    I thought John was double tracked during the verse Could swear it is only John's voice .... Gosh, Paul has the amazing ability to imitate John !! Thanks, Man !

      Gergena got this right. Verse: John double tracks and harmonizes himself, Middle eight: John lower part, Paul harmonizes the upper part. Gorge sings only some minor backing vocals in this. A great piece, and thank you Frudua! (BTW: This song was originally ment to a "Ringo song" of the Beatles For Sale, but obviosly John changed his mind. The song is composed mainly by John, with the help of Paul (maybe 80/20).

      I agree with your assessment that it is John doing both tracks. Although unusual to do, we see Paul do this on many tracks, so it's not unheard of. Also, at this time, John was clearly leading the group in 1964, pretty much doing everything that year. I get that Paul can imitate John's voice, but knowing their voices well, you can tell that it is John's voice on both tracks without Paul until the refrain.

      Yes you are 100% correct, Gee's you just have to listen to it and you can honestly here its John singing the main vocal and overdubs the lower one, its not rocket science. Then Paul comes in on the, (Though to night she"s made me sad) and sings higher harmony. come on just do it u know, do it right yap yap. as JL would say.

    As an American teenager living in Rome in the early 60's, I was fortunate to experience many wonderful things - The Beatles at Teatro Adriano in 1965, the fervor of Italian Beatles fans (complete with their John Lennon caps & glasses), and Equipe 84. Your UA-cam channel shows that that early love for the Beatles never died and their can sustain us through the corona virus, because all you need is love. Great videos!!!

    Thank you Fradua Galeazzo for all of these Beatle's vocal breakdowns, listening to them brings us a new dimention (new to me, anyway) to their music and the kind of musical performance team that they were. Having sung in choirs for most my (now gone) youth, I can only appreciate that much more what you are doing here; all my kudos to you, Fradua.

    Exactly right! Paul had this incredible ability to blend, to the point where you have to really strain to distinguish his voice from other backing singers in guest spots (Mellow Yellow - Donovan).

    @ mickavellian it often happens for artists to be protective about their original muscial ideas. I grew up with the Let it be version and I personally love it but I dig Paul getting angry on it. Where all others including legends like Freddie Mercury did cut most of the high notes live, McCartney, is the only person the whole world to be able to sing at his age a full 3 hours concert singing the Beatles songs in the original key and placing in the songs more high notes than there are in the originals. There's no way that the true greatness of McCartney will ever be understood in his total a REAL dimension and importance.
    In the next centuries he will be reminded like Beethoven or Bach or Mozart for his own hera.

      I also adore this song! Have you guys ever noticed how country-sounding this song is? I don't like country music, but the Beatles were very much influenced by American country/western/blues styles. It pops up frequently throughout their sing writing careers. But I noticed it on "I Don't Want To Spoil the Party" when I was adding a 3rd harmony. When I do a 3rd harmony part, I often hear more of the country structure in the chord progressions and rhythms. They just sing them a bit faster, like Elvis sped up the Blues, imitating some early black singers who really created rock and roll.

    The Beatles grabaron la canción el 29 de septiembre de 1964 en 19 tomas, la última de todas fue la que usaron para el álbum.1Es una de las pocas canciones en The Beatles donde Paul McCartney hace la voz baja, mientras que Lennon hace la alta, sin embargo, en el estribillo vuelven a intercambiar, haciendo la baja Lennon y la alta McCartney, dándole a la canción una particular importancia. Otros ejemplos de cuando Lennon hace la armonía alta y McCartney la baja es en Hey Bulldog y Come Together.

    I just heard this song the remastered version of the song. There was debate in the comments about the low harmony on the verses so I had to jump over here to get the expert's take. Most were saying it was either double-tracked John or George on the low part. I didn't think it was George and I still find it hard to believe it's Paul. I don't doubt Paul's ability to mimic John, since he uses lots of different voices in his songs. What I can't figure out is why the band would do it that way. John was known to double-track, so why wouldn't he just sing the low part himself in a second track? That's what I don't get. Why would Paul mimic John in a part he was perfectly capable of singing himself? The high harmony, I believe, would've been hard for John; but not the low harmony.

