Everyone remember if you are wanting a pure bred American pit bull terrier don’t think you are going to get a dog social animal. They have genetics made to fight and be dog aggressive so if you own one or are wanting one don’t put the dog into situations where it will show its genetics and people will think your dog is dangerous and give it bad reputations.
well said Elum, just do some research not everyone should own these dogs look how man dummies crash ferarris or lambroghinis 3 blocks from leaving the dealership
Naturally Naturals Way Yes and no. You have to find a special dog to make a good personal protection dog and most dogs of any breed aren’t cut out for that type of job, and it takes a long time to train a really good personal protection dog. The dogs have to go through all kinds of different styles of training such as off- leash training, the bite work, and to have complete control over the dog at all times and it is very time consuming. Most of the time I believe that a true apbt won’t make a good personal protection dog based on the way the breed was made specifically to not have any human aggression so if that is what you are looking for in a apbt you should probably go to a different breed like a working breed or something.
Thanks for your help. I adopted a pit mix to me he's a mutt. He was from a rescue shelter. I walk and work with him every day. He is a good dog. It pisses me off when a person's ankle biter is barking and growling at him. They look at me as if it is my fault because of the way my dog looks. When the truth is they can't control their dog. People who understand bully breeds tell me he is a well behaved dog. Thanks for your channel.
I have been using this ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU as a handy reference book. I read through the book and enjoyed the little glimpses of examples. I love that this author believes in rescue dogs. The tips and training has been invaluable and gave me moments of...."how simple why didn't I think of it" so it's been a great tool. Thank you!
I just spent a couple of months working with a pittie with dog aggression. However, what started as dog aggression grew into a dog that wanted to meet other dogs. After a lot of socialization, this guy Decker decides he likes dogs. We have walked him next to other pitties and other breeds. No problems. Now he is learning to play with other dogs, of course, I muzzle trained him first. We are using know good dogs and it is working, slow, but working. Thank you for the vids bud.
I’ve been trying with mine. He wasn’t aggressive before but our neighbors dogs attacked him twice so after that he became aggressive. It’s been so hard but we’re patiently waiting and trying with my boy.
That's cool, I made a lot of mistakes early with my guy. He's a big boy.For the longest time, I just tried to avoid situations where he would be around other dogs. He always had to assert his dominance. After educating myself, I learned how important socialization is in avoiding the problem that I was always worried about.

New subscriber. Love your videos, instructions and messages. I moved to a small rural town in MO from NYC. It is not uncommon for the residents here to have “outside dogs” to guard their livestock from coyotes, etc. In November 2020, my neighbor’s two dogs (shepherd mixes) mauled my little 15 lb dog to death. I have two more small dogs. Yet, the selfish neighbor still keeps her dogs loose to roam all over the place freely. I started to carry my baseball bat whenever we went outside. It took me a while to find a dog that had a similar connection that I had with my little one that was killed. I recently adopted a pit bull/shepherd mix puppy (I got a puppy because I have two birds. I want to train the puppy to leave them alone and respect them). This puppy had a rough beginning in life. He and his litter mates were thrown on a hiking trail in a plastic bag. All of his litter mates were eaten by vultures. He was badly injured and about to die. Hikers brought him to a no-kill shelter, and they were able to save him. Most people here own some sort of shepherd or cattle dog. Not too many pit bulls. My other neighbors stopped by the other day to see my new puppy. They had a negative judgmental look at me to see that I had my puppy on a leash even though I live in a 21 acre property. I was exercising him to strengthen his legs. His front legs are very weak due to his injuries. I also have a playpen with a floor cover for the puppy to learn learn basic commands and have a safe place to stay while I work. The terrain here is very rocky. I want to teach him to leave rocks, etc alone. I want to teach him how to leash walk because I know that once he is strong, it will be very hard to control him, especially with so many “outside dogs” Anyway, one of the neighbors said that “dogs know” naturally to not eat rocks, and if they do, the rocks will pass through their gastrointestinal system. I was dismayed. So, your videos help to reconfirm that owning a pit bull requires more diligence, care and training. I’ve owned dogs for decades, at one point 9 dogs (large and small), but never a pit bull. So, I understand that my responsibility is even greater.
