  • Canyon Lodge Room, Dining, Gift shop, Surroundings, Tips. Gas Station is near the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and Dunraven Pass. Old Faithful Lodge Video: • Old Faithful Lodge - Y... Hi Guys, I recently got back from Yellowstone National Park and wanted to show you lodging options. I’ve put up a video on the Old Faithful Lodge and surroundings, if you want to see that, the link is right below this video. In this video, I’ll show you the Canyon Lodge and surroundings.
Here’s a map of the park that you’ll get when you travel through one of the five entrances into Yellowstone. Canyon Lodge is in the middle of the park.
The Canyon Lodge has 500 rooms and cabins, the most of any lodge in Yellowstone. There are many buildings, not just one. 5 new lodges and 400 rooms were added in 2016 so it’s new compared to most of the other lodges in the Park. All 5 lodges are LEED certified.
I’m putting up this video now so you can plan your trip for next summer. The park lodges fill up very quickly so it’s best to book a year or many months in advance so you get the room you want.
After staying at the old faithful lodge cabin and log cabin in grand teton, this felt like an actual hotel since it’s modern looking. It’s easy to get to, there’s pretty much one road in the park and plenty of signs everywhere. Drive up to the Washburn Lodge for registration. There is parking in front and plenty on the side. The parking lot faces another building with rooms. Check in will take a little bit of time. That goes for check in at any lodge in the park since millions of people visit every year. The lobby is lovely with a seating area and a little cafe with quick food to go. Sandwiches, packaged muffins etc. I tried a banana nut muffin one day and it was inedible because of the amount of sugar. Maybe the sandwiches would have been a better option. There are a few tables and chairs if you want to sit and eat there.
At check in you’ll get a map of the lodge and it’s buildings and a key card instead of a physical key like the old faithful lodge. I would have preferred the physical key and I’ll tell you why later.
Drive to your building. I took this video of the parking lot, checked it later and saw this big guy. An employee told me later that his name is Carl and he hangs out here all the time. I looked for him other days but never found him. He’s literally just eating by the walkaway and not bothered by people. It’s not a good idea to go near him or pet him. If you see him, just keep walking. You’ll find these don’t pet the bison shirts everywhere. They are wild animals and could hurt you badly.
I’m at the Chittenden building. There are employees around sometimes to help with your luggage and luggage trolleys if you need one. There’s recycling which is convenient, you don’t have to lug garbage from the car to your room, just separate it right here.
The lobby has an ice machine and vending machine. You can also fill up a water bottle here. Pretty artwork in the elevator. If you have a room and you don’t find it on the second floor, go up to the third even though your room number starts with a 2. Get off the elevator and there’s a little seating area, table and chairs with some games. Ice machine and vending machine with drinks. Enter your room there are some hooks to hang up your clothes, ice bucket, plastic cups and separated trash and recycling. A clean queen bed, side table with lamp, alarm clock, an actual phone, tissue box. The lamp has outlets by the way, it fit my canon battery charger. The bathroom, toilet, toilet paper, garbage can, towels, a hook, bathmat and the shower. Bodywash, shampoo and conditioner. The sliding barn door looks lovely but was extremely heavy.
The vanity with sink is opposite the bed and very spacious. It was nice to have counter space to put all my toiletries. A good sized mirror. Extra towels, toilet paper and laundry bag. A hairdryer on the wall and outlet. Makeup wipes and bear soap. Hand soap and lotion. Tissue box. Try to conserve water as much as you can because it is a precious resource in Yellowstone’s dry climate. There are signs to make you aware of the importance of conservation. A small table with 2 chairs and a coffee machine which felt like a luxury after Old Faithful Lodge. Actually this entire room felt luxurious after Old Faithful. It really was like night and day. There’s a big sunny window looking out at the parking lot. Lots of outlets, a small fan, and a rack to put your luggage.
Don’t forget to put your key card in the slot to turn on all the lights.
I hope you got all the information you needed about the Canyon Lodge at Yellowstone National Park. If it was helpful, please like this video. Click on that bell icon so you can get notifications when I upload a new video. Subscribe and I’ll see you next time. Thanks for watching :)

Wonderful! So many who present this sort of video feel pressured to fill every moment with endless chatter and rush through. You are among a select few who resist that urge and instinctively understand the value if pausing to allow the viewer to digest the auditory information you have just given and to take in the rich visuals you're giving us at the same time. Your pacing is excellent!
In addition, the information you give us clear, concise and above all, useful and meaningful. Just the right balance between brevity and detail. And I love your photography and editing. Maybe you should consider making travel documentaries!
Thank you and I'm truly looking forward to your next video! 🦬

The best place we have eaten at in the past is the Terrace Grill in Mammoth for price and taste. But it was closed during our last trip. It's really best to stock up with food in Cody or Gardner if staying for more than a few days.

Thanks for sharing. I’ll try the grill next time as it was extremely packed during my trip. Mammoth area will be part of a long video on the entire Yellowstone trip 😀

@@bestkitchenreviews It was interesting to see the inside of the newer hotels. We tend to stay in the cabins. Although we did stay in the Mammoth hotel once. Staying in that hotel is like stepping back in time. Older light switches, tub, etc... Some hotel rooms don't have bathrooms. Sometimes animals will come around the cabin areas. One time a small bear was around the Canyon cabins at night, just down the road from the hotels. We had a fox walk up to us while we were outside a cabin at night in another area another year. The path from the shopping area to the hotels in Canyon had elk laying by it one year. Deer and another fox were outside a cabin in another area. Elk are always outside the Mammoth hotel and cabins. I can't remember if YS has pizza. We did have okay tasting pizza down in the Teton area. A worker said it varies each year depending on who is making it.
