MATT GOODWIN: The Conservative Party Is IMPLODING - Here’s WHY
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 чер 2024
- In this clip from Die Zeit I dissect the unprecedented political volatility sweeping Britain. Never before have we seen such dramatic shifts in voter loyalty, with Conservatives defecting to Reform, Labour, or opting out altogether. Over the past decade, we've witnessed the rise of populist movements like UKIP and the Brexit Party, culminating in a significant backlash against the Conservative Party. This video explores how the Tories' failure to deliver on key promises-like controlling immigration, bolstering public services, and defining Britain's global role-has led to this crisis.
I’ll delve into the lost opportunities of the Conservative Party post-Brexit, the disconnect between the political elite and the electorate, and the looming battle for the soul of British conservatism. Tune in to understand why millions of voters feel betrayed and how this could reshape the political landscape for years to come.

Please keep up the great work. Just look at Wales, Scotland or London what Labour will do when they get IN.
I am not a Conservative member or supporter but Labour will be a nightmare. If you think it is bad now, wait when Labour get in the next election.
Most of our problems starting in 1997. It is very difficult to role back lots the laws, etc from then. The civil service don’t help, just look at Sue Gray.
Just look Angela Rayner, David Lammy, Emily Thornberry, Diane Abbott, Shabana Mahmood, Liz Kendall etc. None of them have any experience of life. The Peter principle applies.
Brilliant work, again, Matt, a true champion of the working men and women of this country. Go on Matt, vote Reform U.k 🤠🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴
Net migration has mushroomed because we no longer have FOM
illegal migration has mushroomed because we no longer cooperate with our friends and allies in the EU
If you want to reduce migration you regulate your labour market pay reasonable wages in the public sector and invest in your domestic workforce as well as the countries infrastructure.
The rights solution to these problems is treating the symptoms not the cause which is deregulation and low taxation using migrant labour to compensate for the lack of investment
People wanted levelling up HS2/3 and a brighter future what we got was punching down, London potholes filled with the cancelled HS2 funds deppening of the North / South divide
You're knocking it out the park Matt! ❤ From South Africa
Vote Labour 🌹
The tories handling of immigration may be the biggest betrayal of a voter base in the history of politics.
If Nigel Farage had been in parliament with 50 decent MPs he could have at least sent a severe warning to May that they would instigate action against her for treason if she didn't fulfil her obligations. That would have served as a clear warning that politicians are our SERVANTS not our masters.
Yes I think that is why they are being punished by voters. Their repeated failures to deliver on Manifesto pledges on immigration, means no one believes a word from them anymore!
There may well be no way back.
If you want to lower the importing of Doctors you train more of your own and improve the pay of the ones there so they don't emigrate.
All across the economy are these economic PULL factors which need addressing, immigration isn't a tap you can turn on and off
Personally I’d say our biggest betrayal was Blair, the policies are still there.
2nd to convid.
Boris Johnson is a talker not a doer, he couldn't manage a piss up in brewery, his Brexit so called deal was a disgrace
It wasn't his deal. They got rid of him, then ffffed up Brexit.

Never happening, sorry.
They are not going to get in !
Seeing the back of the Tories delights me. Seeing Labour replace them terrifies me. Reform's getting this Geordie's X.
I think starmers the best labour leader we could've hoped for. I think they WILL be more effective than the conservatives on immigration - question is by how much - just because they're more responsible with the functionality of government and the country.
If we show a strong front behind Nigel farage they might even admit that we're right. Reduce immigration, freeze immigration, reverse immigration.
Reform can relegate them both to minor party status if it plays its cards right.
EXACTLY how I feel about about the upcoming GE.
Labour will regulate the Labour market which will remove some of the economic pull factors for migration and also train more domestic health workers and improve private sector pay all of which will lower migration what do the other parties have to offer?
@@SlowhandGregReform are going to introduce extra taxes for companies that don't employ British workers making it more expensive to companies wanting to pay slave wages to illegal immigrants.

I’ve looked, and all I can find is a series of draft proposals that are to be updated by the end of the year. Hardly a great basis for a vote of confidence. As to the policies of other parties, I am not the one who is exhorting people to vote Tory or Labour. It is not incumbent on me to defend any policy.
Farage wasn’t voted in as leader of RefUK.
@@thomaswigfield7623 It is not incumbent upon you to question people on Reform policies either yet you do it. I dont need a microscopic breakdown of party policy. That kind of pathetic garbage is why were in this mess. What has "policy" achieved in the last two decades? Piss. All. This country doesnt need policy. It needs a hammer to break the corrupt political monopoly. Reform in England are the only option. Theyve done what every government in living memory has done: made a general statement about their position. Thats enough for the majority of this country - much of whom would vote for a pig if it wore the correct colour rosette.
The most important thing right now is damaging Labour and Convervatives. Policy doesnt mean jack compared to that.
Where are the right wing Conseratives......oh yes, they got rid of them!!
Where are the 'conservative' ('c') Conservatives? None in the parlimentary party for sure.

Two cheeks of the same arse.
We voted for brexit, for low immigration and a low tax economy.
Matt is right.
What is Brexit? As an entity? It was never going to be a route to prosperity, at best it was for getting rid of Johnny Foreigner, well that was not ging to happen in a country that is getting older and older, and low tax? You want a privatised NHS? Thats what a low tax UK will be!
If you want a low immigration economy you're voting for poor public services, lower tax take and lower economic growth. At which point your voting base will wonder why they can't get a hospital appointment, or why the school roof is leaking. Only the already rich prosper in that scenario - and they win whoever's in power.

I genuinely think that Matt would be a mesmerising addition to the reform party, he's a very engaging eloquent speaker, he's got a superb understanding of how the general public feel about societal issues and how it infuriates and frustrates the electorate. Added to that, his professor status would instantly garner respect and admiration from those who listen to him.

What are talking about. You're a Labour troll. Brexit is actually going pretty well and we're outperforming many EU nations. We have a long way to go and there were mistakes made, but that's to be expected. Brexit is working - but people are eager to pretend it's not, all so they can enjoy feeling enraged and indignant. In reality Starmer's about to reverse Brexit. Farage is lying when he says Brexit failed - it's going fine (Starmer is to reverse it sadly).
'Populist' just implies that lots of people want it. If parties insist on ignoring what the voters want they should expect to fail.
New aristocracy worse than the old.
Not when the 2 party system delivers no political choice.
He's using the term "populist" differently but the usual definition is rule by a rabble who have been rendered emotional and want to attack the "elites" and think they are victims. This is how Obama won in America, and Corbyn's platform. Trump and Boris were not populists, they just did want the thought was logical and carried out popular polices that they agreed with.
Nope. That's 'popular' you're thinking of. Populism is about using people's dopamine receptors to flood their rational mind with fantasies, win power and then ignore the needs of ordinary people.
A populist party has one/ a number of the following attributes 1/a “promise” that simple solutions can fix complex problems (eg immigration) 2/ the country was “great” but its ppl are a victim of “the elite” 3/ only one particular strong and patriotic “leader of the ppl” can fix it all 4/ anyone who disagrees is unpatriotic.

As Professor Goodwin has said, the Conservatives had an amazing chance to build an alliance of different groups and become a Workers's Party, as Rob Halfon and others have suggested. They've blown it quite spectacularly. There is no enthusiasm for Starmer's Labour; if you think things are bad now, I dread to think what 5 years of this Labour Party will do to the country.