I totally understand your struggle. I moved from Queens NY to rural S.Carolina, and the attitudes about dogs are the same down here. If they don't let their dogs roam free, they tie them to a tree, which I think is even worse. You have packs of stray dogs running around down here, and everyone acts like it's normal. I won't adopt a dog until I fence in my property
Dude this was a good video. Short, Clear And straight to the point. I’m actually looking to get in the bully word so I’m always looking for videos like this to help prepare myself
Spot on explanation, my first dog I owned I would train him with treats but when he did something bad I would be negative and never showed him the right way or what I wanted so he became fearful and doesn’t trust other people besides are family and has bit my hand, now I own a pitbull but did a lot of training since a puppy thought him all the obedience commands and he’s over all a super happy dog he wiggles and licks a lot and enjoys the training time I changed the corrections with positive reinforcement and it has worked so much I feel bad for my first dog I let him down but I learned
hey man im super late, but i got my first pitbull/ amstaff puppy a month ago, he was very shy in the beginning which made him easy, then he started ”opening up” but not as in showing more happiness and emotion but more as just doing what he wanted and i got very frustrated a few times and grabbed him aswell, didnt hurt him though only scared (only grabbed him if he was biting or clearly ignoring me). this happened a few times under id say a week until i realized i was completely in the wrong getting mad, now hes 11 weeks and doing way better and a lot happier and ive changed to a positive but firm leading style. now after my rant comes my question, will this one week of not getting along perfectly damage anything? hes super lovey and excited with me but sometimes when were training he will just stop as if in fear of me getting frustrated, should i just push him positively until he breaks through it and realizes hes doing good?
My dog isn’t really aggressive but whenever I try to take him to the park with my son and daughter he gets real protective he doesn’t care about the other kids he just won’t let men and women near them but when we’re at home he friendly to everyone
My daughter found a pittie, she is 80% AMSTAFF 10% BULLTERRIOR 10% BULLDOG. We kept her because no one claimed her and the shelters were saying they would put her down because they are overrun with pitties. She is 3yrs old and we have her 7 months BUT we know nothing about her past and apprehensive about having her meet other people. She lives with my husband and I and she has been around our daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren, youngest 12 yrs old. She has been good but easily gets excited and wants to jump up, we give off command and push her down. And yes she is spayed. Looking for any guidance we can get, we adore her!!
Been watching vids about Pitbulls since I’m getting one soon and it’s all been negative things and it’s been making me rethink my choice but you have def made me realize I was always going in the right direction on how I planned to educate my dog in the future. Thank you so much!
@@getoffthecouch8436 i have a 4 month female , and she’s a good girl, obeys a lot of different commands but sometimes barks at me aggressively especially when i don’t let her bite me (she’s still teething also) any tips? 😩 or do you think this could be a bad thing? i usually don’t know what to do to stop her from barking, other than that she rarely barks
@@brianescobar4692 either put her in a crate for 2 minutes or restroom or it may be playful does she show signs of more playing or is it I’m trying to get at u if it’s rlly aggression u have to show her she can’t do that early by placing her in the crate as a timeout
@@getoffthecouch8436 oh okay i’ma start doing that, just ive been told not to use the crate as punishment because that’s also where she sleeps, all throughout the day though she gets to run around the whole house
This helps.. i have a pitbull thats getting aggressive, he eben growled at my mom.. she didn't do anything to him he just suddenly got aggressive with her. .
Ruben, great videos man. Watching loads now I’m getting a Bully. But which comes first, the training or the socialising? Socialising at a young age with all the distractions won’t help training, so I think at least basic training is needed before socialising, but please let me know your thoughts.
THANKS BRO exactly what you say describes my typical day with my boy people look and judge us and stereotype me and my boy ,it sucks and it's sad to see people shy away , so now I keep my boy away from the rest of them , some ladies are really nice they'll ask me if he sweet. I'll be like with some dogs he's ok. I have a medium size American Pitbull Terrier he's really good. My dog won't hurt nobody been around the breed for around 15+ years I'm confident in myself he won't hurt nobodys dogs or cats. It's just when people jump off the footpath or cross the fields or cross the roads that make me feel bad for my boy. 😞 Come on humans some of us owners are better than some
My AMPBT became aggressive towards other dogs , because he's gotten attacked two different times by 2 dogs that people let loose in the park ( German Shepard and husky) He still messed both of em up and their owner got upset like it was my fault when I have my dog in a secured harness.
