Very nice engine Todd. Usually in port count only the intake ports count. The port on the bottom is a bypass port and therefore not counted.
It corresponds to the bypass hole in the piston to let air out from underneath the piston. The angle on the ports is upwards (from the inside)to improve flow.
Thanks for sharing this engine 👍

I remember zappco the amps and EQs are so desired....I don't have a nova rossi engine yet. But I do know there are great engine I appreciate the knowledge

NICE Todd.love my old vintage Engine's.as a welder/fabricator for 30. I feel like the material used back then is better quality than nowadays.i just think the tolerances are better now than back then. A better control of expansion of different materials maybe a better terminology.thanks for sharing once Again. I'm gonna do a silicone fill myself and see what happens!! ✊ OFNA for the Win!!

I bought one of these in the past yr or so from a private seller. He had a few left, not broke mine in yet. So curious about this video!

I’d love to see the silicone fill process. Never done it myself but I’ve got a couple of Trackstar candidates.

I’ve got a Bonito that might have that same weird Novarossi-specific offset rear bearing. I could see why people might not have been thrilled about them when they came out. I like Novarossi engines, but that bearing seems like a way of pigeon-holing people to only be able to source the bearing from Novarossi. That engine pulled super hard though, so maybe they were onto something.

Todd, i love these videos. I've learned so much off your page. I'm still learning the nitro. I have a question off topic, but if you have any ideas, i appreciate it. I have an old losi lst ive been working on, and the tune is up and down. It has a new carburetor on it, and the idle with jump up then go down aft a while. Anything under a half of tank of fuel it starts acting crazy. How does a guy diagnose fuel tank vs possible carburetor leak is my question?

The HPI Savage had a half tank lean issue, haven't heard the same about the LST. One of the first things I would look at is the engine front bearing (up and down idle is an indicator) are you running the stock engine? I think pretty much all of the stock LST engines ran all metal carbs(SH engines) you said new carb, but which carb, and it may be "new" but if you haven't disassembled it and lubricated the o-rings, it may be leaking.
      Here's where I would go:
Pressure test the tank and fuel lines by closing off the line going to the engine and blowing into the line where it attached to the exhaust. Should be airtight.
Next I would rebuild the carb, fresh/lubricated o-rings, I would use a composite carb if I had one( the Trackstar (alpha)carb is cheap and great)
If I still had the issue I would rebuild the engine, making sure it still has good compression, and making sure all the engine o-rings are good/lubricated. A bad glow plug can cause similar tuning issue, too high nitro percentage, old nitro fuel can as well.
As far as the half tank thing, I have had some luck doing two things. Add a fuel filter, and run the line going from the tank to the engine so that it is above the level of the carb, if that makes sense. Don't run it down to the chassis and then up to the carb, run it from the tank to the carb keeping it high as possible preferably flowing downward at the carb(this was easy to do on the Savage)
Hope something here helps, let me know which engine/carb you are running, and I'm always glad to try to help.
