A few buddies and I talked with one of the builders. It took them 8 years to build it. They shipped it by boat into Philadelphia. That took 10 weeks! I was hoping it would have won the Ridler but they were having issues with the power window on the drivers side. The Aussie's were living out a dream of coming to America to the Detroit Autorama to show off their craftmanship. I really enjoyed talking with them about how this car was built. It was not a easy build for them but it turn out beautiful. Sorry I missed you Scottie. 👊

in my opinion the Aussie made XA , XB coupes are the greatest muscle cars ever. Could have bought one in Surfers in 2006 for $17k and shipped to NZ.

purchased a 1987 Australian Ford that I'm planning on importing to California, will make videos of entire process hopefully, only downside is state of California make us do an emissions test on all cars after 1975, cost is about 4k

Got an original xb coupe almost done, but to spec. 351 rebuild roller rockers double valve springs replaced stems seats and valves to run on unleaded. White with black trunk and hood including the rocker panels. Can't wait to drive her home from the shop.

Thanks for this one Scotty! Great to see some Aussie muscle in the Great 8 at the Autorama. This XB coupe is a staple of Australian muscle car folk law. They are so popular over here, they command huge prices. Heard a few people over there suggest that the car wasn't worthy of being a Great 8 contender, but to me it looks like it's up there with the best from the States with the quality of it's fit and finish. The engine looks like it's one of our Boss 5.4L engines from a late model Falcon GT. It's basically an Australian only version of a mod motor with some very trick heads from the factory- twin over head cam and 4V (designed by Ford in England apparently)- with an aftermarket blower. That one looks like a 2300TVS. Wow, what a car. Such a beautiful stance too. And those roll pans that flow right under the car like that, such talent involved in the build

What a dream car! It seems like no expense was spared.
I hope someone someday does a similar treatment to a Landau (it was the luxury version of the XA-XB, which had hide-away headlights, full-width tail lights, and various other differences).

An XB coupe with 4 working tail lights, very impressive almost never saw any XA, XB or XC with all tailights working, once got out of a ticket in an XA coupe because the cop car had the same tailight out as he was booking me for. NIce to see a non interceptor one being featured.,

To say this car is awesome is an understatement. I really like how they paneled the bottom. I also like the independent rear suspension with the inboard rotors, like some of the Audi's'used, years ago. Very cool! Everything on this car is seamless and perfect! They put a ton of work into this car for sure! When my wife and I went to Australia in 1987 or 88, we rented a small camper for 10 days and just traveled around. We loved it, and saw a lot of cool cars too. Awesome video's Scottie, as always!

Cool! Yes and some XJ's too. I just remembered working on an old Audi 100 that had them. Quite a few other manufacturers used them too like Alfo Romeo, Lotus, Maserati, Mercedes and some others too.

By 1976 the Ford Mustang was really nothing but a Pinto in disguise. What was Ford thinking? Who wants a four cylinder Mustang? Ford should have based their styling for the Mustang II on one of the Australian XB Falcons, they could have downsized it a little and built it on the Ford Maverick platform, which is actually closer to the original mid 60s Mustang. Also, the above car looks a little like a US 1971 Ford Torino, but by 1976 the Ford Torino had become the full framed luxury car known as the Gran Torino. Also, I think that is a 5.4L Triton V8 under the hood. Man I love those Australian Fords, and it is interesting to see how they and the North American Ford Mustang and early Torinos all evolved from the 1962 Ford Falcon.

When I lived in Sydney during the 1980’s, these XB’s were seen everywhere. I remember they also came in a Ute, and I would’ve loved to own one but it just never happened. I was also surprised they did not come in convertible option, being in a sunny country.

Umm, well, the workmanship leaves me speechless suffice to say it's simply incredible! Awesomely skilled people have dedicated their skills to this vehicle. For me boring old original is great from the factory, but this XBoss truly is an amazing work of art.

