It really sucks when the original creator of the product does not get all the credit. The founder of the Roost invented the product, then Nextstand copied their design and took market share, really really sucks
I partially agree. However, Roost for example does not really ship well to Europe and Nextstand does. The other things is that competition is a good thing and both have added features over the last few years and made improvements. I generally get your point and I for example still buy the PeakDesign Capture Clip instead of the 20$ knock offs. But sometimes I also try and see what the alternatives have to offer.
For me, having worked for years conducting ergonomic workplace assessments the height is the key point. Most laptop stands just don't get to the right height. I would pick the one that gives you the best screen height.
Nice vlog. Unless you're working through an earthquake or someone intentionally pushing your laptop, I can't justify paying double for the Roost Stand. Nexstand for me but that's my opinion. Easy to replace if I lose it or break it
Thank you for the great review! Would be curious to hear about the roost v3 if you're planning another review. Would also be interested to hear if you had any issues with MacBook Pro screen tilt using the roost - it looks like the roost angles the laptop forward more, so would be concerned that I wouldn't be able to tilt the screen back enough to be positioned properly towards my eyes (I'm 6 foot 6). Thanks again!
Hi Richard, I contacted Roost but up to this point they did not send out a Roost V3 and I currently will not buy it just to review. Thus far I had no issues with the different stands and my MacBook (one from 2017, the new M1Max 2021, and also with the M1 MacBook Air). It worked in both stands. However, I am 5.9 feet (182cm).
Thank you, I appreciate that. Thanks for sending out the Nexstand K2 for me to review. I'll most likely bring that one to my next trip to Spain. The added height really is the main benefit.

Price for shipping into Europe is nonsense for roost.... It costs around double than in US after shipping and taxes.
Hi Sean, I can't vouch for any because I don't have a laptop that thick. I tried measuring with a book that's 2.5cm in thickness and that did not fit both. If any of these two, you may be better off with the Nexstand - it has a bit more room than the Roost V2. However, Roost also has a new version out which may be more accommodating, but you'd have to ask them if your notebook would fit since I don't have that one around.
I would say, probably not very well. Because the monitor does not have a keyboard and when you just put the monitor into the stand, it'll be very flat on the ground and not really good to look at.
For the longest time I thought the same way. However, I also think that there is a place for competition and that's positive for all of us and makes these companies innovate and the products more accessible.
So you typed that comment on the original UNIVAC computer? Or are you supporting some knock off unoriginal computer company? I wish there were more companies making this style of stand.. then we wouldn't have to pay $90 for a couple pieces of plastic.

Thank you for your input. I appreciate that 🌸.
Having seen the prices, I will be going for the Nexstand.
Thanks, Chris! Glad I discovered your channel. Have a good one!
Thanks for coming.

Bought roost. 🎉
Congratulations; Investing in your posture while working is important.
Thank you for good review, I have one question my laptop is gaming laptap and thickness almost 2.5cm. which stand fit on my one??

Any idea how well these work with a portable monitor ie a zenscreen

Have you figured out a set up with the laptop and portable monitor?
Roost is the original product and innovator. Buying a Nexstand is supporting a knock off culture and hurting the original product

The entire economy is based on knocking off products and competition
Absurdly priced product need competition
