So glad to hear that. I knew it would be a few day before I was able to get this done, thus the mention in the last vid. Did you like it better or worse than the old Soundcloud?
It's probably easier to use. For me especially i try not to to change the tabs in roll 20 as it can feel quite clunky on a low resolution screen. Plus you get the use of youtube now instead of having to rip the music off of a video and then uploading it yourself. Seems more like an upgrade than a setback.
Thanks! Nice solution. But still, I miss the feature of playing sounds simultaneously. For a village, I mixed music theme with other sounds (marketplace buzz, various animal sounds, people talking, children laughter) and it made the place so much alive...
You can still use any of the built in audio players. So if you play your music with watch2gether, you can always load in combat sounds from battlebards directly from Roll20. Since music/ambiance won't have to be very micromanaged once you start it, I find it just as easy as before.
GOLD! GOLD I TELL YOU! While Roll20 added some new audio alternatives, there were some things in Soundcloud that I really wanted to use that aren't in the new alternatives. Keep up the great work!
Completely disagree. 1. Uploading music you do not own can break copyright laws. 2. Who wants to spend time downloading music from youtube and upload it to Fanburst? Pass.
You can use Voicemeeter to stream audio from your computer into your Discord/Skype/whatever else call. Advantage of that is that you can use this together with Syrinscape, which is by far the best ambience-mixing software I am aware of. You can also combine that with actual songs played by regular media player. Audio played from videos can't beat this combination. The only issue is that Syrinscape isn't for free. But you can get all fantasy ambience and song sets for 6.5 USD per month I think, which is price more than justified, as things you can do with Syrinscape are just crazy good. The only thing Syrinscape lacks is more powerful and quick and easy to use GUI, current one can get a little bit clumsy from time to time.
While it doesn't have some of the good Elder Scrolls soundtracks, the new linkage roll20 has to Incompetech is great and gives you full access to Kevin Macleod's entire library, which contains hundreds of songs. I'm barely through the D's alphabetically, and have filled out most of my playlists with 5-10 songs each. Kevin does great stuff!
Excellent Heads Up Man!!! Getting more and more stuff into roll20 handouts, so this will take a lot of the pressure off some of the setup and prep stages. THANKS!
Yes sir!!! And.. what does a DM need in his arsenal.. TIMERS... I just made 4 api countdown timers for 10 sec, 15 sec, 30 sec, and 1 min... It actually counts down, and because of some creative png pics, I have it rotate while counting down. And using your nested macros to call the start once I pull out the right token. ROLL20 ROCKS!!! Edit*** not my api tho... I just created the different timer setups using the api... sorry about that!
Oh, the neat free option of a timer... using your system in the video above.. is to click the soundcloud link, type jeapardy, and add a jeapardy think song to the playlist... Then, it's right there when you need it in Watch2Gether! Some others in there too.
I'd recommend rabb.it, it's a streaming website where someone can remotely control a (presumably) emulated linux-based instance of Firefox. Only one person can use it at a time, but everybody sees what they're doing. The audio actually sounds pretty decent and it allows the use of things like Tabletop Audio's Soundpad, as well as playing all your youtube/soundcloud etc. links. My group tried it last time and it worked great.
Hey there ! :) was wondering if you new if there was anyway to incorporate Syrinscape Fantasy Player into Roll20? I am long time GM just getting started here on roll20. So much to learn haha Thank you for the amazing videos keep up the awesome work.
I'll repost from below, maybe there is an error somewhere... Hey Cody.. I was wondering... While watching your vid, I saw your initial home page of roll20 where your games are. And, I see some of your diff games. So my question is... If you have many games going on, do you have a separate game for each group? or run it all out of the same game all separated by permissions and maps depending? Reason I ask, if you are not running it all out of one game... How are you keeping up with ... new additions that you want in all of the games (for instance.)? Using Transmografier and having a day at the many handouts.. (say.. another addition of strahd) copying to each game? Does this make sense? ;) Anyways, I see there can be a few ways to ... organize everything... but what have you found to be ... the easier setup? I'm at that point now so not sure what's the next step, thanks.
James, I have a master campaign that I have built the PHB and my DMG macros into. I simply copy that game for new games. I only recently upgraded to the Pro level sub. But beforehand I would use the character vault to move any monsters over. Does that help?
Thanks for showing me this tool. I love it except for one eency-weency little problem I have with it...the videos stop playing after about 20-30 seconds and then it skips to another video when my 7 other players are in the room on DND night. When I'm testing it out and in the room by myself, it just plays one or two songs and then doesn't play anymore until I tab back over to its window and it starts playing again, but keeps playing the same song. Was wondering if you have heard of this problem or had it happen to you, and if there's any other fix for it other than clearing my cache.
Hello First of all thank you so much for these videos. Secondly, why don't you use build in sound in Roll20? Second question, if I may, have you heard and or manage to integrate Syrinscape?
Anyone know where you can upload your gaming music and share with your players, like Roll20's Jukebox/Fanburst connection? I don't want to rely on streaming music from youtube or some other site. I'd like to upload my own gaming music, create playlists and play during online gaming sessions.
+Taking20 If someone joins the room after the music has started will the music play for them at the current spot, or will it not play, or will it play from the beginning?
B D can’t comment on audio but as far as dynamic lighting goes I recommend staying away from the advanced dynamic lighting feature as it’s broken. In my experience as a DM, players can see the whole map if they zoom out far enough.
Fanburst is great if your player can't handle both apps! I still like watch2gether because it just does more. And having UA-cam capabilities.... wow, that is a game changer for my musical selection.
True, I do like youtube library, but I have a problem with alternate tabs on google chrome cause they keep "stopping", so players have to look at the tab for the music to actually play. Doesn't happen with mozilla firefox though.
He's made a video for people to look at. He's sharing his personal preference. You're pushing yours. And if you're taking the route of just waiting for something to be fixed, cool. My dude said forget that and took stuff into his hands. I know you feel like you have to defend this comment since you took the time to make it, but no.
THANK YOU!! Taking20 Out here saving DM LIVES, son!
Damn man, you get me with this every time. Lol
In this video I walk through the best music solution for your Roll20 games.
I've used this for a game and it worked really well. Thanks for the heads up in the last video.
So glad to hear that. I knew it would be a few day before I was able to get this done, thus the mention in the last vid. Did you like it better or worse than the old Soundcloud?