I know my pit hates bikes and has some leash aggression so I work around it. I wasn't sure she would feel that way about a skateboard but on a walk, I pulled her off the sidewalk to let the skateboarder go by. I thought I did everything right but she was triggered by it and went to attack. She has NEVER done that and I held on to her leash with everything I had. That scared me more than almost anything has in my life. I am going to start obedience classes to find a word or something to get her to stay when she would rather charge. She is a great dog and I thought we were doing so well. She is just extremely protective of my kids.
Absolutely brilliant.....out pitbul have a beautiful temprement........we can stroke him while he eats. He won't eat untill we give him permission to eat. Very mellow with everyone, never barks unnecessary. But at night he's temprement change.......to a guard dog mode.........we noticed it....we raised him from birth....My son coming home after 3 yrs with he's toddler son. What safety measures must we take. He raised him till he left
man i am a 3rd generation dogman ... my father and grandfather ran the OFRN lines for hog hunting, run the lines myself for the last 40 years .... yes owners can play a role in aggression, but genetics plays a larger role, the better the line of pitbull the more aggressive they have proven to be, but my dogs are never human aggressive, they are DA and have huge prey drives.
Nice job. I have a ten week old red nosed pit bull puppy. Your advice has been valuable. I love the little guy, but he is a handful. I do wrestling with him, and he loves it. We run everyday after work, so he is in excellent shape. When can I quit using wet food with his dry food? He won't eat unless I have the wet food on top of the dry food? Thanks!
People say “I wanted the dog for protection” no, you wanted to ACCESSORIZE your life/home/lifestyle. Which is fine. But actions have consequences. If you adopt a high prey drive animal and don’t give it the proper socialization and training from a young age. Well, you reap what you sow.
We did make her aggressive she is really good with other dogs but she really got protective over our yard and will not let anyone in if we are not home, even friends that she knows!
Very helpful... I'm new in that pitbull world... because since i was a kid dogs always run after me and they wasn't pitbull because in my country only rich ppl have pitbull.. since i wasn't rich i never seen one when i was a kid.... until about 10 months ago my boyfriend brought his 17 years red nose to the house and get 2 more male pups 🐶. I'm learning a lot from your videos thanks a lot 🙏 for your advice
So I adopted a 1 yr old pitbull and with just me he is usually a sweetheart but the previous owner wanted an intimidating aggressive dog. He's usually good w my sis and mom but he has snapped at them a few times for basically nothing. He's also ridiculous with visitors.. I've trained a few dogs from birth who both were amazing I could sit with my bulldog no worries except chasing squirrels.. I've been trying to utilize as many training tips as I can.. I don't want to give up on him because they will just put him down.. I'm buying a muzzle when I can to assist w training in the future and will get him fixed as well. I love all animals and can see he's been through a lot
Thanks Fam I just got a blue nose gifted to me this weekend I instantly feel in love with him. Your videos are super informative and helpful thanks bro
Pit bulls are amazing dogs i have had pits and pit mixes before and they were great..pit bulls are like any dog...raise a dog to be a butthole..you will get butthole results..study the breed and understand it..and treat it with love and kindness..and train it well..youd have no problem..but thats with any dog..and pit bulls are a wonderful breed..if you understand it and are willing to be the owner any dog deserves..
