Dear Allan Cobain - Deep in the heart of every good jazz musician, you'll find the root of that music evolution brought to jazz. And deep inside the soul of a good jazz musician, you'll find that all boundaries are broken, and all mandkind will enjoy the music, and enjoying the smile in each others eyes... Because music is the shortest distance between people, and if you come to the right jazz musicians, you'll find that your question is'nt relevant.... So I hope, and for that I pray and play!
I'm disabled. The guitarist from Tuba Skinny taught me the 12-bar blues a few years ago. That's how I learned about the band and I think they're great!
Rick Kepple Dear Rich - So nice to hear that they besides of being a fantastic band, also are some outstanding persons... They must be, because without direct connection between heart and instrument there will not be music like this...
Everything I see on you tube that they do is superb. Not enough words for description they are just amazing!!! Anyone that can stay still when they perform have passed on!
erinnert mich an die jahre in ascona schweiz bei der festa new orleans. diese band hier ist super und löst in mir tränen aus. schon deshalb weil ich auch jazz musiker bin-war. washboard und neu sax und clarinette mit 74 jahren
Tuba Skinny is a fantastic band. We know and the amount of "clicks" on youtube on many video' s is a clear indication for that statement. Maybe even more interesting: They "attract" very many YOUNG people to listen to them and above this: very many young people like to dance on their music. This is very rare nowadays in our country (The Netherlands) and maybe I can say very seldom to be seen in all of Europe. Their music - in other words - is more than MUSIC alone! TUBA SKINNY > you have resetted a dance - culture of young people. Very interesting!
+Roger Gordon - Yes and your remark just send me down the Memorylane to the "It's Tight Like That - Wipe Them Off" here in a version by Jeff Healey & The Jazz Wizards - Enjoy!https: //ua-cam.com/video/C9DhNBf9g9o/v-deo.html
gonzosax - thanks for providing me with your explanation, which I fully accept. In the light of what you say, congratulations for making this video and well done. You must have been standing right next to Al and me, and later next to Judy, as you filmed it.
Could be, there were a lot around with their smal cameras... All attracted by the excellent performance of TBS... Long live gode jazz! - and have a nice day Pops Coffee :-)
Actualy it is a mix of several songs Tuba Skinny performed at the FQF... I don't know the titles, but maybe one of the many "specialist" on YT could assist... :-)
Luigi Ioverno It is a kind of medley i have put together, taking different tunes at their appearance in New Orleans... Maybe some can identify the different tunes, and relieve the titles?
@@franlou02 gonzosax says the video is his. Digitalexa says he made it. I have no way of knowing for sure. I can say that I recognize my own work when someone copies it and it has happened to me in the past. I'll leave this to gonzosax and digitalexa to settle.
He visto todos los videos ... La chica es muy buena con la corneta y todos los demás músicos estupendos. Erika No debe cantante, estropean los todos de música.
+Izzy By your statement I'll like you to tell me, what kind of instrument the female leader of the band is playing??? - It's her in the purple t-shirt sitting between the sax/clarinet and the Trombone...
I love this band. But how come no one in the band ever smiles? Is there some sort of unusual animosity going on among them? After all the music sounds like everyone is having a good time, yet straight faces all around. BTW, just my opinion but the lady singer could improve her act by acting a little more sexy. I mean, a lot of these songs have a sexul undertone so why not show it? Low key, yes that's the order of the day. Still add a little more spice into the singers act and also if band members could force a smile everyone in a while and then the band could be tops. BTW I am a musician myself and I really enjoy playing along with the Tuba Skinny Band!
THIS IS JUST CURIOSITY ON MY PART and likely no one will agree with me, I love the tuba, don't get me wrong, but I would love to just once substitute the tuba with a bass sax, just for comparison, just have someone play all the tuba parts on the bass sax, just for comparison, I love them both, I would just like to compare them.

Hey Tuba when are you coming back to High Point NC again? I missed you summer of 2016!
Vraiment génial. J'adore !
Great music - when you see them live it's hard not to focus on that washboard player! But they're all wonderful - like stepping back in time.
+Phil Rey Yes Phil, they really take us back to the twenties... They are great!