    • @craigsmith1042
      @craigsmith1042 4 роки тому

      piggly-wiggly Maybe they liked to mess with people’s heads? The verse is not so high that John can’t sing it (unlike say If I Fell). There’s very few songs in the early days they didn’t both or with George all sing. Can’t Buy Me Love is one. All My Loving another. (Paul does both high and low on the record.) Paul probably didn’t want to sing high harmony again so just sang low. Chorus is a bit high for John so they swapped.

    Hi I am really impressed with your versatility in singing the numerous vocals of the Beatles. Their harmonies, double-tracking and backgrounds are the cornerstone of the Fab Four. Have you ever tried the harmony to the 1973 Ringo Starr version of I'm The Greatest? Which reunited Ringo, John and George along with longtime friends Billy Preston on keyboards and Klaus Voorman on Bass. The harmonies between Ringo and John were quite amazing.

    Galeazzo, I just listened Strawberry Fields Forever in Mono for the first time (all the time I listened stereo version) and I like mono better in this one, but something's confusing me. I like very much drumming in the chorus of stereo version, but in mono version sounds different, not that powerful. Did they maybe put another drum track on mono version or what ?

    • @TheBeatlesVocalHarmony
      @TheBeatlesVocalHarmony  9 років тому +1

      Jesse Pinkman Think to the drum as a sum of parts each of them containing an amount of sound pressure and volume. If you stack all of them one over the other you get 100% of volume (mono version all at 12o'clock). If you divide them and place them in a stereo pan in different positions, you still have quite the same volume but the sound impact (pressure) is splitted in multiple parts and get lost. This is why a lot of us prefers the impact of the mono versions. :)

    Ciao Gale, grande lavoro come sempre, complimenti !! Vorrei chiederti come hai fatto ha capire che l'armonia bassa sia opera di Paul. Hai sicuramente un orecchio migliore del mio, perchè per quanto mi sforzi non riesco proprio a distinguere
    la voce del Macca, addirittura penso che se tu avessi la possibilità di chiederglielo, avrebbe dei dubbi anche lui !!!
    Non mi fraintendere, non metto in dubbio ciò che affermi ma vorrei solo capire se hai usato qualche strumentazione o lo
    hai letto su qualche libro, o più semplicemente hai un orecchio musicale eccezionalmente sviluppato.
    Un caro saluto, sei il migliore !!!
    Andrea

      Guido lavespa Ciao Guido, mi sono basato sull'ascolto di alcune silabe specialmente nelle note basse che Paul canta e in cui il timbro è inequivocabilmente il suo (there/her nella seconda strofa per esempio :)

    Ah! Ok, my suspicions were correct , Paul CAN do Lennon as well as Lennon can do Lennon. Again as Phil Spector screamed to an up & coming singer when the singer complained of a particular difficult passage by saying "Not even Paul McCartney can do that"; Sweet , little Spector went into his rage "Fucking Paul McCartney can do whatever the fuck Paul McCartney wants to do with his Fucking voice!!! Funny part is that Paul wasn't crazy about Spector & Spector was on the war path with Macca. "The long and winding road" that was given to Spector was shit,(, Ian MacDonald described it as "atrocious" to the point of sabotage), After all the wall of sound shit , it became the song we know, but Paul always seemed to be embarrassed of what The Beatles left on tape(SHIT) , SO the LET IT BE NAKED version of "Long & winding Road" was a complete re-recording where Paul played most of the instruments. Even at that level of a pissing contest Spector considered Paul the BEST singer ever.
    On this one Sir Macca was a bit of a hypocrite , because he HATED what Spector had done with Let it be. BUT he was the one who showed up to get the Oscar for best soundtrack. AND STILL Spector respected his talent.

    I disagree they did duets when they were younger per se. Maybe once or twice. Also, I cannot support that opinion of who sings what. Paul is in the verse doubling the higher with John. If not, then why is the "switch" in the 2nd part so seamless in the lower? Because it's John. PS, love your work, follow and enjoy it all the time.
