Atreus saying "there's a gap in the fence over there" has to be a bug. I have never heard him say it over and over like this, but i am laughing so hard right now. A good proper belly laugh 😂😂
I am so glad you are going back to Valkyries, you are going to discover two other realms and it is so much fun. They are very tough fights, I am yet to defeat the last one 😂
1:07:40 Little clarification for that, this one entry on the journal is NOT written by Kratos and it's instead a transcription of what is written on the stone he read.
While that is absolutely true, I have to agree with Mojave. The way Ratatoskr is implemented is very jarring and feels very Disney esq. It just feels like a complete contrast to the rest of the writing and overall feel of the game. I’m totally not against humor in GoW, they’ve just definitely done a way better job of it in the past
@@johnbaptist7126 I personally think he's portrayed greatly here and is a nice addition to the game. I mean how else would you portray a talking animal? Unless of course you choose to exclude him. But to each their own I guess.
One thing to remember about Kratos when it comes to the story, who he is as a character, and the journal entries that seem "written wrong" is that while he is typically very stoic and of singular focus, he is very intelligent and a trained Greek soldier. Meaning he's pretty well-educated (not including his multiple lifetimes of experience) and considers his surroundings, actions, the people around him, hell *everything* very thoroughly. All that to say despite seldom voicing his thoughts, he *is* fairly thoughtful and introspective. A main theme of his development as a character is voicing his thoughts and feelings more, trusting others with them. I think having Kratos do large portions of the journaling makes sense as an extension of that personal growth with expression, and is probably much closer to his inner dialogue than you may initially expect from his outward actions.
Yea, but Ewoks are awesome and his views here are just poo-poo. I love @mojaveD and I get the woke joke we're living in but come on, I don't see how a talking squirrel feminizes anything in a game based on fantasy & mythology. In all things moderation seriously. @@soldierofchrist4ever I think Mojave interpreted Ratatoskr as a cute little thing inside an unforgiving world. Maybe that's why his mind jumped to Ewoks, which in its time, was like "we are in the middle of a war, with cool mature characters. Luke is about to face Vader! But... yeah, sure. Put some teddy bears in it." This doesn't feminize anything, nor the product, nor the story, but you can't deny that Ewoks can make a woman say "aww" up until you see those vicious little pricks fight 😂 I guess that's what Mojave is referring to. some of your misunderstandings around the journal and who's writing what are understandable, but you just flat out were not paying attention at 1:06:11. Of course Kratos is not the writer of text he just found on some magical slab. Not good to start looking for problems where they don't exist after just a few iffy moments in the game, you're damaging your own experience.
(This was written before Ragnarok. I don't think they wrote his character to appeal to a certain audience. This is his lore, loosely based from of course). Ratatoskr, the sly messenger, has lived in the World Tree since time immemorial. Where he came from or why is truly unknown, but if there’s a way for him to stir the pot between any two gods, he’ll do it. He’s a master of gossip and coy, backhanded compliments. And yet, all the Gods come to him for news. His home on the trunk of Yggdrasil conveniently places Ratatoskr at the center of all cosmic activity.
Personally from all the reactions I've seen of GoW Ragnarok, actually male players seem to enjoy Ratatoskr even more overall. And about RDR 2, it's actually one of the most popular games among female players...I love MojaveD, but sometimes I'm baffled by how he thinks of female players...
Male players wouldn't even play Ragnarok. They would play the first 3 god of war games. As for RDR2, its popular among females because Arthur is handsome. If he looked ugly and crooked women wouldn't care as much.
I didn’t think he would be so triggered with this character. The connection he made between the inclusion of this character and female players was something I didn’t expect. I’ve seen several other male reactors, and none of them felt 'offended' or triggered by it. There’s absolutely nothing in Kratos’ reaction or in what he wrote in the journal that contradicts who the character is. I love MojaveD’s playthroughs, but in this one, I felt a bit disappointed. He can dislike whatever he wants, and that’s totally his right, but it seemed like a bit of unnecessary hate.

Atreus saying "theres a gap on the fence over there" over and over again is a bug, you can fix it by reset the checkpoint, i played the latest version which is on PC but they still didnt fix it
Charge that bow up for extra damage when u play atreus Mojave, just aim in for longer before releasing. This is likely the reason your finding it hard to play with atreus. And for clarification Sindri brought back 3/4 Parts of broks soul, Brok only has one soul 😂
I think the game has accessibility features for color blindness, maybe it's worth a check on the settings menu (Options button or TouchPad and then triangle)
most of the in game history based entries are written by mimir, not kratos. They have very different styles, most of kratos are short and speak directly from his pov, mimirs are more whimsical and curious. also some entries are written by atreus
Thankfully the squirrel doesn't play a big role at all in the story and you made it past the only cutscene he is in, we can all just forget it happened 😂 the game gets back on track to kratos badass'ing the nine realms and story holds up.
