Why would King Saul have been so afraid of Goliath when he himself stood head and shoulders above all other men? So he would have been a giant himself, not to mention the fact that he was a warrior. It's hard to believe he would have been utterly terrified of another man only a few inches taller than him. Just something to think about.
Being a warrior or even being big doesn’t make one fearless, especially one who is attached to what they have to lose. We will never know if push came to shove if he indeed would have fought or if he had done so, if it would have been with Gods blessing and love of God in his heart. Doubtful though he was tall enough to feel like equal footing even size wise.
King Saul was probably in the 6' 4" range but Goliath was approximately 9' 9" ..
Just because you are tall doesn’t make you strong. I believe Goliath had super human strength kinda like Nimrod. Nimrod was supposedly a strong and large man and he was also slain. Esau had to sneak up on nimrod and slay him quickly removing his head. Otherwise Esau would have had no chance in face to face conflict.

King Og of Bashan the Bible says his bed was about 12ft long. Skeletons of giants 9 to13 ft or more have been found all over the earth including North America where there were stories of the Indian tribes joining together to kill these cannibalistic giants. And these giants and some others found had 2 rows of teeth and 6 fingered and 6 toed with reddish hair!!. Also there was military eye witnesses of a red haired giant attacking a group of soldiers in Afganistan, the 13 ft tall giant of Kandahar. Which BTW had 6 fingers and toes and double rows of teeth, and was built like Andre the giant! These are true Nephilm.
Did a bunch of digging into this years ago... we came up with a range of 9-12. Be nice to find a skeleton that doesn't go to the Smithsonian 😢
They are afraid we will know the truth about our past. They are cowards. I don't understand why they are afraid of us knowing what happened in the past unless they are hiding giant people now.

Most of the excavated Indian mounds in the midwest had 1 or more giant skeletons at the bottom which were sent to the Smithsonian in DC. David Paulides has a published book of old paper clippings on giants and there were many.

There is a valid reason why the book of Enoc is not approved to be in the Bible used by most of the world. It’s not theological nor historically reliable.

If you have a community of 'dwarfism' due to inbreeding or genetic mutations, the dwarfs might have hard feelings towards 'outsiders' who were of normal stature who were being selected for jobs or breeding over them. (We see the same feelings today due to immigration in the local population when you leave local workers out of jobs). Their women would be doing this to increase the genetic material in the community to continue to have a group of people who can do the jobs that require strength and healthy bodies...but the dwarf men might not understand.
If these tall outsider folks were 'increasing' the community food requirements, and denying unemployed dwarfs THEIR food rations there might be hate propaganda towards these peoples. This is what the Book of Enoch might have become. A book of hate towards 'tall outsiders' and the 'women who rejected them sexually'.
Today we don't need 'foreigners' to create a healthy population of peoples. But we see racism and racial appropriation for foreign races create the exact same conditions as the Book of Enoch. So its easier to understand what might have been their perspective at the time.
According to the Book of Jubilees, Chapter 29, verse 9, it is mentioned that the Rephaim were giants, and their height ranged from ten, nine, eight down to seven cubits. Considering a cubit is traditionally around 18 inches (1.5 feet), this would make the Rephaim giants approximately 10.5 to 15 feet tall. This detail aligns with the ancient traditions and texts that describe the Rephaim as beings of great stature. Just saying.
Right, Moses would not be afraid of an average height Canaanite giant. How could an average height Canaanite be so tall that the Israelites felt like grasshoppers. Anyone who tries to mess with the Bible is doomed to failure in the end. The height of the giants varied between the different Canaanite tribes and ranged from 8 ft to 15 ft and some of the Nephilim were even taller and stronger. This is the accepted numbers for the Nephilim, the giants were later beings father removed from the Fallen angel genes, so these alien peoples gradually got shorter as generations came and went. The world is full of monuments built by the Nephilim and later giants. There is no logical reason why an average height giant would not be able to lift 1.0 ton hexagon stones and place them on the walls of their temples. I am sorry, the world at large is full of examples of walls and temples built by the Nephilim and later by the giants. The average man today can lift straight up about 300 lbs and do it more than three times in a day. A few men today can lift even twice that weight, but they will not be doing it all day, which would be required to build something as big and complicated as a temple, like at Baalbek. When I was 35 years old, I could lift and carry easily an additional 200 lbs all day long. So a 7 ft Sasquatch is about 700 to 800 lbs and he can lift more than double their own weight. So a giant could do better than that easily. The Nephilim were genetically copied from the fallen angels and there are many references to the warrior angels being 8 ft tall. All we have to do is look at the Canadian wild hairy hog, which the Canadian government labs bred to live through the harsh Canadian winters and they are about twice the size of the Texas wild hog. So allot can be done with genetics. The Nephilim were experts at combining genes of different species, so it is not unreasonable for them to create even bigger giants than themselves. Some estimates say up to 35 ft tall in some cases.
Nature is very pragmatic and efficient. People anywhere about 9 feet tall would have
been unhealthy, clumsy, and not able to be good warriors at all. So I'm going with
the suggested 6 feet, 9 inches (with a disease that made Goliath pretty much a
sitting duck for David's sling). But this is all for fun . . . right?

