Just found your channel as I was searching for end of year reading wrap ups. So cute! Definitely adding some books to my TBR. Can’t wait to watch more videos!
I read Cyrano de Bergerac this year. It's a classic, but it's also a play, so it's really short. But Oh. My. Gosh. What a read. It's hilarious, heartbreaking, and beautifully written. You should definitely add it to your lists.
Thanks for the lovely recs.. am definitely adding all of these to my list. I just finished reading this phenomenal collection of fairy tales entitled 'Sillies, Fancies and Trifles' - highly recommend, it's perfect for the season. Keep up the beautiful vids!
So far my recs for this year are: Abhorsen series by Garth Nix (fantasy) The Island by Adrian Mckinty (thriller) Paris by Paris Hilton (memoir) Mindhunter by John Douglas (memoir/non fiction)
I have a recommendation for you two! The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See. It’s historical fiction based on the tale of friendship, loss, forgiveness, and tragedy that occurred on the Korean Island of Jeju between two women who were haenyeo, a matriarchal culture of women who dive in the sea to support their family, during World War II, the Cold War, and the years after. It’s tragic, heartbreaking, and also hopeful and heartwarming at the same time.
I’m with Maddie. Yumi is totally a romance!!! But it has so much more!!! One of my top books this year for sure. I felt every emotion in those last 50 pages
Nevernight for fantasy, Seven Year Itch for romance and Rock, Paper, Scissors for thrillers! I loved this vlog! I couldn’t give a care about Goodreads!! Awesome video!!❤❤
I just finished Will of the Many last week and I literally can't stop thinking about it. I think it's easily my pick of the year, before reading it I had like 5 ties and couldn't figure it out. Please don't mess up book 2 Islington!! So many of your picks are on my TBR for 2025, very excited esp for Sword of Kaigen that will be super early in the year!!
Agh Sword of Kaigen is soo amazing! So happy to see Ruin on here! It ruins everyone.... Also great to see The Wolf Den and Beautiful World Where Are You (I think it is Rooney's underrated work so far). I need to read The Will of the Many! Dark Matter is also very hight on my list.... Blood Over Bright Haven is probably the next one I'll get to. The book FOMO is unreal! I'll be adding Greenlights to the TBR :).
We always say: good books will be good forever. It's our way of not getting stressed when the good books are piling up and we feel like we can't get to them fast enough! There's so much to look forward to. Your reviews on each of these are going to be great. Looking forward to it.
This video quality is excellent; what kind of camera do y'all use? Thanx so much for this video; it's my first time seeing this channel, and I enjoyed it greatly.
I have so many from your list on my TBR! TBR built by Kris and Mads. 😂 Below are some of my favorites from 2024. Literary Suspense: The Strange Case of Sally Diamond Thriller: Darling Girls Mystery: We Solve Murders Literary Fiction: Shark Heart Historical Fiction: The Rose Code Romance: Funny Story Romantasy: Belladonna Fantasy: The Final Strife
Good list 💯 Discovered your channel in recent time and I have to tell you that your reviews and suggestions better than booktokers ✌Greetings from Turkey!
Romantasy recommendation - Metal Slinger by Rachel Schneider. This one took me totally by surprise. I was hooked within the first few pages and it never let me go through its entirety. I can’t wait for book 2.
You guys have awesome taste, basically every one of these books is on my tbr! My favourites of the year are the Grace of Kings from the dandelion dynasty, project Hail Mary, dark age, I am legend, the farseer trilogy, 11/22/63
Ok our tastes are so aligned! Looks like we need to check out I am Legend and the Dandelion Dynasty is for sure on our 2025 TBR. Is I am Legend the same as the movie??
@@Krisandmads It’s different in some pretty key ways, definitely a good one to read blind though. I’d have liked to have read it without having seen the movie, but it’s still different. Also forgot to mention Stoner as one of the best books I’ve read
First of all, Maddie- your hair looks adorable 😍. But also, this is like my dream video. I like to switch up genres when I’m not sure what to read. So many amazing picks to check out! I just read Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia and I’m currently reading Anxious People by Fredrik Backman.