I’m pretty sure all the journal entries are supposed to have been written by Mimir. At the beginning of this game, in Kratos’s home, Mimir is first seen sitting atop of parchment with a quill in his mouth
I don’t know if this will be deleted as a spoiler or not but don’t worry tyr isn’t a permant companion at all, he won’t be following you for most/ a LOT of the game and for the squirrel i think that’s the only cutscene he’s in, all his quests are side quests/optional, he isn’t that important
Okay, so a note on that journal entry about Ratatoskr, that you did not think fit Kratos’ POV; I actually think it fits perfectly. Almost everything in it is practical/factual information, about the events that transpired, which totally fits with Kratos. The only things that isn’t a straight up recollection of events is Kratos talking about Ratatoskr being “talkative” and “overly familiar”, and it even ends with Kratos saying that he will TOLERATE him so long as he proves useful, which I think is Kratos to a tee. Always thinking pragmatically. Anyways all that said I really do enjoy hearing your takes on things, and most importantly your honesty about things even when you know you’ll get roasted for it by pricks like me lol
The notes in the journal are probably writen by a designated person that doesn't really have anything to do with the writing of the story I think, i didnt even bother to continue reading them throughout my play
Journal has a lot of cool stuff. Especially all the enemy descriptions. Kratos writes his own thoughts of the enemies he faces and the people he meets, and those are really interesting. I recommend reading at least those.
Honestly while I do really like character entries, notes, and using writing as a form of external exposition, I do wish more games would make the attempt to seamlessly incorporate them into the game. It would've been cool if there was a character or multiple characters who take the notes. Detracts from the immersion otherwise.
@@tomk8350 The journal entries are written by Kratos or Mimir (or by Atreus when you play as him). Only the lore marker entries aren't written by them, those entries only show what was written on the lore marker.
I felt that same way about Ratatoskr on my first play through. I agree that Ratatoskr does initially feel like we are pandering to a specific audience. Because we don’t travel using the lake of nine with the bifrost like we did in the first, the game needed a new way of fast travel to other realms. Given that you are living on the world tree Ratatoskr fits perfectly. He does get better as the game goes on but I can understand where you are coming from.
And yes Cory Barlog, Writer and director of GOW4 does seem to be more in tune with Kratos. Eric didn’t do terrible but it’s the little details. I believe Eric was under contract to write the second game, and Cory said to Eric specific things needed to happen for the next GOW, after Ragnorok that is. I’m pretty sure Cory is writing and directing the next game.
Dudes just frustrated because he won’t take the time to figure out how to upgrade his armour and / or lower the difficulty to his level, so he’s looking for issues
I get what you're saying with the squirrel. If I remember correctly, there's only a few times that the game forces you to interact with him. The rest of the time it is up to you to interact with him or not. Try to not let it ruin your experience.
You're right it doesn't seem like Kratos wrote some journal entries, because he really didn't.. some stuff is written by Mimir and Atreus, grumpy old man :)
He wants to (we talked about it a bit while I was there on vacation), but the controls are really frustrating for him. I gave him my old laptop (which can run BG3 no problem) and if he picks it up again he'll play it on that. I don't think it'll be in the near future, but maybe sometime this year. He's never really played anything with a m/kb so he'll need to learn it, maybe next time I'm in town. It's one of my favorite games so I'll keep pushing him to play it.
I do think ratatoskr is a bit strange but his spirit entities do have some funny dialogue, also try not to miss out on the side quests because they’re really good 👍
I played the whole game on hard difficulty but with the last valkyrie I had to lower it to normal because I'd already tried like a thousand times. And even on normal I still had to try many times before winning.
Also fun fact troy baker the guy who voiced joel in the last of us voices one of the squirrels in this game it's hilarious he's such an amazing voice actor
PLEASE open all the nornir chests that you missed in god of war 4 such as the one you passed by here 3:47 in order to get max health and rage before you fight all the valkyries, it will make the tougher fights a whole lot more manageable.
Hey Mojave I heard theres a gap in the fence over there. haha. No worries i'm pretty sure it happened to me too. He just says it over and over again for some reason.
With all due respect Mojave, what happened to Tyr being wise for not choosing violence? I thought you said when you met him that you could respect that and at some point a person realises that violence is not the answer. I am curious as to why you despise Tyr so much. Jesus loves you and I will rejoice when we meet in paradise❤☦.
I really hope you get to play the old trilogy and even Ascension, especially if you want to play Valhalla DLC in Ragnarok, should def play the old games first
Heads up for next time if no one has told you, but next time you get looping dialog like that for a while you can try going to the pause menu and reloading from the last checkpoint. If that doesn't work, then closing the game and starting it again or completely turn off the console and turn it back on. That should fix the issue (usually, anyhow).
If you ever want a good laugh just look at mojaveD's excitement And animation during fight scenes 😂😂🤣 Also sick combo 19:13, the Valkyries are accelrating your skill level rapidly!
