I’ve learned A LOT having mine the last 7 years. I was worried when he was younger because I heard a lot about pit bulls in general...one of the commands I taught him was “ouch”, so he knew when to stop play biting...even now he will stop biting and start licking :)

Love the tip about treating your dog like a animal. I think people kind of misunderstand “treat your dog like an animal” and take it the wrong way. At the end of the day it is an animal but deserves respect. You show your dog respect, it gives it back 10 fold.

Your Comment is the Truth, dogs are not our babies. Never abuse your puppy, no choker collars, shock collars, etc. Everything that comes from the owner is suppose to be good. I do not believe in raw meat, and dog food is very important, because of the ingredients. Never baby your dog, and train them you are the Alpha, and you are sharing your home with them. Never allow a Trainer to train your dog or leave your dog with a trainer. Research for a Trainer who instructs you to train your own dog, and your dog will bond with you, and learn you are the Alpha. Socialize your dog when a puppy with children in your family and adult family members. Wait until your puppy is fully vaccinated, before socializing with other dogs, unless you have a dog at home healthy and fully vaccinated.

A lot of people don't take the importance of their dog's exercise program into account that's why pitbulls have the unfortunate reputation of being vicious. Same thing goes for other dog breeds with the same reputation, if they spend too much time restricted to close quarters instead of running around in open spaces they develop too much penned up energy and become extremely aggressive so it's really nice to hear from a "bull breed" owner that takes his dogs exercise program into account thank you for the refreshing information brother.

I know people that spend more money on weed in a day! So very worth it. Hes so incredibly sweet and nevrr barks. I walk/run him 2x a day, and we play with the billy stick. He loves to chase me in the park, which is kind of terrifying lol.

My bullypit is a large 4 month old already introduced to "blue " kibble for puppies..... As well as 80/20 raw ground meats as well as some fruits and veggies that dogs are allowed as well as a raw egg weekly she loves it... Also at times she still eats her doggie wet food.

Everything you say makes sense. I'm a new pittie/dog mama, but I got my dog from a rescue. It's so many misunderstood pitties living in dog shelters, I just didn't feel right getting one from a breeder. What advice can you give for those of us that adopted pitbulls and do not have information on the parents and no pedigree?

    1. Know the health and genetics of your dog's parents (phenotypes, health)
    2. Have the proper gear for your dog (crate, collar, bed, bowl)
    3. Have the proper training in place (basic fundamentals)
    4. Make your home puppy proof
    5. Know what diet you want (bad diet = health problems; choose a diet and budget for it)
    6. Have an emergency budget (veterinarian visits, medications, emergencies)
    7. Set boundaries in the house
    8. *Do not treat your dog like a human* Treat them with respect, but not with the same rights and privileges as a human being. Treat it like an animal because if *is* an animal
    9. Know the breed that you own
    10. Plan for the exercise needs of your dog
    11. Avoid bringing a new puppy if you have a dog at home that is not fully trained
    12. Avoid heavy exercises / weight pulling
    13. Do not be susceptible to marketing for nutrition supplements for your dog.
    14. Socialize your dog (also with people and humans) with outdoor elements
    15. Check your dog's dental hygiene

Do you have any kind of training plan template? Something like a broad example of a scheduled daily routine for a new dog? Just as a guide for the right direction to go in during the early days with a new pet? Like a broad, jumping off point, that new owners could build from, and use as a tool to create a plan specific to their needs and the needs of their new dog. Also, this was a great and informative video. You did a fantastic job of clearly and concisely getting these points across. It wasn’t confusing like some other similar videos out there, and you brought up some great points that a lot of people may not think of.

