To-the-point, and made a considerable difference. Over the years you forget how fierce the original spark is, I didn't think the spring was weak at all. Thank you!
you are one of my favorite people on planet earth. for a whole week now i have been bruising my thumb trying to light my zippo. i searched many times and was told to do things like use more zippo fluid, shorten or change my wick and replace the flint. nothing worked but now i can light with ease. i will never forget this solution, much love ❤❤❤
Kept overfilling my new Zippo because I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work consistently. Did this and it fired right up. Appreciate the research!
the bottom on the old ones has a bit of a recessed edge the new ones are flat , btw mine say xv so 15 i guess but what year would that be from if you know? my cousin gave it to me back in 2000 but i was used so i know he had it from the 90's
Ive been zippo collecting for the last few years. I have one thats a bugger always acting up rather its trouble lighting or rusting the flint wheel or going dry. I lost my good zippo so i grabbed this one to get me by until i find it. Filled it and noticed it didnt want to light good. Tried the spring trick and worked like a charm. Thanks a bunch 🙏.
Thanks! I tried this yesterday after putting in new fluid, pulling up new wicks and trimming, and new spark this a mag jigs..lol. I also rolled my wheels backwards. Apparently o didn’t stretch my springs out far enough. Just stretched both springs so they were out Almost an inch. It took some talent to get them back in BUT they both light SUPER EASY now.
I think i see what was actually causing the problem, that spring is supposed to have a metal follower attached to it that actually pushes on the flint and it looks like yours is missing. Stretching it seems to have replaced the missing tension, replacing it with a new one should also fix the problem. I can still see this helping add tension though, i will remember it.
Thank you brother, I have had the same issue with my 3 year old zippo now for almost a year and that fixed it. I was ready to trash it after replacing the flint, the cotton for the fluid, the wick, the fluid and the flint.
Great video one goofy thing I did was stretched it too much first time. Just watch how in this video it’s only stretched couple of times so the length is not increased so much pushing it back becomes impossible. So I then destreteched it a little so the length was like in the video. Now it’s working like new.
FINALLY!!!! Someone trouble shooted vs tell us how to pour fluid, thread a wick through a hole and palce a flint in a tube and watch it make a flame…..Thank you beacuae all this time it was the spring that was weak causing a weak spark and need to be stretched. Fixed it perfectly as I was about to throw it in the garbage..
i cherish the zippo my cousin gave me and i even got one for my bro in law but honestly i prefer my imco junior 6600 from austria more reliable on the first if not second flick to light easy to carry and a conversation piece with its unique look and flick open lighting
I fucking love you dude, thank you so much!! I brought today 2 zippo lighters from a guy and one of them was working normaly and the other had this problem, and tried all the methods posible and nothing worked and I started feeling so bad because i thought i got scamed until i found your video and now i feel și much better, thank you once again for your video and God bless you!

Dude you saved my life. Tried different fixes for hours and nothing worked. This really did the trick!
Thank you! It did help! Couldn't figure out for a week why it didn't spark enough! My thumb I'm using to light it up is now happy to give you a like😊
I tried this fix first and you nailed it. Lights first time every time now. Thanks.
How many vids I watched of fools beating around the bush talking about everything but the point of the vid. Too many. Your the man and this helped me.

Such a simple fix and yet it's one I'd not thought of, little stretch of the spring instant flame genius 👍🔥
I tried so many things, your solution finally fixed it thanks a lot!!
Zippos are a timeless design. Lighting a smoke with one always gives me a good feeling
Awesome fix - worked a treat! One thing I hadn't thought of - any thanks!
More friction...more spark, it makes sense to me! Thanks for the tip! Take care bro!
It was driving me crazy brother! Mystery solved 🔥🔥🔥

Zjppo has a lifetime warranty
I know you solved the mystery but did you reach out to zippo- just curious
I know, I hear the wait time is pretty long though. Heard a guy on UA-cam sent in one run over by a truck, and they fixed it! 🔥🔥🔥
This got me from not lighting, to lighting every 5 - 9 sparks but I think the flint wheel on mine must be faulty somehow
I just did this on my 98 zippo and it works great 😊 thanks
Look at you, solving mysteries. I give you a👍🏻
Thanks! It was driving me crazy 🔥🔥🔥
You are a genius sir!
This did the trick for me. Thanks!
I don't see a spacer on your spring. That might be the problem!