i have an american bully, hes about 7-8 months i got em when he was just a baby from a hoarder who had him in a tiny ass kennel with his siblings.....i have another grown German shepard and hes gentle with the pitbull, but my pit is too feisty...trying to get him to stop biting and pulling on sweater sleeves shirts etc and nipping at hands ...any tips other than whats in the video would help
I had an American bully that grew to be 160lbs. I knew she was going to be a big girl so when I brought her home at eight weeks old I began training her to stay right by my side, not in front of me, I also stopped her jumping up on people as it would not be very cute for long, I also, every day used a flirt stick to exercise her as bully's are high energy and need that energy expelled. She grew to be the most gentle giant I have ever had. She was my souk mate, my best friend. But don't misunderstand her gentleness as she could tell when someone came to my house with I'll intentions and stayed right by my side growling at him. She let him know that she was aware of his intentions and was ready to rip him to pieces. I miss her so so much. She was so full of love. I will never have another as wonderful as her. You can see her here. ua-cam.com/video/nmrTEoMzaqw/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
I would love your opinion please. Im getting 2 American pit bull terrier puppies this weekend. I am very committed and has 5 acres where one is fenced. Will they be able to jump a 6-7 foot fence? My gardener is a trainer and had many cane corsos but do you think I could get in trouble with them not being strong enough to hold them back if I am walking them? Im pretty strong. I see people use these muzzles. What do you think about that please? I will be training and socializing them.
All dogs are different know your dogs it doesn’t matter what breed. One great way to teach your dog obedience is training school. Especially if you have a dog ranging from 20 plus pounds. Safety of your dog and especially people and their dogs.
He is too young to really stop completely. But u have to do more than one thing. 1.limit the time of play and around your kids.2always be there when they are together.to manege and control the interaction.3 redirect his biting to a toy and to a tag play. With u playing with one toy until he comes and bite it. Then u leave it. And u play with another toy tag play is the best way of teaching dogs to leave it on commend. 4.give him bones to chew on it will redirect his biting. 5.every time he bites you or your kids stop it by word / or by gentle force like the stop sign. But for that use a professional trainer so u can really learn the right way and timing of physical correction. Use food as positive response when he stop and to redirect him from biting. 6. Structure and obedience.
Try switching out for a toy when he bites and anytime he puts his mouth on you or your kids say ouch or something to show it hurts and he should pick up and realize it hurts you and he should stop if you keep consistent
Could have been alot shorter. "How to avoid aggression in your pitbull.... Buy a bully instead. " 👍 good video though on a serious note, you gave real good pointers
Hi sir i'm raising a pitbull puppy currently while i got a older pitbull mix so i'm having a hard time to differential between when thy play or fighting
Thanks for the channel always got something good to say things that people need to hear. any time I can see Beau's beautiful face im good. Luv his ears. I no i always say that. 😄✌
I remember a few years back I was living in a place in Orlando. I rented a garage apt. while a "family" lived in the main house. The guy that live there bought a pit bull puppy. Mind you this family had multiple young children in the house. I went to pet the puppy and he dragged him away from me. Dude is like "I want him to be feisty" I'm thinking, dude you got kids living in that house. That poor dog was left outside in all kinds of weather. Eventually dude ended up in prison but by then I had left, though I had had a few encounters with the dog, who was always sweet and nice around me. I ended up moving out of that place because of the crazy drama, but the fate of that poor dog always haunts me to this day
I used to live in the south Texas near the Mexican border and have them to protect us but we moved to the city Dallas man they over protecting but hopefully I get to reverse that
It takes a certain type of person to raise a pit. If ur have a soft character a pit may not be for u. They can be very dominant and will run the household if you don’t know what ur doing.
Positive reinforcement does not work with pitbull, they needs clear roles and structure, if you can't stablish that earlier, pitbull will walk all over you. I have 3 well trained rotties and and ambully, my pitbull is not an easy dog, only for advance dog owner.
I have a 2 year old Aussie(female) And my brother just brought an American bully pitbull mix(male) into the house. Should I be worried that at some point this could end up bad for my Aussie? Like maybe rough play?
Thank you these facts I’m having some trouble with my pit she’s a female and she had a little Trauma she got stuck under a gate and neighbors try to help and she attacked him and ever since then she’s not comfortable around people so these facts would definitely help I’m gonna start now she’s almost a year in October

Hey I have a question that I would like answered I got my pit from a shelter and the people who had him before didn’t teach or socialize him very well now he is trained better but I’m worried about his socializing his fur stands up and I want to know how to make him more comfortable around people and how to tell people to approach him p.s I’m 14 not a professional
My Pitt was socialized intel a dog attack him now his scare of big dogs that he don't know. He likes other animal we live in a farm , he even like little dogs, but big dogs he gets very worked up. we have 3 cats and they love each other. Any Ideas of what should I do to make him comfortable with big dogs again?
