Yellowstone - Tour of East Upper Loop Dunraven Pass

- We have been taking RV road trips to Yellowstone every fall for the last 3 years, and during those first 2 years we explored so much of the park...except for the upper east portion of the Grand Loop Road, the Dunraven Pass which had been closed for construction.
We finally had our chance when it reopened in 2023 and I was so excited to finally see that area of the park and i was especially excited to hike one of the most recorded hikes to the top of Mount Washburn, but at last we still had a road block of sorts when it came to the hike, September and October have heavy bear activity along the Mount Washburn trail, so while the National Park website said the trail was closed, there were no signs at the trail head saying it was closed but they did do a good job of scaring the bejesus out of you. So we still didn't hike to the top of the mountain but we did get to see this area of the park and it turned out to be one of my favorite areas visually.
It took me a little over 3 1/2 hours to drive this portion of the road from Canyon Village to Tower - Roosevelt, but that included stopping at every single pullout (Ok I think I might have skipped only 3) and taking photos and video, and then walking a few feet up the two trails on Mount Washburn, the Tower Fall trail and the small Calcite springs overlook loop.
I used the Gypsy Guide/GuideAlong for information while driving through the park gypsyguide.com/

Great videos, Thanks
Years ago I came up with a new word while hiking Teton NP........Bearanoia
I will be back there this August. Getting psyched watching your videos
Yes! That’s it, I have Bearanoia! I hope you have a great trip in August.
Next time be prepared . Good video.
So glad Dunraven Pass is open as it is my favorite drive in the park and it's been 4 years since I've been able to drive it. I have seen more bears along that drive than anywhere else in the park. I'll be there next month to drive the pass and look for bears and then again in September. Looks like they did a good job on the new pavement and parking. I love camping in Yellowstone. I also enjoy the ever changing weather. Thanks for the video. BTW, I tend to yell at my GoPro too.
Wow you are going twice this season that’s so cool! The road condition on that stretch is great and now that I have had a chance to see it I think it’s my favorite drive as well, although I do love the drive going north at the Golden Gate too. I hope you have amazing trips, and I am glad to hear I’m not the only one who is yelling at their GoPro 😁
Love your videos. Thanks for such great info! I'm so excited for my family's first trip to Yellowstone June 2024! And I feel more prepared watching your channel! :)
Thank you so much, I’m glad they helped. June should be a good month for your family to see all the animals coming back out after winter, I hope you have an amazing trip.
Wow!!!
Amazing video.
Thank you!
This was an awesome video. I hope to go to that part of Yellowstone as me and my family are going to both Yellowstone and grand Teton in September.
You are going to love the parks in September, the fall colors in Grand Teton are so beautiful and there are so many animal roaming around the parks. Have a wonderful trip.
Thanks. You covered quite a few places I hadn’t seen in other videos. Going the end of this July.
Thank you. I hope you have a great trip.
What time of year was this. I would like to avoid the snow
We have been going in September for the last 3 years and this was the most snow we have seen so far, and it melted pretty fast. The weather fluctuates quite a bit, one day it can be sunny the next rain or snow. The best time to avoid snow would beJuly and August, although it has been known to snow a bit in July too. I hope that information helps you with your planning.
same here scared of bears
Yeah, I love to see them, just from the safety of my car 😁
'promosm' ☀️
I’m out, enough of the bears
Sorry but have you seen Cocaine Bear!?!? Just kidding, I actually grew up in a hunting household, which also gave me meat eating issues but thats a story for another day, anyways I have heard many frightening bear stories and I also don’t want them to seek revenge on me for my family’s past hunting 😊