Thanks For Representing The Breed🙏💖 Keep up the Educating.. N sharing yur babies with us 🌝 Sorry this may b to long. But may b interesting advise for some 1. I hope so... As it worked well for me. When I raised my Pitties. (Rednose) Mama n daughter. I thought to my self.. when they get older they may loose their hearing or vision. So I taught them lots of hand commands.. incase 1 day they cud not hear.. they stil knew what I was asking of them.. n I made sure for the most part as they got older not to make major furnitur moves.. so they cud stil get around the house on their own. n b confident where they were going.. Stil get to their food/water bowl etc.. Fortunately there aging symptons did not get that bad.. But since then I have seen othr friends whose dogs who have got that way.. n I am so glad to know I prepared mine for that day.
Also.. I found it Great to b able to put my hands every where n any where on them incase I ever had to in an emergency. This way they were always familiar with what I was doin.. n Not freak out if the time ever came. They both lived to b shy of 16yrs old 💞 As with my recent girl (blue bully) it was a Blessing I had did all of this.. As she became disabled n her trust level allowed her to b secure in all I did with n for her. N when she had a seziur I was able to grab her tounge from down her throat n save her from choking. Then use a wooden spoon til her sezure was ovr. I saved her life that day. N with out that trust I dont think I wud have ben able to. Amongst other things..They are a loyal loving goofy breed ❣️
Some 1 on here made the comment that 75% of owners fight them. Although their are that group of those do that.
Personaly I think that % is way to high....
Keep up the Good Work 🌞

I taught this to so many people in my time fostering and retraining bullies from all walks of life. I wish people would research more. I owned a staffordshire terrier and though retraining was hard due to having been in a fighting ring situation, she grew to be the best dog I've owned. I raw feed my dogs a balanced diet that is vet approved. Each dog is different not just breed wise but personality wise. We puppy proof to the extent of keeping the pup in like a baby fence ring thing and padding all corners of all furniture. We have a sensitive tummy husky so having that emergency budget is something i wish i had. We only kennel when potty training and if we all have to leave for whatever reason. My house is operated with a pack mentality. Im the Alpha and the rest of the house dogs make their status known with in our pack over time. My partner is a runner so before they can get leashed they must sit and wait. He runs with them daily. The husky is a runner so exercise is easy. Joint care is huge which is why we raw feed and do not do more than running until they are 2. My husky did not do any working things aside from maybe herding until he was 2. Raw feeding has been a god send. I wish more would research it. Dental hygiene checks! Thank you! My husky chipped a k9 pulling the fence apart and if i didn't do weekly checks he would have been in bad shape im sure. My groomer operates a rescue and she is a huge advocate for bully breeds. If i miss something she finds it. 🖤

I rescued a pitt whippet mix (the best the vet could guess) who came up to my porch starving and almost too weak to walk. She is getting strong now. We are working on gaining weight and building more muscle.

I’m a new Pittie mix momma. My baby(yes, I said baby) is a APBT/Mastiff mix. I’ve been doing LOTS of research on the APBT and Mastiff breeds. The lady I got him from said he was mixed with Cane Corso. I’ve seen the parents. Nope. Didn’t look Corso to me. I did Embark DNA. He came back quite the mix but APBT/Mastiff is very prominent.

I got a amstaff pitbull mix off from a backyard breeder, my dog is pretty calm he has his spurts of high energy but he is very receptive of how I am so if I'm laying down or just relaxing he does the same. For exercise we walk hills and I let him pull but I restrict how hard he pulls. We still got some training to do but so far he's an awesome dog. I was surprised with how strong he is for a dog his size, 19 inches at the withers at 9 months old and about 45-50lbs

I'm glad I found this channel. I would like a dog but have been on the fence because of the commitment. I'm a single mom so I'm not sure if i want the added responsibility right now. I am drawn to this breed for a number of reasons, primarily to be the eyes and ears of my house and to watch out for my kid. We can be cool but I'm not getting a dog to be cute all the time. I'm going to make my daughter watch this video before we discuss again!