Because as far as i have seen every big televangelist preachs the opposite of Jesus when they preach prosparity gospel an seed donations and they seem to be very successful at tricking people into semding them money to make themselves rich.

The writers of all the gospels where copying older gospels and making changes and four of those altered accounts are the ones that where selected for inclusion in the Christian bible.
Seems evident to me you can mess with the word or preach whatever you want and be very successful. There is research currently that is working a hypothesis that different arrangements in the solar system's planetary layout determining a weaker gravitational force on earth, combined with significantly more o² in the atmosphere, could not only have facilitated a much, much, larger race of human like beings, which would be exponentially stronger due to objects simultaneously weighing less, but may have been a requirement for creatures of the enormous mass of the dinosaurs to be able to locomote or ambulate at all.

Poor research. You fail to mention Amos 2:9, where god describes Ammonites as tall as cedars. That is a pretty clear definition of very tall giants. I would say at least 40 feet.
How about also those David and his warriors slain, even the brothers of Goliath, all with 6 fingers and 6 toes?

Maybe pre flood giants that were larger than post flood giants. Supposedly, some of the skeletons were 30 ft tall. I do believe that Goliath was about 9 feet tall, give or take a half a foot.

No need to adjust the height of a giant to tallest human height. They are tall, many giant mounds in north America were opened in 20th century. We have tons of news reports in New York times. Those reports contains the heights of the skeleton.

@amandodavid5061 It's known that he did not write the book himself. Much of the Old Testament was also not written by the persons the books were named after. Lots of it was on memory. Back then, they really worked hard to memorize events due to a lack of writing. It was inspired writing later on as well after the memories were passed on. I think that God helped them have flawless memory, inspired by the Holy Spirit. I have read the first book of Enoch and it parallels the Bible even through the New Testament, also in Ethiopian Church and areas where most all the writings originated it is still cannon and always has been along with Jubilees, Jasher, and a couple more I think. I really think it's legit. It just told a lot of things that people seeking personal power didn't want us to know because at one time, it was in what became our Holy Bible today. I recommend reading it, and Jubilees, idk much about Jasher yet, but im getting to it. It's obvious that the evil side of man has been trying everything to hide God for as long as we have been around. They don't try to hide the name, so to speak, but they want to make him into a myth.

It is the face of a man laying on his back, the Native Indians of North and South America have all kinds of stories passed down through their tribes of very tall Giant men living in America back before the pale faces invaded their lands. Sir the giants that died during the flood were well over 40 feet tall. They couldn't swim, they couldn't float, so they drowned in the water and were petrified into stone. Think about how much they must have weighed and how thick and heavy their bones were? If the flood could kill dinosaurs 🦕 why couldn't it kill Giants? If you can find a way to remote view from one of the satellites circling the Earth you can see for yourself that some Giants are much too big on this Earth to even try to dig up. It's a problem of "can't see the forest for the trees", sometimes you need to step way back away from something to get another view of it, and look from a birds view point to see the whole forest. I believe what we call Himalayan salt is the petrified flesh of giants dug out of mountains. I also believe that oil is not only dinosaurs but Giant remains liquefied into underground oil pockets or wells. I also believe that there's a good chance that everyone of those Stone giants could come back to life and walk upon the Earth again when the Antichrist calls them forth to fight as stone giants in the battle of Armageddon. See the whole reason that The Fallen Angels even bothered with trying to create laboratory babies of mixed species of Earthlings is to create a Army of supernatural beings strong enough to fight Michael the Archangel and his undefeated Glory Warriors! Why? Because he wanted out of this prison planet called Earth and he knew his little band of criminals couldn't beat Michael's Glory Warriors. Why? Because Lucifer had already tried to and got his butt kicked out of heaven and put in prison. Just asking because Enoch tells you in the book how he learned to write ✍️ and who taught him. I don't want to spoil the book for you so I will let you read it for yourself to find out the answers you are seeking. But please sit down and make a time line on a piece of paper after you read the book of Enoch. I am assuming you have read the Bible and already have a certain time line in your head for the dates of "before the flood", "after the flood but before Jesus", and "after Jesus Christ to modern day". Honestly a time line helps me keep it all straight in my head. Enoch was the 7th grandson born from Adam and Eve.