Thanks for the feedback Sweedrock. I completely agree. Watch2gether has been a big improvement for my game.
Thanks! Nice solution.

That part with him and his kid at the end made my heart melt
GOLD! GOLD I TELL YOU!

Thanks Ron! I will certainly try.

Glad you are enjoying the content! Don't forget to subscribe!
Shitty troll is shitty
Certainly that wasn't needed The Philocrates !!!
Since this is a couple of years old now - is there a new best solution? In-game Roll20 music skips or get stuck.
discord bot music seems to be the best option

Love hearing that James. Best of luck in your games!
And remember, the best DMs are Lethal DMs right? Right? mwahahahahaha

James, that is badass sir! Man... just thanks. Thanks for sharing. That's awesome.

+James McCullough hahahaha. I'll definitely be adding jeapordy to a playlist

Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out.

God bless you sir !!, I just started DMing and this was such a help
The whole series is excellent, thank you, more people need to know about this. So I've told my friends! Liked, Commented and Subscribed!
It is good, as long as you have some good connection or computer. Roll20 takes already a lot of resources, Watch2gether does too.
Awesome videos thank you! Question: do you still feel like this is best music solution?
Great solution the Soundcloud issue!
Love the video!! Want to know how you got Catan in your library doh! :D

It's all synced up, they'll hear what you hear.
Problem is that this website doesn't seem to have an option to allow the video to loop.
this needs an update! any chance you're release an update audio and dynamic lighting as Roll20 has changed things this year.
B D can’t comment on audio but as far as dynamic lighting goes I recommend staying away from the advanced dynamic lighting feature as it’s broken. In my experience as a DM, players can see the whole map if they zoom out far enough.
So I dont need to use my ukulele?
Now we have Fanburst.

@@TheBinklemNetwork The above options are better than Soundcloud in every way. Get over yourself. You must always RP knights.
And now we don't have fanburst.
