i've had my oneplus 5 since 2017. I even kept it around even though I upgraded to the 7T Pro. Tonight, I finally decided to revisit these videos and upgrade the batteries on both these phones. Thanks for these videos! happy to report that my hands are only a little bit cut up lol.
Where did you get your battery from? I want to get a fresh one for my 5.

On a different note, I was wondering if you were planning to do a tear down of Huawei Mate 9. You already did a scratch/burn/bend/durability test a while back, and mentioned you were gonna do a tear down also, but as I waited, it seems you forgot about it. I would really appreciate it if you could do it, and even if not, still many thanks for your great videos! Keep up the good work, and greetings from Iran!

I've been waiting for this one, although I was worried what JRE might find... but it sounds like the biggest faults are the boring battery, and the lack of waterproofing or OIS, both of which I can live with :) Thanks for the comprehensive look!

Editing, planning, learning about the inside of the phone. I'd say more than 10.
The filming teardown was about 45 minutes, editing and voiceover was about 5 hours. Rendering/uploading/ title/ description/ tags, were another 2 hours. So about 8 hours total.
You are amazing! Always an extremely informative video that is short & sweet but covers all the details. No annoying music, voice, etc. Do you realize how often you are quoted on other videos? And the thousands of people who will not buy a phone UNTIL JerryRigEverything performs his tests. You, my man, are a LEGEND!!!

A friend of mine had his OnePlus5 washed in the washing machine. I was able to use your video to change it's battery and cleaned the ribbon contacts to fix the phone.
I'm proud because this was the first phone ever that I had opened and repaired!
I still have my OnePlus 5 as my second phone. Still works perfectly fine with no issues!

Hey Zack, have you seen the jelly effect reports? They say it's because OP mounted the screen upside down. Could this be repaired by disarming the phone and flipping the display somehow? Or it's impossible?
I want to know this too, but I heard somewhere that it's because of the design. So maybe impossible.

thanks a bunch for this video. I didn't need to replace anything, but the volumen button got bent by being dropped in a very unlucky way. the volume up button was permanently pressed, which, as you can imagine, is not an ideal thing.
I was a bit scared of opening the thing up myself, but I felt comfortable following your instructions. I applied a little bit of pressure on the volume button from the inside and rectified it. Phone works perfectly again
still in McD right now.. but i got Notification from zach, so i watch this with some Mac on my hand 👍

Nice to see that the ports that will wear out hopefully not within 3 years but eventually are easily replaceable. Also that the battery looks fairly easy to replace as that will eventually wear out. Really with 8 GB of RAM your looking at a very long lasting phone with replaceability as long as you dont get it wet!