So i am getting a new born American Pit bully this def helps. Do you have any recommendations for pit bulls towards kids? I have a 6 year old niece who already was chased by an adult pit bull so shes scared.. thank god hes pretty much a new born but i dont want it to grow up aggressive against her when it gets older
I have a American pit bull terrier a pure bred it a female she does jump on people and jumps on my sofa and jumps up for food and when she sees a cat or any animal she barks and her hair goes up if some one wants to pet her or see her I bring her to them she is a good dog but very protective of me. My girlfriend took her for a walk and she pulled her all over the place she fell on her knees and my dog drug her what would you do ?
I like your style you are doing your audience a great service I am dog owner who knows and it may be added that alot of anxiety by humans is traveling right down that lead to the pets making them react exactly as one would expect so try to remember that a dog is a dog is a dog dont add to the stereotype by borrowing trouble from tommorow your pit depends on you to be a normal well adjusted fur child...I'm sorry I swear I just wanted to say great channel subscribed lol
Your dog appears very sweet we have a senior beagle only girl from the litter.of hunting dogs she has bad food aggression we reconized this as a security issue and have managed it well with the help of our rescue cats good treats and many dog friends we are hoping to adopt a pit bull puppy soon as a fostered was recently born at my neighbors house for us it's about having a good dog I have been researching pitties as I have researched beagles 14 years ago dogs make this world so much happier 🐾💜
I have a 8 week old American bulldog puppy and he keeps trying to bite my face when I tell him of , is there anything I can do to stop him doing this or do i just stick to the basic no biting training?
My American Bully started attacking visitors to my home now. He was raised indoors, with a lot of love, and he is very loving towards the family. But he wants to kill anyone who is not part of the family, so I can't get visitors without locking him up. It's a problem

Yeah, my pure apbt has more blood lust than her half bully daughter. The drive on the pure one is limitless.
Alot of non-agressive digs were initially bred for fighting , pitbulls were bred for bull fighting. They are extremely easy to train

Once the dogs has the victim between the jaws the best way to unlock 🔓 the jaws is to choke the dog by tightening the collar by hand or with a stick.

hey man im super late, but i got my first pitbull/ amstaff puppy a month ago, he was very shy in the beginning which made him easy, then he started ”opening up” but not as in showing more happiness and emotion but more as just doing what he wanted and i got very frustrated a few times and grabbed him aswell, didnt hurt him though only scared (only grabbed him if he was biting or clearly ignoring me). this happened a few times under id say a week until i realized i was completely in the wrong getting mad, now hes 11 weeks and doing way better and a lot happier and ive changed to a positive but firm leading style. now after my rant comes my question, will this one week of not getting along perfectly damage anything? hes super lovey and excited with me but sometimes when were training he will just stop as if in fear of me getting frustrated, should i just push him positively until he breaks through it and realizes hes doing good?
@@catwanYT yeah just keep doing that and eventually he’ll relate training to pure good times and treats
Ye don’t listen to the negative I have a 55 pound female at 8 months she gentle ash wouldn’t hurt a fly
@@brianescobar4692 also don’t rough house with her
@@getoffthecouch8436 oh okay i’ma start doing that, just ive been told not to use the crate as punishment because that’s also where she sleeps, all throughout the day though she gets to run around the whole house

This helps.. i have a pitbull thats getting aggressive, he eben growled at my mom.. she didn't do anything to him he just suddenly got aggressive with her. .
Thank you! I have learned alot from your site in a little bit of time!.thank you!
Ruben, great videos man. Watching loads now I’m getting a Bully. But which comes first, the training or the socialising? Socialising at a young age with all the distractions won’t help training, so I think at least basic training is needed before socialising, but please let me know your thoughts.
Very good video! Thank You Very Much..
Of course!
😞 Come on humans some of us owners are better than some
Same here, this breed deserves a chance.
