The match he's talking about is the only time Giggs, Keane, Scholes, Ronaldo, Rooney and Van Nistelrooy started together. And they couldn't score. Not a bad front 6 but that Milan defence was incredible.

@@wolfswinkel8906 Legendary players, but not exactly a legendary team. It was 2004-05, one of Fergie's few trophyless seasons, although to be fair we really should've taken home the FA Cup that season after practically battering Arsenal for a full 120 mins. But no doubt this was a lull in between greater Man Utd teams.

Italian defense in the early 2000s was on an absurdely different level. It was already difficult to get rid of Gattuso. Once you let him behind, you had to deal with Cannavaro, Nesta and Maldini. But even if you managed to get past them, you would find yourself facing no one less than Buffon. It's ridiculous, when you think about it.

90s even tougher. 80s it will be good you stay not injured after the match. 90s is the stage that fifa need to change rules to help strikers. 00s actually already start going downhill.

@@samdefore2692 yea is true against australia it was a big dive. The penalty France get in the final was a dive too at it could cost us the trophy....... But what i can say is that Italy in 2006 attacked a lot. Star team with full of stars and experience in every part of the pitch. Inzaghi and Del Piero in the bench lol !! Totti playing with one leg etc etc. We beat Germany in the semifinal with 4 forward in the extra time. 12 goals scored 2 goals conceded. Since 2006 Italy is different. It improved is game in attack. We don't cry as before, we don't dive as before but everybody still hate us for the past. Never mind who cares. One think is for sure. The total football of the dutch, the physical presence of the english, the tiki taka of the spanish, the defensive pragmatism of italians, the wonders of the brazilians. It enriches the game and makes it always new and interesting. Second, Italy’s unlike say France or Dutch aren’t filling their teams 80% with first generation migrants. France’s population is greater than Italy’s and their first World Cup was 1998, with half the team made up oh non french descent. We don't have anything against the Dutch as a nation... About my own comment, I was referring to the fact many Dutch look down on Italy, maybe because of stereotypes - just like the Dutch are said to be greedy etc. (but not in Italy, anyway)... not taking it personal but from what I saw around myself in the NL and in years in the UK, many Dutch are rude especially the women, and I mean, putting aside the fact that rude acts in one culture are normal in another.

Example: they (and the English) always go on about how they're so much better, more civil, and different from the Germans. But look how the English representatives and people behaved at Wembley: booing the national anthem first, then refusing the 2nd place medals and leaving the stadium before the end of the ceremony. Even the Royals and entourage didn't greet and just shake hands with our President, and they were next to him. They behave exactly like the Na&is in their own films - spoiled, antisportive, unfair (in the attitude), not willing to just admit they lost, and to a nation they (wrongly) see as culturally, if not ethnically, inferior... (whereas the Germans are in fact often very well-meaning and kind to everyone...)

Concordo. Inspiegabilmente risaltava meno. È un giocatore che ho davvero adorato

He is talking about 2004-05. Played Milan home and away and it wasn't just Ruud who was like a headless chicken. None of the man Utd players got much of a touch or opportunity. Milan won 1-0 in both legs, but that was being polite. That Milan team was anything but defensive. With seedorf, pirlo, kaka, sheva, inzaghi and crespo, that was one hell of an attacking team.

I appreciate the respect Ruud has vs Milan defence. But we should not forget that Ancellotti's Milan was absolutely a team based on attacking and ball possession, with many n°10s togheter on the pitch (during his cycle he had Rui Costa, Seedorf, Pirlo, RIvaldo, Kaka and at least 3 of these were constantly playing togheter). Every match of that squad was a real show to watch!

Nations have cyclical success in European football. I’m from UK, and our clubs are currently enjoying that. I love the different styles of each country and how they combat opponents formations and their “modus operandi” that is unique to each nation. I admire the technical approach and pressing game, derived from patiently applied pressure by Italian teams. The economical and clinical precision of the “Bundasliga”. The flair, and flowing passing game in Spain. I admit to bias, but feel that the English game is unequalled in terms of sheer excitement and drama. Barcelona v Liverpool. Milan v Liverpool. Spurs v Ajax. I think you’ll agree that they were a few of the most dramatic games in recent years. The English game is an unpredictable mixture of physical strength and speed, with an explosive dimension that is hard to contain when played at its best.