Just finished Blood Over Bright Haven and love, love, loved it but I do think Sword of Kaigen will be my top for the year but I will say Goldfinch is probably going to be a book that stays with me for a lifetime. Last year I read a collection of novellas by Nnedi Okorafor called Binti. If you have not read them I highly highly recommend. One of my favourite classic writers is Herman Hesse. Steppenwolf is a top book I recommend. It is such a crazy mind trip. I’ve read it several times and every single time it’s like reading a new book because you catch some new thing that completely changes what you think happened in the book.
We love both, but agree that Sword of Kaigen is superior to Blood Over Bright Haven. And yes! I feel the same way about the Goldfinch! Binti is definitely on the TBR. We hear such good things! We need to check out Herman Hesse. Thanks so much for the recs!
Just added so many of these to my TBR! Thank you 😊 I read all of ACOTAR this year, all of TOG this year, Manacled, and I am almost done with Mistborn book 1 (among many others). Top book was the payoff of Kingdom of Ash.
Have to say, Bloodsworn Saga was making a case for favorite series of the year for me, but Red Rising locked that award up a while ago. I'll make a new category and make it my favorite trilogy :) Agree on Greenlights for memoir (although it was the only one I read in 2024 lol). Will of the Many wins as best overall for me, unless something tops it in my last 4 or 5 reads of the year. Maddie, I struggled with Empire of Silence, and haven't had the heart to pick up Howling Dark yet (but really want to), so I feel ya on that. My favorite standalone had to be 11/22/63, which was my first read of 2024. Definitely my favorite King novel so far besides the Stand. Great stuff as always, ladies!
Ok you're making me want to try stephen king! We're not really horror girlies, so we've been intimidated to pick on up by him, but we hear such great things! Yeah Sun Eater is a wild one. It is clearly so sophisticated writing-wise. The world-building is all there, the scope is so vast, and the plot has such potential. I've just been missing an emotional connection to the characters, and any kind of personal investment in the stakes. It's getting there though. Mid-series it's hitting for me. Yeah Red Rising is just so hard to beat. Nothing can top it for us, but we read it last year, so lucky for these books they don't have to compete.
Thriller was The Bang bang sisters by Rio youers. Historical fiction was The Roaring days of Zora lily by Noelle Salazar. Mystery was The square of sevens laura Robinson-shepherd. Fiction was Pearly Everlasting by Tammy Armstrong. Fantasy was The book of doors by Gareth brown. Series was A grave robbery by Dianna raybourn(the most recent Veronica Speedwell book)😊
Here are some recs! Unsure if you've already read any of these but these have been standouts for me over the years. Also would advise you to check trigger warnings just in case there are certain things you avoid in books! Memoir: The Trauma Cleaner by Sarah Krasnostein (check trigger warnings bc it's a lot!) - such an interesting read - a truly insane memoir Science Fiction/Thriller: The Passengers by John Marrs, The One by John Marrs Fantasy/Series: The Poppy War series if you haven't already read it! Historic Fiction: Betty by Tiffany McDaniel (likely my favorite book of the year) Young Adult/Romance: Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz Literary Fiction: Cleopatra and Frankenstein by Coco Mellors Body horror/lgbtq/literary: Chlorine by Jade Song Horrors of the world horror: Any Man by Amber Tamblyn (check trigger warnings this one is A LOT) Genre Bending: a bit of a wildcard bc i'm not sure if you guys enjoy manga BUT - Orange (The Complete Collection) by Ichigo Takano (mix of YA manga, sci-fi element, romance)
We actually read The Road of Bones in early 2024 with our fable book club and everyone really enjoyed it! We were definitely in our viking era this year!
