All the farmers in our rural neighbourhood got together to help each other spread manure back in the day we called it a “bee” so no one complained of the smell. All the wives would help cook for the lady who’s farm was being cleaned out. It was amazing. We had wood cutting bees, Plowing bees, thrashing bees, corn harvesting bees. We just helped out each other. Great memories.🇨🇦
I remember that. Everyone just went from farm to farm on various tasks. It worked great then you had people from the city move in and tried to turn it into a business. That’swhen it went to shit and people started losing their farms.
In all honesty, while I'm def not craving chocolate milk at the moment, this is why I watch your channel over others. You don't shy away from any of the work, not just the dirty but what city folks would wrinkle their nose up and say gross at. I'm here because I love seeing the work that it takes to dairy farm and you show it. Thank you.
While a woman's work is never done around the house - A farmer's work is truly NEVER done on the farm. Thank you for sharing about all the manure challenges - it was interesting to see the ingenuity that goes into solving the challenges, whether it's manure or welding. Thank you for all the effort you put in. God Bless.
Enjoyed this video! I don’t think many of our urban brethren realize how sustainable modern dairy production has become; what with the source of some of the commodities used in feed and the benefits of manure fertilizer. BTW, like you, I learned to stick weld on the farm; the skill came in handy when looking for summer jobs to earn college tuition. Nicely done, Eric!
Manure Farming is a very apt title for this video. I would have never guessed that dairy farming involved so much crap management. Even more surprising is how interesting it all is! :-) Thanks for posting!
Yea, your lucky, but me, oooo I know what it smells like and its horrible.. sometimes, I imagine in the summer it smells worse because of the heat. During the colder times you cant really smell it
@@trythinking6676 Eehh I got used to it sort of. The smell doesnt really bother me. The guys/adults usually eat first because the kids take forever and we go to the ranch earlier than anyone else so its not like were getting "complaints" from the kids saying oh you stink or something like that. But yeah no one likes the smell, at first I wanted to change my work clothes as soon as they stunk like pig crap, now I just got used to it and change the shirts every morning and change the pants every other.
I want to let you know how much my wife and I enjoy watching your videos. I spent the first 35 years of my life on a small dairy farm in southern Idaho. Just me and my dad milked 50 head twice a day. Compared to our farm, yours is a palace. I wish we had a lot of the equipment that you have. You're an amazing hard working guy and I like seeing how good you work with your dad. Keep up the good work.
I saw your manure hauling video about a year ago, first time I had seen your channel. It was interesting and that's why I starting watching your channel on a regular basis. Thanks and keep making great vids!
Just saw a video Eric from a UA-camr, (Down On The Farm), where they were telling about you and your farm. That is quite the compliment to have someone recognize you for your hard work and dedication to farming. Thanks for sharing your video's.
yes - i just spent my lunch hour watching the experience of manure farming. i'd do it again in a heartbeat! learned 2 things: a whole new meaning to black friday and real manure farmers don't wear gloves.
Mad respect for how hard you work. Your old man outta be damn proud of you for sticking with a job that in all honesty really isn't all that glamorous. Today's kids can't even spell work ethic. You have it in spades bud.
Spreading the manure made me laugh for when I was stationed in Germany in 1971-1973 there was a German farmer that hated the American troops and would spread the manure when we were upwind from this fields and boy did it stink !! lol !! Keep farming and a nice video. Thanks from New England.
Whenever I see the manure pit open, I always think of Dr Malcolm’s line in Jurassic park. When he’s standing next to the Triceratops dung... Anywho, hats off to you, good sir. I can remember the few days I spent on farms of varying sorts and the smell was pretty rough even then. Can’t even imagine a barn pit of 8ft deep. Still, love the videos. Always a highlight in my days. God bless you, sir. Cheers!
I’ve got covid my smell and taste stopped working 67 years old so that job could be mine today live in Chapel Hill NC enjoy watching y’all worked on a Dairy in Mooresville NC grew up on a 200 acre farm small to what y’all do
Hi Eric, my two boys, age 10 and 7 LOVE watching your videos!! We live in Somerset County, but were in your area yesterday. Found your farm and the boys wanted to stop so bad. Just wanted to let you know how much they love your videos! Hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Conversation during the video between my 10 yr old daughter and 5 yr old son while watching one of the many liquid manure shots today. 10 yr old: He's just showing that cause his wife hates it. 5 yr old: no, he's showing that because I like it. LOL love all your videos.
You ever get that feeling the cows give back more than you gave them. That was alot alot of manure. Lol. You guys should get a new grinder for the feed be a good investment sense you guys use it so much. Thanks for the video and glad dad is doing good hope your wife and daughter are well. 🇺🇲
when you welded that sprocket and poured water on it that water crystalized the weld . could have wrapped a wet rag around the shaft to help from over hearing and let it cool on it's own.
Im just a web developer, but I cant stop watching farming videos for some reason lol.. absolutely fascinating, complex, and brilliant work you guys do. Just wanted to say I appreciate and respect you all!
I'm with you 100% on the welding vertically. I'm not great welding but if I can be comfortable I get a lot better weld. Good call with all that torque required for the shaft.
If you live on that property, you must have either lost your sense of smell, or you're dead!!!! Brother, you sir have a tough job , and a great life, the way your attitude about work, and life shine on this video. If someone complains about the times we're living in, I'll have them watch your videos. GOOD JOB, SIR, GOOD JOB!!!!!!!!!!!! : }
You are a very resourceful young man. I believe that a diverse set of skills, combined with an ability to improvise will make you a successful farmer, I understand when new, improved is not always the soundest economical choice.
Amazing that you can empty the manure storage and get it on the fields in one day, even with a challenge of the dry stuff. Just think, done until next year. I always thought that a farmer who couldn't manage his manure couldn't manage his farm. You are managing well!
Good job, Eric. I bet your Mom and Dad are very proud of you. You know, if you were to find a prosthetic brow ridge, you could double for James Franko...Way back when, that is...
This was one of the best. It shows just how hectic a farmer is who is successful. The manure in that last shed you were in was too thick so it will need hauled in a manure spreader. I can't even think what you would call a tank with liquid manure because it would do the same thing as the old time spreaders.
Erik we have all had days like yours. The muck docent always run were its supposed to but well done for getting the blockage sorted out. Interesting video
Impressive operation. Far cry from when I used to milk 6 at a time on a small TN dairy farm. We fed sour mash from a local distillery as well as silage from a silage pit.