We just got our first pit pup today. We already discussed and planned diet and exercise for when he's big/old enough. I just hope we give him a good life. We need him to be a loyal protector of the house and kids, BUT also loved like a true family companion. His dad is a big baby 140lb pit. His mama is a sweet natured, healthy blue nose. So mine is definitely a pit but he's a mixed pit apparently. Lol He's gonna be big though. 8 weeks old and his paw fills my hand! Lol I already have my other dogs on a raw diet and it's GREAT!!! RAW diet is also excellent for dental health amongst other benefits... also agree socialization is KEY!!!

My pit/rot is the baby out of the 3 dogs I have. Minpin is 7ish years old. Boarder collie is almost 2. Pit/rot is 11 months almost. I feed Purina beef shredded to all of them.

That’s kinda funny, we just picked up a 1week old supposedly Pittbull/Graman Shepard mix and we named him Rogan. Rogue for short. He’s so tiny! Trying to rehabilitate him. He’s about 6 weeks now according to the vet. Only weighs 12lbs. Looking for a good puppy supplement to help make him stronger and grow the way he should. We have 2 other purebred American Pitt bull terrors that we rescued. The oldest is 6 and weighs about 100 lbs. Gracie, our middle Pitt was from a bad home and the runt. She just went into heat at 5 months old. Waiting to get her spayed until closer to a year old. I had a complete hysterectomy at 35. I know what that crap feels like & what it does. Any advice would help. Thanks. Especially on supplements.

No I totally agree treat your dog like a dog. I love my Bella with all my heart, shes pretty much my first child. She has boundaries and structures to a T. Also make sure if you get a dog from a breeder that they are weened off of their parent(s) because if not you have to be aware on how to handle that. Especially new dog owners in general, I know you want to take them home right away, but sometimes you will need to wait and have that breeder ween them off properly because that can cause you issue in the future especially if you don't take the proper steps after.

Have helped raise family dogs since I was a kid. Recently got MY 1st and it's a American Pitbull x American Bulldog. Hes 40 lbs at 4 months and has massive paws that he is struggling to grow into Haha. Since he will be pretty big and he is always acknowledged as a pitty I'm doing everything i can to train him to near perfection so we can break the stigma of "pitbulls" or "bullies". He is doing very well. So many ppl ask if i take him to obedience training but its just me and my research being applied.

This was a super informative and helpful video! I’ve had dogs and raised puppies most my life, and I thought I knew most everything, but watching your video gave me a couple things to consider that I really hadn’t thought much about. I currently have a year old, female, pitbull/chihuahua mix. We got her (she was rehomed to us from a neighbor who had to deploy overseas) only about 2 months ago and I’m having a really hard time with getting her to go potty outside. For whatever reason she goes in her crate (she’s been crate trained by the original owner) or inside the house, but not outside. I take her out every couple hours and when I do she doesn’t go potty, then as soon as we come back inside she immediately goes on the floor!? I’ve talked to my vet, googled and tried a few ideas that I’ve come across and asked a few friends for advice and nothing seems to be working. I’d really appreciate any tips you might have for me regarding this?
    Thanks in advance! 😊🤞🏻🐶❤️

    • @mommaang9005
      @mommaang9005 3 роки тому +1

One more thing I might add... im somewhat thinking it’s a rebellious thing?! She’s probably having a hard time adjusting because we live in an apartment and she lived right next door. Her other “mom” moved out and she stayed here with us. It’s probably very confusing about where she went and why she can still smell and see her other home and yet she can’t go over there anymore. If this is the reason for the potty issues (her original owner assured me that she was “fully” potty trained and “NEVER” has accidents... 🤦🏻‍♀️) how can I help her adjust to the changes and break this habit or change this behavior?

    • @ewpls4002
      @ewpls4002 3 роки тому +1

@@mommaang9005 Honestly you might just have to be patient with her :( If you catch her going inside carry her out. For the immediately going on the floor, I'd recommend sitting and waiting outside with her if time permits and praising her for going outside. You can also try setting up a schedule to go outside with her every day, for example take her outside every 2-3 hours until she goes. Hope this helps!
