I'm sort of considering selling my kimber 1911 ultra carry 2 crimson trace to get the money to buy a 509 tac but it almost makes cry to think I might sell it because it was my first fire arm but if I sell it I might get enough out of it that it would fully cover the cost of the 5o9
The O-ring is built into the cap on the FN 509, thus is probably why it didn't fall off while you shot it. Mine has never came unscrewed, so seems to be a good design. 👍
The FN comes stock with everything you would probably put on a weapon. Sights are receiver height sight’s to co witness with an optic, weapon is optics ready and a threaded barrel for a compensator or a suppressor and 3 mags. Everything that you have stock on the FN are accessories for the Sig which translates to extra $$$$ spent.
I have/had very close models to both of these. I wanted to love my FNS9 but I just couldn’t reach the trigger effectively (weird DNA trick: size L hand, size S trigger finger). Picked up a 509 when it came out but the problem persisted so FN is out for me. Sig’s P320 is a different story. More comfortable grip and I can reach the trigger on all the variants. My Full Size is really just the black version of this M17 and it’s a very sweet shooter. More pleasant feel, overall, that the FN. Tip for ANY P320 owner: Sig now offers the flat, 90° trigger that is used on their X-Carry/Compact pistols and putting these in any P320 is the best single mod you can do to them. On sale for Black Friday at the Sig Store!
I had a FN 509 but sold it along with my Glock 19 after i got a Sig 17 and got 1,000 flawless rounds through it... It still has not had any malfunctions and i like the trigger better.. I think my next purchase will be a Sig 365 Nice video
Get the Sig if you are in the market. M17, M18 or a different P320 variant. I have both and regret the FN purchase. Wish I would have just gotten another Sig. If you are set on the FN 509T, go somewhere and actually get some trigger pulls in. Mine had the worst trigger I have ever felt. Even after polishing and playing with springs it was still junk. Went with the Apex trigger and heavy duty striker and that made it SOOOOOOOOOO much better. ~$200 needed to upgrade an already expensive pistol so I don't feel like punching babies every time I pull the trigger.
You said the military was looking for a more modular gun so they chose the Sig over the FN which is by far more modular with the backstrap replacement, the threaded barrel, and the optics mount the fits a ton of different optics. Yeah seems like the military wanted a more modular price, not a more modular gun. Also the FN has an O ring inside the cap for the threaded barrel.

Changing out the Sig curved trigger for the Sig flat trigger is absolutely worth the $50 price tag. The trigger pull is crisper and follow up shot are much faster. If you get the M17 or the M18 replace the curved trigger with the float trigger. You will be very happy you did.

The Sig, and correct me if I'm wrong, but each frame is it's own thing, there's no customizing the frame and then you're stuck with the logistics of having to keep multiple big frame sizes on hand for troops to customize (theoretically). Why Sig went this way instead of being like everyone else where the gun ships with 3 or 4 grip panels that will accommodate 99% of shooters is beyond me, and then the P320 feels barely any better than a Glock. Between the M9A3, APX, 509, M&P, Glock and P320, I choose the P320 last.

He’s not giving correct information on the “ACTUAL” Civilian M17 from Sig…. The real Civilian M17 from Sig comes with 2 21 round and 1 !7 round magazines!!! Just thought I’d let people know who are really interested in the real M17 from Sig for the civilian market. And, you can buy full sized threaded barrels directly from Sig for the M17. Thanx for reading…
Wat do you edc
I got to say the FN is the better choice not only does it have better options it also shoots better than my M18 so I sold my Sig and got the hammer fired FN x sorry all you sig fans out there it’s shit but at least the P229 was good!🤯🔫💣
Hinge trigger? I’ll pass
I noticed you dont limp wrist like when you lived in California.
chuck miller lol
Go with the 320 I have the fn worst gun I have owned along with the terrible warranty fn terrible for the warranty and the way they do business
Love the channel but doesn't that ratty beard bug you in NV? I couldn't stand facial hair when I lived in a hotter state.
Why are you worried about how anther man looks ?
He doesn't mean the looks of it, he means the way it feels.
Andrei Valdez Ratty beard ? I know exactly what he means. That’s not talking about his looks ?
You think weird
These aint in 10mm so pass
@Frank Deckard what is your budget?
@Frank Deckard if you like dealing with safties get a 1911, but if you don't like safeties get the 20 and buy a after market barrel if you are going to fire full power loads.
@Frank Deckard get it then
@Frank Deckard get some good mags like Wilson Combat, Trip research cobra, and chip McCormick
them lawyer triggers are junk. i have never and will never buy one.
FN not afghan
Sig looks ugly as can be to me
I thought the same thing at first. Now its my 2nd favorite looking handgun. 1st obviously is the 1911
Glock submitted 2 guns not a modular gun so didn't give army what it asked for
Oh stop complaining you must have woman hands if the grip on the FN bothers you :P
The FN 509 trigger is atrocious! One of the worst triggers ever. Anyone who says it’s good is full of crap.
It's like that at first. Be patient. I put some oil on mine and ran it. Grit is gone with a nice crisp break at wall. Freaking love it!
I was really worried about the trigger at first but I figured out a few key points to polish and its actually really nice now.
