dopo tanti like devo commentare ; vedo pochi commenti in italienische....
Bellissimo Chiara, grande espressione. Magnifica come sempre.
It's because she's beautiful and should let the world enjoy her eye candy as well as her ear candy. Please don't ever stop doing what you do Chiara! I enjoy seeing your videos so much! ...and thank you for filling my work days with live Bach harpsichord music. ...I sometimes minimize my work screen just to watch you play. Thanks again! XOXO
I've been following several of these performances by Chiara Massini, and this impresses me as the best I've thus far heard, the more kin that I've studied this particular prelude and fugue in my childhood. The tempos are perfect for both movements, neither unduly rushed. And while I heartily agree with how the prelude was presented, I cannot say quite the same thing for the fugue. I would vastly prefer a far more even articulation, without those annoying halts at the beginning of measures, and with the eighth notes detached, without any slurring. The prelude can take a little give and take interpretation; the fugue far less so, and rather needs to move more steadily.
Its fascinating how some people need to judge in disgraceful terms "show less your face for bachs sake" or "its too fast godamnit". I dont play this piece THAT way but appreciate how this performer sees it. I like Gould extreme velocity, Tureck so precise and attentive to every detail, like Leonhardt always dark and maybe lutherianely closer to the composer than anyone, Richter and this version also. The temperament is perfect instrument and ladywise. Thanks.
There seems to be a direct connection between the mind of JSB and those wonderful fingers - through the notes on the page to those magnificently expressive eyes, animating the whole body and ending where the fingers touch the keyboard. In our age we are blessed to have so many great performers of Bach's works, none greater than Chiara Massini
Brava! Incidentally, I am still waiting to hear someone embellish the sigh motives of the Prelude with Anschlags in the repeats, in recognition of the galant nature of the piece. There is a version with Pralltrillers indicated at those points.
I think your interpretation is a tad too emotional, I'd prefer more purity of form - but well done, you are certainly a wonderful player!!! Outstanding instrument BTW!
That's the problem. In truth I came for a musical interpretation and perhaps some insight into JSB, not Hollywood.

What's your problem? Just close your eyes if you find the expression of this great artist to be distracting. I personally enjoy seeing musicians performing.
Sensibility. Listen the music. Open you hearth for the beauty of human nature. Did not Bach write about exactly tempo. Listen Landowska, please, God, in the heaven, say "thank you so much".
+Espírita Doutrina Anyone who would consider Wanda Landowska as a benchmark in these modern times is a tragically sad anachronism, I am sorry to say. Landowska was a fine musician to be sure. So was Andres Segovia - but both were dreadfully ill-informed regarding baroque performance practice. Chiara's tempo here is perfect - and I've heard a LOT of harpsichord music over the past 50 years. Kenneth Gilbert, Scott Ross, Peter Watchorn, Skip Sempe, Davitt Moroney, Luc Beausejour, Jean Rondeau - all astoundingly fine musicians (like Chiara) who make Landowska seem embarrassingly outdated and old-fashioned in comparison. My opinions, of course, is no more valid than yours or any one else's - but there is room for varying tastes among all of the arts.
Not bad, but, frankly, you could work on your sense sense of timing, you re rushing where you shouldn't , and way too many hesitant ritardandos.. just count! play it straightfoward! This is Bach. Bach was a lover.Lovers groove. Dont play it sentimentally, or hesitantly. On the beat. When you do the repeats, THAT is the moment to leave more air and silence! but in those precious gaps, you rush it, and with that, destroy the opportunity for a fresh start on the repetition. So, yeah, not bad, but work on that timing!
Beautifully, elegantly performed with the rubato pitched just right, as in all your performances. I wish you still published more videos!

Sempre musica perfetti! Bellissima! Grazie mille, cara Chiara!
That's definitely my favourite of the 48. And a great recording of it . thanks.

Grande!! Bravissima, impeccabile ed espressiva. Stupenda!
Heerlijke muziek, Chiara!

Bellissimo Chiara, grande espressione.

Soddisfatti.
Magnifica come sempre.
What a great performance! Das Cembalo klingt super. Così buono.

I'll be sure to perform this in my jockstrap for you. Make sure you catch ALL the beauty
Straordinaria.

Impeccabile, come sempre!
Muy profesional muy buena. 🌟🖐️
Resto incantato, grazie!
I do not speak Italian well, so my compliments in English....very well performed! I'll consider it my Birthday gift a day early.
A very beautiful lady, playing a very beautiful instrument ,with such skill. Be still now,and listen !
Me encanta. Gracias Chiara
Love it!, fascinating!
very nice! Thanks for this upload!
💘 Tolle Spielart.

The best, as always. :)
amazing , beautiful playing :)
Beautiful
Perfect tempi!
excelent....
This is fascinating to watch. I had no idea how the extra row of keys was activated until I saw you push the top row back for the third movement.
I love this bit 00:30 to 0:50
Bravissima Chiara. Complimenti!
❤❤❤
Charming =)
Fuge f-moll - BWV 881b - begins at 4:00 precisely...
Brava! Incidentally, I am still waiting to hear someone embellish the sigh motives of the Prelude with Anschlags in the repeats, in recognition of the galant nature of the piece. There is a version with Pralltrillers indicated at those points.
🌈🎶🌸
Fugue at 4:04 :)
What?
Bellisimo,,
Schitterend!
Inderdaad!
I am sad your dog isn't in this video.
So similar to the prelude fugue and allegro bwv 998
Nice performance. Really better than the pianist playing with harmonic pedal. Incomparable
Incluso más que el 881...
What are these infinite rhythm stops all about?
I like the inégalité and the phrasing. I would love a better video recording though.
I think your interpretation is a tad too emotional, I'd prefer more purity of form - but well done, you are certainly a wonderful player!!! Outstanding instrument BTW!
agogic!?
I love not being able to see her hands.

02:45 through 04:50.
Yo la pongo es gratis. $$
Beautiful, but why such exaggerated emotion - a distraction from exquisite playing.
Why do you record your face and body?. The interesting things are happening on the keyboard.
+Pietas X Simple. Because Chiara is an astonishingly beautiful woman.

@@bruceanderson5538 You don't have to watch the screen.
Why the präeludium is SO fast?? Only because is so easy? ahh..Oh, my God, listen Landowska.
Sensibility. Listen the music. Open you hearth for the beauty of human nature. Did not Bach write about exactly tempo. Listen Landowska, please, God, in the heaven, say "thank you so much".
+Espírita Doutrina You're clearly not a musician.
+BAxitorCH I'm a professional musician since 1990, and your sensibility is the worst.

Nice playing but the harpsichord is out of tune.
Could do without faces music is good enough.