Who else don't have pitbull but you just watch randomly 😂
My AMPBT became aggressive towards other dogs , because he's gotten attacked two different times by 2 dogs that people let loose in the park ( German Shepard and husky)
He still messed both of em up and their owner got upset like it was my fault when I have my dog in a secured harness.
Skateboarders and rollerbladers and very scary to them because they cause so much ground vibration.
Thanks man! Your videos are very helpfull
Great Video.
Thanks. Subscribed and liked. Do u have a video about having them sleepers in dog crates or training not to bark while baby is sleeping.
It's been a minute since I've had a dog! Your videos brought back a lot that I had forgotten! Training my pup just got a little easier. Thank you!
Thank you ✌️ 😇
Great tips! ThNx
I am getting a pitbull this helps alot thanks!
No cap about pitbull owners make them agressive because my pitbull is energetic and sweet she don't bark at people or dogs
Is she a pure bred American pit bull terrier?
I don't but mines is still aggressive
Mine does and I wonder is it too late to train he is going on 3
Great!
Thank you for training me the human we need it most 🙏
Thanks man. What can I do when people show fear though man she picks up on it right away.
Appreciate people like you doing your part. We have to teach people there are no bad dogs just bad owners. Good luck with your channel.
Thank you love your videos. Just got a pup and I’m using all you tips. Thanks again
Man, I really like your channel!!

Hey I have a 8 week old puppy I trained him already how to sit down and potty train. Question and how many weeks can I start training him other things

I agree my puppy has been biting but he is only 12 weeks old but I don't want him biting my kids. I don't know how to stop it.
Naturally Naturals Way he is Teething
No way man apbt are the best you get a bully when your to weak to handle a true spartan
@@shellyjette8301 that was exactly my point 😁

I remember a few years back I was living in a place in Orlando. I rented a garage apt. while a "family" lived in the main house. The guy that live there bought a pit bull puppy. Mind you this family had multiple young children in the house. I went to pet the puppy and he dragged him away from me. Dude is like "I want him to be feisty" I'm thinking, dude you got kids living in that house. That poor dog was left outside in all kinds of weather. Eventually dude ended up in prison but by then I had left, though I had had a few encounters with the dog, who was always sweet and nice around me. I ended up moving out of that place because of the crazy drama, but the fate of that poor dog always haunts me to this day
Do you think my puppy and cat will get along or is there steps I can take to help them co exist
Great video dude, also that dog looks like my oldest, American Bulldog/American Staffordshire mix. I fully agree with all you mentioned in video.👍
I used to live in the south Texas near the Mexican border and have them to protect us but we moved to the city Dallas man they over protecting but hopefully I get to reverse that
Is this muller in Austin tx?
Thank I’m a new dog owner
Thank you, I thought this was very well done and good information.
It takes a certain type of person to raise a pit. If ur have a soft character a pit may not be for u. They can be very dominant and will run the household if you don’t know what ur doing.
My neighbors with a pitbull needs yo watch this
I understand the positive reinforcement for rewards but what do you do when the dog is aggressive?!?
Positive reinforcement does not work with pitbull, they needs clear roles and structure, if you can't stablish that earlier, pitbull will walk all over you. I have 3 well trained rotties and and ambully, my pitbull is not an easy dog, only for advance dog owner.
I have a 2 year old Aussie(female)
And my brother just brought an American bully pitbull mix(male) into the house.
Should I be worried that at some point this could end up bad for my Aussie?
Like maybe rough play?
Thank you for the great tips! 😀
Thanks dude i may get one in a couple years when i can afford to take care of it and get a big property
I like it
Yes bro ily
Subscribed and took your advice on the kibble and my Lola girl luvs it thanks 😊

I like your style you are doing your audience a great service I am dog owner who knows and it may be added that alot of anxiety by humans is traveling right down that lead to the pets making them react exactly as one would expect so try to remember that a dog is a dog is a dog dont add to the stereotype by borrowing trouble from tommorow your pit depends on you to be a normal well adjusted fur child...I'm sorry I swear I just wanted to say great channel subscribed lol