John Middleton was an English giant who was born in the village of Hale and is commonly known as the Childe of Hale was 9ft 3 inches which is a lot taller than 8ft 11 inches.

Moses was highly educated in Egypt. Ancient Hebrews would most likely have used the Egyptian Royal cubit + 20.6 to 20.64 inches.

They also agreed that, like the other origins tribes of the area and time claimed to have, that the Hebrew account of Exodus was a fabrication.
Something supported by archeology unless more people than you would need to form a single file line from the nile to gaza managed to not only be in Egypt but also leave and wander without trace. The biblical numbers also would have dwarfed the population in the area at the time.

6 fingers can be handy sometimes. But it's a problem when you want to buy gloves. Socks can also be a problem.

A few things, nowhere does it say that David was a 5 ft tall midget. Goliath was 10 ft. Og was 12-14 ft. The largest skeleton ever found was 60 ft, 2 of them in the 1000's AD in what would be modern day Turkey.
I heard that David wasn't particularly small at all.
Goliath removed his helmet before doing battle with David. It's unlikely that David would have put it back on before measuring him.

I think I have read that Enoch was not actually authored by him, but books were often named after the main character. Enoch is dated between 700-400 BC I believe. Sometime during the exile. It was probably orally transmitted until then, because it does seem to have originated from before that time
Since the Bible does give us the exact weights & sizes of goliaths armor & weapons, I lean towards the ~9’6” estimate.

Henry VIII appeared to have a 12 inch foot : given the bibles referred to Goliath as either 6 or 4 cubits, with a cubit given as 18 inches, Henry would likely have considered a cubit could be 12 or 18 inches, depending on the author.
Henry was an active commissioner of building activity, the Mary Rose for example, he had to have a standard measurement. Claiming his foot was 12 inches, would have been a simple solution.
David as a shepherd would likely have been no more than 5 ft : a 6ft 6 inch opponent, more than double his weight, would have been imposing.
From the story, Goliath was beaten by a combination of contempt and heavy armour : he so underestimated David, he took off his helmet, allowing a knock out blow with a stone.

We fail to mention all the measurements mentioned. Goliaths spear, armor and bed.. measurements of the tabernacle in cubits…. The Temple Mount…. Existing walls in Jerusalem…. And on and on giving a standard for the cubit and the Roman cubit. This video makes the ancient people sound dumb as a standard yet archaeological evidence clearly shows that mankind was highly organized and far from being unorganized tale tellers.

LA Marzulli has written some very interesting books on the Nephilim and several giant elongated skulls on display in Paracus, Peru. They're not only elongated but have double rows of teeth and some other distinct differences to a human skull.

Exactly. Pre Flood giants were absolutely gigantic bit I woll not speculate on how big. We have no idea ho big 3000 ells is. Post Flood giants would've still been huge, I think the largest would've been 60 ft. Why? Because in the 1000's AD, a pair of 60 fters was purported to have been discovered in what would be present day Turkey.
Canaan giants were like mountain size. Since the scouts were like grasshoppers.
And when ever someone says they did a ton of something, they mean a literal metic one. Not everything is ment to be literal especially in tbe book with talking animals in it.

For a modern day example of the heights talked about just look at some of the professional wrestlers, Andre the Giant at 7 foot 4 inches and 520lbs, Undertaker at 6 foot 10 inches and 310lbs, and Big Show at 7 foot even and 383 lbs, now think from a perspective of 5 foot 5 inch and 115lbs, drop someone their size into the mix and they would all be considered to be "Giants".
I believe the confusion on height was on purpose. All it would take if measurements were exact was twisting of the words over time and you can rewrite the bible. Think of Unicorn for example. Its referring to a 1 horn rhino not a magical horse with a horn but most of us see it as a the magical horse because they have changes the meaning of the word. "We were like grasshoppers" tells you they were big, very big.