This has to be one of my all time favorite body styles next to a 71 Cuda but cooler even. If Ford would have made these for us Americans it probably would have put the Mustang on the endangered species list. Awesome car Scottie!!!

Hay Scottie, great to see you do an Australian car!! cool as man, I have an XA falcon the earlier model. ex police highway pursuit 4 door sedan, 1972 351 clevo 4 speed top loader n 9 Inch LSD diff,Arctic white paint with brown poverty pak interior, the ultimate sheep in wolfs clothing, it has NOT been restored yet but will hope fully be done up one day. if i find 10 grand in the couch, Old falcon's are great cars i grew up around then i have a 1985 silver XF at the moment the last of the X series falcon's shes a my baby , cool vids keep up good work !cheers! Sweet scottie,this is a car I can relate to,they are a popular classic/muscle car here in new Zealand but are getting harder to find here,there was one for sale I know of that was advertised lately for $60,000nz so they getting quite valuable over here.....

That's a nice looking body style for a car from 1976. It kind of reminds me of a late 60's early 70's Chevelle body from the side or a few other cars styles, maybe like a smaller Fury or Tornio like you said. Really nice car.

I'm not a Ford guy but the Falcon XB has and still is my favourite Ford to this day. Also my favourite movie car star of all time. it's a Torino body with a different front facia. I have a licence 1/18 Road Warrior version Falcon XB. only 2000 printed by Auto Art. Thats probably as close I'll eve get to one. Way too cool. Thank you for sharing. :)

it's not the same as a torino. the falcon has a shorter wheelbase
the xb would have looked better with the gt quad headlight front fascia and a rear mounted spoiler as found on the xc falcon cobra

good seeing the yanks enjoy Aussie cars... its a shame the Aussie builds from Ford and Holden ( GM ) are no more. Last Ford motors rolled off the line this week. Ever since I moved to Australia when I was 15 I have loved the old cars. Ford being my favorite but also love my fair share of Holdens.

Put a couple rectangler yellow fog lights in that front grill and it would look just like a Dodge dart coming at you. But the mustang 2 rear lights should be swapped. FoMoCo does again that's a sweet looking ride.
One BADASS ride. I love the integration of the NEW and the OLD. That supercharged Coyote motor is another piece of art sculpted into their fine interpretation of a hot rod.

ScottieDTV These falcons are what I grew up in. They were about 7-8 years old when I got my license. I had one of these two doors in GS trim. Stock with a heap of miles on her. Sold it to my nephew who still has in storage. I doubt it’ll see wheels turning again. Shame.
76 was the last of the XB coupe's moving into the XC which was near identical but a different beast. I drive a '73 XB GT coupe. What you're seeing here is a dolled up GS. For some reason American's pay a hundred plus grand for these puppies and doll them up like something from a sci-fi movie. I had to undo some work on mine and get her back to her OEM color. But UA-cam searching 'Falcon Coupes' will be any muscle car fan's wet dream. These cars usually run 351 clevelands, the boy racer trend at the time was a bastardized 351 with 301 head, blown if their budget allowed. They put out some serious acceleration even stock. I've found some paddock basher four doors that still have that motorcycle acceleration vibe to them, that uncomfortable pushing you into your seat a little harder than they should. They were beautiful cars. Unfortunately of the GT models there are less than 100 left on Earth. And recently some scumbag stole my ID plate to my car, so there's 100 + 1 GS bearing fake GT identification plates out there.

OMG, that bodywork is just. So. Awesome. Not a fan of the oversize "DUB" wheels look on vintage muscle--but this thing still awesome, sets the benchmark awful high. I WISH I could get my Coupe anywhere near as good as this when I get it back on the road. The underbody panels, the IRS, oh my! (I want an Arning T5 IRS under mine some day)I especially like the what they did with the front stonetray & spoiler, to give it a deeper, more updated look without clashing with the classic body lines.
