I've got two older zippos that I've had just sitting for years and now trying to get them working like they used to. I'm learning a lot from you my friend I don't want to replace the insert I like to keep everything original. My main concern is the spark I think. I'll keep watching you 😊
Thank you. I appreciate your comments. Please take a peak at the rest of my videos. I’m sure you will find others that interest you. Currently I’m shooting a Weber kettle grill video. I’m smoking a 8 1/2 pound chuck roast. That video will be posted in the next day or so. Thanks again.
Good stuff, told me what I needed to know, and added a little timestamp for those who needed a quick way to figure out what went wrong. I dropped my flint pulling it apart.
Excellent! Thanks to your detailed video I pinpointed the issue. My Zippo won't spark. Turns out it has the spacer, but it's missing the flint! Good grief. I have some coming tomorrow. Thanks again for the detailed video!
thanks a million! I have my father's lighter from 1988 and really wanted to bring it back to life. Off to shop for flint and fuel and feel much more prepared to get her lit!
@@FrankGuest Great news!! Mission accomplished :-D There's a little residual flint left in the shaft (impossible to get out) that makes it a little difficult to turn the wheel, but I can still get it to work. I lost my father earlier this year and having his lighter up and running again really means a lot. Thank you so much!
@@Christiezepeda you may have brought a slight tear to my eye. I’m glad I could help you bring a part of your father back to life. Thanks again for supporting my channel.

OmG! You’re the best! It took me watching another guys video, which didn’t help! Then I watch yours and trimming my dirty wick worked on all of my zippos👍🤪😝😝😄😉!!!

my Zippo lighter looks different. It is really old. I filled the fluid and I put in a flint. there is another hold which I don't know what it is for. i get a spark but it wont light and when I filled the fluid it kept pouring out so I think it is full can you help me?
mine stopped sparking when i pit it back together and it turns out the flint fell out onto the table 😂. you can just put the flint down the brass hole and out in the screw with the spring.
Hey Frank, I forgot to tell you that I had the EXACT SAME 🐫CAMAL🐪 lighter back in the 90’s. I had to save up a CRAP💩LOAD of CAMAL CASH then send it in to redeem it for a zippo. I got my wife the ladies version CAMAL Zippo. It was smaller and white with the CAMAL logo with flowers around I think flowers on the camels head. To bad I moved place to place so many times they both got lost.(or stolen) The only complaint is when I carried my camel Zippo in my front pocket I didn’t like the sharp edges. And it’s a little big to carry. Besides I’m old now and the only job my current Zippo really has sparking 💥 🔥blizzzunts 😂
How to switch out a flint. Just go to a smoke shop. They usually have zippo brand flints. I use those cheap clipper lighters from Europe. Sweet Zippo 🔥😎✌️ Just learned that if your having trouble lightning it later on you might need to flip the flint around and reinsert it.
HA!! Got an old Zippo I couldn't get to work for a long time and my disposable is one of those blasted crap lighters that's half water, ARGH! BUT, now my Zippo works perfectly so, thanks!!
nice mirror finish on that insert, perhaps you know how many millilitres it take to fill then? also i tried using paraffin lamp oil in mine and it was not lighting or when lit left lot of smoke i tried letting sit a day out of its case to dry it out and refilled with zippo fluid but still giving me hard time lighting and still smokes i figured there must be some left over paraffin in it that still messing it up perhaps , will the smoky stuff eventually go away after a few proper fills with zippo fluid? and what should i do let it dry out again or keep it flaming till all the stuff is gone and refill again?
i been just filling it with zippo and lighting it with a lighter letting it stay lit a long while hoping to burn through the paraffin and seems to be lighting on its own at times but still smoking ,might take a while but i don't understand why it won't light on its own without another lighter when i try it the next day as if the wick keeps drying up and needs help despite my refilling it with zippo a couple times now, my imco junior is much more reliable i prefer it for many reasons over a zippo @@FrankGuest
Bought mine brand new. Never works for longer than a day. Fill it up with a pretty generous amount definitely not flooding it though. Very frustrating. Any idea what's happening?
Are you using zippo fluid? I would pull The wick out so it is fresh cut the excess and doused it with fluid. If that does not work you may have to use the warranty that comes with it. I hope the new lighters are built with the same quality as the older ones like I have.
Have an older Barlow flip top lighter and put new flint in and inserted spring and tightened. New flint is not touching the wheel. Any ideas as to how to fix it to get the new fllnt to touch wheel?
@@FrankGuest Hi Frank, Yes it was my neighbors parents lighter. So may even be in the late 1960s. I looked on line to see if there was a different flint that it may take but does not appear to be. Drop the flint and see if something is jammed. If it’s not that, hit the wheel with WD40.