There were two lengths of the Egyptian cubit. One was the standard cubit (18.6in) and the royal cubit (20.65in). The standard cubit was applied to anyone who was not of the nobility. Whereas the royal cubit was applied only to royalty. A king was measured in royal cubits and everyone else was measured in standard cubits. Goliath would have been measured in standard cubits or (8'11") whereas king Og would have been measured in royal cubits (13' 6"). The ancient cubit was the same measurement throughout all the ancient cultures.

Adding a little more data. Back in the times of Goliath the metal helmets worn by the Philistines had no internal suspension or padding other than a thin layer like cap of leather. Most of the padding came from the warrior's own hair, which was bundled and knotted on top of the head to provide plenty of padding for the helmet to rest on. This could have been several inches, so measuring Goliath with its helmet on would be imprecise at best (measure to within a micron, mark it with chalk, and cut it with an axe kind of accuracy)

Dude some guy in England figured out how to move 5 ton blocks using a few pebbles and sticks. Moving big stones isn't particularly hard with simple tools and mechanical advantage. So your treatise is certainly plausible.

I have to wonder if as you pointed out, there was a problem with translating a cubits actual length. There also may have been a loss of tranlating the word giant. Im sure that he was large but could the word giant also refer to his greatness in battle. I think we are still not fully sure of the meanings in the writings.

@lonecar144, There are two Hebrew words that appear nearly the same but are spelt differently. 1) נפיל/nephil (giant) and 2 נפל/nephal (fall). Try not to get these two mixed up, they mean two different things. If you refer to the plural in either case you simply add a ים/im to the end of the word. Nephil[I'm] means giants and nepal[I'm] means fallen.

There is no Saudi Arabian side of Mount Ararat. Mt. Ararat is in northeastern Turkey just south of Russia. Saudi Arabia is way south. It is east of Egypt across the Red Sea.

I would also agree that Goliath did not necessarily have to be extremely tall just to be strong. I had a friend who had a small frame, had to be about 5 ft something, and was a police officer. She was able to bench press about 300 lbs.

In the Bible it says that Goliath is a descendant of the nephilim and he was 15 ft tall. And when God was bringing the Hebrew people to Israel it says that the people were like grasshoppers to the people who were living in at land at the time
The Spirit of Goliath was a Nephilim,
whereas, his body was fully human,
being a corrupted son of one of the descendants of Ham.
Here we see God promising to Abraham, the entire "land of canaan", the land of the Giants.

In the Bible doesn't say anything about the spirit of Goliath was a nephilim. It says that Goliath is a descendant of the nephilim. And the descendants of ham didn't have anything to do with the nephilim more than half of the nephilim was destroyed by the flood. Hands descendants are the black people and Arabs and the Indians. Any of the peoples with dark complected skin is a descendant of ham

I once made the search for what a cubit once and I came with over twelve different solutions depending on the place, nation, etc. The measure could range from nowadays 38 cm and up to 64 cm. An interesting cubit however was the Royal Egyptian cubit that measured 52.3 cm, whether or not that was the one they used at some point, taken that Moses parted with his people from Egypt.
Poor research , what about the discovery of the very large skeletons found around the world.

One issue with having skeletons is the difficulty in preserving them. We all know that fossils aren't that common naturally, they tend to be found from burial in sediment. This is further complicated with the tendency for war to result in the destruction of the enemy's bodies either through dismemberment or burning, and even further from some cultures death rites including burning of the body as well. I imagine that these giants weren't very common and again when you add in all of the problems with preserving bodies it is clear that there would NOT be a great deal of preserved giants. I have always wondered i the measurement wasn't skewed because of the lack of uniformity, and it really does seem reasonable that a slightly shorter giant in the 7-8 ft range would make a lot of sense.
I remember I recently seen where the battle clothing to protect the guy was way more than I would ever consider carrying for a couple of feet. You did barely cover this.
The nephilim weren't human and could change their size because they were having the ability.
I used to go fishing with a friend who always, whenever he was asked about how big the fish was that he caught, said "about 18 inches". I doubt he ever caught anything over 6 inches but always when somebody asked about the size of the fish, the fish always got bigger whenever he told the story.
One day I was in line getting my morning coffee and overheard 2 guys in front of me talking about where they could fish without the game warden asking for a fishing licence. The 2 guys were saying that a local man recently caught a 2 foot bass that weighed about 9 pounds. I knew who the local man was and the fishing spot (there's only one) they were talking about. I didn't have the heart to tell them the bass were only about 6 inches long. Never believe a fisherman who tells you about how big his conquests are, his opinion is always biased.