Hey Mojave, just want to say your frustration with Tyr is warranted, and is what the writers intended. It'll make sense eventually. Also, part of the reason you're having a hard time with light elves is you're missing the double blue-ring attacks, which are prompting you to shield bash. It may be hard for you to recognize them given you're colorblind. If you go into the accessibility settings you can change them to a color that is easier for you to distinguish if that is the problem
I had the same reaction to Ratatoskr, but the cutesy stuff is so far removed from the hard punching stuff in the story that I kinda put it out of my mind. Kratos is becoming softer though (a good thing). He's come a long way from his angry younger self.
Believes in Santa in the Sky and shows intolerance to a squirrel which is correct and appropriate for the lore. I loved this playthroughs but it's hard to respect someone who had such outdated and offensive views sometimes. This one was the worse I've ever seen a player do and I've seen hundreds. Hope things improve.

Atreus saying "theres a gap on the fence over there" over and over again is a bug, you can fix it by reset the checkpoint, i played the latest version which is on PC but they still didnt fix it
there's a gap in the fence over there 🤣🤣
Charge that bow up for extra damage when u play atreus Mojave, just aim in for longer before releasing.
Mojave, I’m pretty sure there’s a color blind mode option in the accessibility settings you could try
19:33 you smoke those guys then parry the valkyrie what a professional
@Urkki24 ah ok. That explains it. Haven't played the game. So I'm just going by what Mojave shows in the vids.
1:46:28 “ohh shut up” 😭 needs to be a merch
I 100% agree with you Mojave
Mojave with some terrible dated takes throughout this playthrough sheesh
Dudes just frustrated because he won’t take the time to figure out how to upgrade his armour and / or lower the difficulty to his level, so he’s looking for issues
I get what you're saying with the squirrel. If I remember correctly, there's only a few times that the game forces you to interact with him. The rest of the time it is up to you to interact with him or not. Try to not let it ruin your experience.
22:58 The raven is sitting on that statue right there 😅
You're right it doesn't seem like Kratos wrote some journal entries, because he really didn't.. some stuff is written by Mimir and Atreus, grumpy old man :)
hey mojave, do you think you'll ever go back and continue baldurs gate 3?
He wants to (we talked about it a bit while I was there on vacation), but the controls are really frustrating for him. I gave him my old laptop (which can run BG3 no problem) and if he picks it up again he'll play it on that. I don't think it'll be in the near future, but maybe sometime this year. He's never really played anything with a m/kb so he'll need to learn it, maybe next time I'm in town.
It's one of my favorite games so I'll keep pushing him to play it.
@@Adam1920 Happy to hear that, Adam!
niflheim is actually a friendly place thnat i know you will enjoy. you can also practice your combat there in a sort of training simulation.
Mojave does not like teddy bears or squirrels 😂
MojaveD, there is a gap in the fence right there 😅
I think its Atreus writing in that journal. Theres a fence in the gap over there
22:55 when he looks right at the raven 😫😂
How can you hate ewoks 😭
Also fun fact troy baker the guy who voiced joel in the last of us voices one of the squirrels in this game it's hilarious he's such an amazing voice actor
1:00:49 you'd be surprised how much the ladies like 🐎😂 not much modification needed 😅
PLEASE open all the nornir chests that you missed in god of war 4 such as the one you passed by here 3:47 in order to get max health and rage before you fight all the valkyries, it will make the tougher fights a whole lot more manageable.
Not sure but I think there's a gap in the fence over there
Hey Mojave I heard theres a gap in the fence over there.
Looked straight at the raven
I really hope you get to play the old trilogy and even Ascension, especially if you want to play Valhalla DLC in Ragnarok, should def play the old games first
Hey MojaveD, I was wondering, do you plan on playing The Last of Us: Part 2 sometime in the future?
no
@morgan3714 i guess someone didn't like the story
@@The_Killer20990 yeah mojave
After Ragnarök, we need you Mojave to Play Uncharted!
Excited to see MojaveD kick some Valkarie ass!!
MojaveD strikes again! 🎉
If you ever want a good laugh just look at mojaveD's excitement And animation during fight scenes 😂😂🤣 Also sick combo 19:13, the Valkyries are accelrating your skill level rapidly!
Great Episode!
Hope things improve.
bro you’ve been hating on every single one of his videos in the comments from months ago like do you not have anything better to do you loser? He’s having fun in his 70s entertaining 10s of thousands of us while you sit in ur room hating behind a screen u need to get a life buddy ur not getting the attention you wish for
You're right, the squirrel is terrible. They should have had an Ewok instead.
Giant teddy bear in starwars good
Small teddy bears in starwars bad
i think mojave would like telltale walking dead
22:57 there it is 😢
i really hope to see you give elden ring another try, loving this series MojaveD!
53:24 I ask myself the same question. They've actually managed to make the menu even more confusing than in the previous version.
Mojave I think you have misplaced the buttons
Otherwise If I recall, the controls in both GOW is same.
We have a new god of war now