Eric, my favorite farm video. Thanks for keeping them simple and real. Good to see your Dad doing much better.
Eric was your Dad sick?

Its good to see your Dad up and getting back to it. It looks like he healed up well.
Always a good Day watching the Dairy farm

Sitting here eating raisin toast, I am yet again very glad for my lack of smell-o-vision.
Yea, your lucky, but me, oooo I know what it smells like and its horrible.. sometimes, I imagine in the summer it smells worse because of the heat. During the colder times you cant really smell it
Here I sit eating chicken tenders and watching Eric talk about cow manure, now where’s that smell-a-vision at?
Hog manure is the worst, compared to cow manure
I don't mind it, but don't want to eat when I can smell it.

The never ending supply of poop is amazing. Interesting learning how you pump the manure up for fertilization in the fields.
So glad your dad is doing better. Never ending work on a dairy farm.
Thanks for sharing your videos. God bless
Great video eric. I learned something new, about the manure pumping , thanks for being a farmer
Your dad is back at full steam, glad to see that.
Lots of issues to deal with today, makes for an entertaining video, I'm even tired after all that.
Ive watched this video at least three times over the past year. It doesn't really get old. Great stuff!

I'm halfway through your playlist and this is by far the grossest video so far. I love it! Keep it up!
I've been hoping for another video! Have a great day.
You, sir, are one hard working son of a gun! I get tired just watching y'all! I applaud your family farm!!

Okay... but can we talk about your skills in backing up that spreader in such a space!
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks for another great video and letting us be a part of your life!
To some this may seem like manure but to those of us who have farmed, or are farming, this is education. Thanks.
The shot off the back of the spreader was really interesting. Nice.

I grew up on a ranch and feedlot. Some days all you have are the “crap” jobs". I am impressed with your manure management.
Thanks for all videos, just love watching you doing your everyday tasks. From the drone videos on down to dealing with the cow leftovers on the field.

I have to say the silage shaver is my favorite machine to watch.

And in one video --- you summed up the year 2020 for every American :)
That manure pump is nice that they don’t have to have 2 different pieces of equipment
I just checked out your channel! It’s cool. I have a channel too in PA we milk around 50 cows.

Nice video you never disappoint!
For some reason the words, "manure farming" reminds me of Congress.
Only thing is you are productive and make lives better.
And you know what you are getting
And all those jackarses in DC
At least manure has a purpose..
Please don't insult manure . It does way more for the U.S.A then congress
Always lookin forward to a new video! Thanks eric
Nice, manure hauling and driving under the chopper are probably my favorite jobs 😅 we haul all dry manure though
