, and they are great at what they are made for, which is commute. they are perfect for everyday use, as they are very economic, they are light and easy to handle. and since nobody needs to go more than 100km they are the perfect package. also for my 170cm tall weak ass their size is perfection lol.
Very nice video. Who was the lad riding in front? Any idea of his height? The bike looked tiny for his build., wonder what it is like for taller riders.
Repping for the 125 guys and girls out there! Still on my trusty CB125R but the MT was one at the top of my list, nice review! Maybe one day my channel will grow to the point I can join and rub shoulders with the likes of you and EB Dan at these launches. Gotta dream big 🤣
@@UsernameKate 🤣 Nah clearly it takes some talent 👌 Well you we're my 70th Sub and now I'm at 319 so the growth is there haha. Keep it up anyway, really enjoying your videos!
I'm confused about the displays on the MT125, this one is a square 5" TFT and I've seen other 2023 mt 125's with a longer rectangular display, which one is the latest/newest ? Thanks in advance.
It’s a nice thing for a 125 but the price, especially if you take the options, for a bike that can’t even be used for the big bike test, is far too expensive. 125’s used to be test - passers or cheap runarounds, for the money you saved on this you could do DAS and put your bum on a good 500cc plus bike.
I think it's a better choice than the Honda CB 125 doing 70 mph is great to beat the traffic in the morning on your commute into the city prefer the iconic blue Colour scheme
For £5k on a 125cc I would shop around for a 2 stroke DT, Mito, NSR, Aprilia RS etc for half the price and more speed for fun, because many will be jumping off this bike at 17 years old and most would bypass this and advance direct for a big capacity. I think manufacturers are being silly with the little bikes now at those prices. Kate if you were 16 years old, what would you buy? A new bike or an old 2nd hand one that is 20 odd years old, easy to tinker with and fix with little to no electronics...
I may be a stupid 16 year old but that bike looks awesome to me😂 I understand what you're saying but I know nothing about engines so that's probably why I'll stick to buying a newer one
You just totally forgot - COOL. What 16yo wants to be seen on a bike that's as old as their parents (in their perception) - none.. plus they've been weaned on tech for their whole lives...
because they learn a lot more on an older bike that they can ride without all the rider aids and are able to work on without needing a computer, luckily I am raising my two children correctly and they are happy to ride 2 strokes and tinker on rebuilds etc@@CosmicSeeker69
It’s impressive for a 125 but the price is a bit off putting especially with the blue rims. My 1974 Yamaha 125 can’t get close to the speeds you were doing and my Yamaha XT250 is at full throttle at 70. Ripping around on a small displacement bike is fun. I say drop some of the features and lower the price.

130km/h out of it 😂 the twisties looked fun on it, as you can ride it like a dick without fear of license loss, would probably prefer they did an xsr300 as the transformer MT isn’t my cup of tea and the 300 isn’t much more than the 125 MT

The best 125cc? Arguably yes… but, should anyone buy one? Not unless they live inner city and will NEVER upgrade to a big bike, or if they’re rich. Massively overpriced for the market, doesn’t make any sense compared to competition and bang for buck…. Zontes does most of these for 2.5K less!
@@ryanmartin1841 Only you can really answer that… Go for a test ride, try different bikes. You may hate the sportier stance for example. Stunning looking bike of course, but price insurance. They also hold their value, but have a lot fewer buyers, so take longer to sell.