I just found your channel and have been LOVING your videos so much!! I wanted to ask if you plan to read Tasha Suri’s books? My favorite is Empire of Sand but her Burninng Kingdoms trilogy is hot right now too. I think based on some of your favs that you might like her.
Yes!!! This is what a call a book list for so many different genres! I’m excited to have found this video and ya’ll’s channel as someone who loves to be well-rounded in reading and read all genres. I just got back into reading a few years ago after having my 4th child and needing to prioritize time for me. Two other genres I add to my list is Spiritual/Christian and Leadership/Communication (which I suppose would be Self Development as well, but I actually separate the two since I’m looking for specific reads in certain areas of growth). Thank you for this video as I have a lot of great new to me books to add to my 2025 TBR.
we do not usually make lists based on race/gender/demographic, but if you'd like some of our favorite recommendations by black authors they are: the broken earth trilogy by n.k. jemison the burning series by evan winter legendborn by tracey deon all absolutely amazing! happy reading!
Help me please. I am an avid reader but I am having a hard time believing that anyone could actually "read" 200 per year books.(a paper made book). Are you including audio books??? Are you including graphic novels? (Which are nothing more than comic books.) Or.....are the books counted only the 200 page romance novels?? Would someone out there help me figure this out?
Just found your channel as I was searching for end of year reading wrap ups. So cute! Definitely adding some books to my TBR. Can’t wait to watch more videos!
Glad you found us! Welcome to the party!
Hey, thanks for this awesome video! But the timestamp's off in the first memoir category at 00:22.❤
MY QUEENS 💖 forget Goodreads, this is the only rating I care about
Truth!
You're the best! This is one of our favorite annual traditions!
I read Cyrano de Bergerac this year. It's a classic, but it's also a play, so it's really short. But Oh. My. Gosh. What a read. It's hilarious, heartbreaking, and beautifully written. You should definitely add it to your lists.
Oh, we’ve heard so many good things!
Kristen looks at Maddie like Maddie is the most magical human ever created 😍
Awwww
And thus my TBR just got longer 😂 thank you both for these lists and creating content I can listen to while getting ready for dreaded night shift!
Thanks so much for watching! Happy to help build a TBR. There's nothing like having a good long list of amazing reads waiting for you.
Thanks for the lovely recs.. am definitely adding all of these to my list. I just finished reading this phenomenal collection of fairy tales entitled 'Sillies, Fancies and Trifles' - highly recommend, it's perfect for the season. Keep up the beautiful vids!
Thanks so much for watching! We love fairytales, we'll have to check these out!
Definitely putting some of these n my 2025 TBR. Loved you categories!
Yay! Glad you liked the categories!
So far my recs for this year are:
Abhorsen series by Garth Nix (fantasy)
The Island by Adrian Mckinty (thriller)
Paris by Paris Hilton (memoir)
Mindhunter by John Douglas (memoir/non fiction)
Oh thanks for the recs! We need to check these out. You're not the first person to rec Abhorsen, so we are super intrigued by that one!
The Abhorsen series is nice…. The audiobooks are amazing!
@@sheilakae_ that’s how I’ve been making my way through them! Can’t go wrong with Tim curry!

I love the Abhorsen series . Well I've only read Sabriel but hoping to continue in the series next month
Ok! We need to check this out for sure!
I’m with Maddie. Yumi is totally a romance!!! But it has so much more!!! One of my top books this year for sure. I felt every emotion in those last 50 pages
Those last 50 pages are so incredible! Just WOW! It is definitely romantic, but it certainly doesn't read like modern romance novels. lol.
"The cover is not giving" is my ENTIRE personality lmao
We just want the outside to fit the inside 😂
Nevernight for fantasy, Seven Year Itch for romance and Rock, Paper, Scissors for thrillers! I loved this vlog! I couldn’t give a care about Goodreads!! Awesome video!!❤❤
Ok! Nevernight is on our TBR for 2025! Now we're even more excited!
First video from you guys and this was so fun! Love the variety of reads.
So glad you're here. Thanks for watching!
