- 16 Tank Transporter Squadron, 7 Tk Tptr Regt, RCT, Fallingbostel in 1987 Cookhouse/ vehicle park/ REME Workshops / Drag going out back gate
I was stationed at Fallingbostle with 3RTR.Those images took me right back there
I was there up to 1978, A No 1 on a MK 2 Antar with a Sankey trailer, My Wife and I lived at 13/2 Theodore Storm Str. It was a Great Time.
I was there 88. Cleaning stuff all the time, busy doing nothing, I did love the cake wagon at 11am though, good times indeed
They shunted us around a lot back in the day.
I remember my first time loading onto the transporter and also the German trains with the loadmaster with his micrometer. And chocks and chains!!!!
I was attached here ACC tried to poison em for yrs never succeeded 1983/84 ish lovely posting with excellent comrades I recognise all these guys like it was yesterday
I was there 1946 till my discharge June 1946 . Iv a photo of myself and mates in front of a tiger tank just inside what then was the entrance gate . We only had a few huts those days !! Jim Hayler 6400775 REME of the GUARDS ARMOURED TROOP WORKSHOP .
I was thinking of transferring from 23 Pioneers to 16 Tank Transporters in 1997, spent 4 months with them in Bulford. Good lads however afterwards I changed my mind due to promotion prospects, in 2002 transferred to the Supply Controllers instead.
I was there - Lumsden Barrracks 1989 SCOTS DG.
God, this brings back memories, I was there from 84 till 87, I can still remeber loads of these guys.
Lightweight Trousers and Jersey heavy wool. Days long gone. 1987, the last easy days in BAOR...
All british lorry’s, wonderful to see built to last
The guy checking the Landrover was obviously working for the camera. Seemed to miss the important part. The P.O.L.!! Happy days.
nice to see. looks a lot like my time as a conscript soldier (Dutch army) in Germany (1980) I saw many similarities with my activities as a soldier😏
This took me back and reminded me why In 1969 I couldn’t handle being in the army, living 24./7 with no privacy, no peace, and you always get a thug and a bully amongst them, absolutely the most soul destroying time of my life.
Brilliant brings back all the memoirs of my time in BAOR
I bet the local economy would love the army back there now.
Ah good old Fally, can remember as a kid going to playschool on the other side of the pad with all the Antars parked up and the pigs under the playschool lol , also falling in the duck pond next to the cookhouse, was the antar bar under the cook house ?
This was about 2 years before I got there. I recognise a lot of the faces and locations. pity I cant put a lot of names to them.
Anders Parade?
I wonder if that’s a tribute to the Polish General Anders from WW2 and the Free Army and the subsequent Mojos who also did a lot Antar work?
Pretty sure this was one of my dads first postings as a heavy mec Reme
Same 1st posting for my dad in 86. Trying to see if I can spot him
brings back memories
