Unfortunately, I have to add to the list of reviews highlighting the nonexistent customer service or support. I purchased a Cameo 4 plus 7 months ago. The machine powered off during a cut and won't power back on. Every attempt at contacting support has been unsuccessful. This is a valuable lesson when selecting a new product. Product reviews are important, but more than that are reviews about customer service. Silhouette doesn't have bad customer service. THEY HAVE NONE!
Honestly, don’t. I’ve gotten more answers off the Reddit page than anywhere else. Questions I’ve needed answered I’ve gotten better through other consumers.
Thanks for this video! I had an incredibly hard time finding Portrait 3 unboxing/setting up info & found this video by accident - did you realize the description does not indicate that it includes setting up your new machine (which would help search results)? I am new to the Portrait 3 & could not find links for Portrait 3 setup on either the website & UA-cam. Perhaps your IT folks could check it out ...
Yes you can! If you create a design in Silhouette Studio, it automatically is made with cut lines. If you bring in an external image (like a PNG or JPG), you will need to Trace the design to assign cut lines.
I wasn't aware of needing to use another printer I thought that was what the machine did I'm soooo confused now.....I bought a bunch of ink for the silhouette too.....what is the point of that I'm brand new to this machine lol Ughh
I went thru all the set up the part that you say will zinc the free download. i don't see my portrait 3 or the design that came with it. what i need to do.
Just got the portrait 3, love it! What I cant stand is buying a product that requires software that is hideous unless I pay more. That's just rude. Happy cutting!
Yep, I just wanted to cut basic triangles for paper beads, and was pissed to learn I had to buy an upgrade to do that - seems as if anything that connects to a computer could figure that out.
No purchase upgrade necessary. You can use the basic software with the Portrait 3 and Print & Cut. Using Bluetooth is optional, and that also does not require a purchased upgrade. You do need the latest release version of Silhouette Studio 4.4 to run the Portrait 3.
You can manage this in your print settings. On the package of the sticker paper which I use it is explained. Maybe you have also instructions for printing. 😊
Just bought mine last month but how come my portrait 3 is not cutting deep enough? It barely cuts the first layer of sticker paper. I even bought and try to use kraft blade still no successful cut.
"Auto-Blade" Is not Auto. and the machine is tapping the blade 5 times to get to the 5th possition and in most cases it doesn't work blades stays on 0 or goes to 1 or 2, in this case take blade out click it with pen manually to desired number. then place blade back and remove from setting that it is AUTO blade and auto cut.

Guys! I’m officially struggling to get things right! I broke my mat! Omg! Question: I need to make label stickers from photoshop. I just need to use the shape tools from SS. However, the shape tools doesn’t place inline with my label to cut. Any helpful soul to guide me on this? Really desperate. Clients are queuing for my sticker s
If you are printing from Photoshop, the cut lines in Silhouette will not line up because you need to be printing with registration marks on from Silhouette Studio. If you are printing from Silhouette Studio with registration marks, it should work. You would need to save your Photoshop document as a JPG and then open that JPG in Silhouette Studio before using the shape tools to create cut lines where you want. I hope that helps!
@@reireiz I have heard that Silhouette is easier to use than Cricut. This is one reason I use Silhouette. But some people are happy and doing great with the Cricut.
That's not a typical cutting material, so you'll need to do some trial and error with test cuts. You may want to reach out to the manufacturer for their suggestion if they say it can be used with cutting machines.
"Print & Cut" and in order to print you need to buy something else because this device does not print. So this is just "Cut." Listing "Print & Cut" in the specs for this machine is misleading because customers will naturally think it means that it can print and cut. I'll be checking out Cricut because their specs are up front instead of shady.
People should know that it is a type of cutting machine and if someone is not doing research on cutting machines before ordering one, they shouldn’t order one. I’m sure they define what the print and cut means because she said she prints out the paper, she also had a printer as well. Along with you have to print anyway for registration marks.
@@avaDesdemona exactly my point, Cricut never suggested that their cutters do anything else. I came at this from working with CNC machines. It’s like having a pick up in your analogy. Like a trailer that has the car built in. Some of them both laser etch and cut. Saying your product has Print and Cut without it having the ability to print and cut is misleading. Like naming pleather Real Genuine Leather. The capital letters don’t suddenly make it anything other than a lie. So without having some place anywhere on their site clearing up that a car is required, claiming their trailer is Load and Drive, is the same as claiming that it is a pick up.
This video is very boring and I can hardly hear. The volume of the teacher is very low. WE NEED ANOTHER VIDEO THAT WILL WANT CUSTOMERS TO BUY THIS MACHINE.

Very useful. My machine came yesterday only.
Glitter sticker paper? What else have I missed in my life?! Where can I buy that?
Yes! This white glitter sticker paper is fantastic! Buy it here. www.silhouetteamerica.com/shop/MEDIA-GLTW-ADH
Thank you for your info. I'm new to this. Now one question: Can I cut my own silhouette design with this machine? Thank you again.😀

@@KellyWayment Thank you!
I can't understand. Is it possible to print only the files in the library?
My downloaded DXF file won't print - blank page
Hello, I have a very headache. The setting when I cut is obviously accurate, but it is always offset a little after cutting(portrait 3)
Hi, my machine have same problem with yours, have you find the solution?
In order to have color i will need another printer ??? Unless i use vinyl
I wasn't aware of needing to use another printer I thought that was what the machine did I'm soooo confused now.....I bought a bunch of ink for the silhouette too.....what is the point of that I'm brand new to this machine lol Ughh
@kellywayment
Can we make insert card with it if yes then please make tutorial of it dear please❤❤❤
Does the printer have to be inkjet? Or will the registration marks still be legible using a laser printer?
so in this case if i were to be making stickers, i owuld have to set my paper/media settings to A4 instead then (5:21)??
You will need to set your media size to whatever size you are using. So if you are printing and cutting on an A4 size then yes.
I went thru all the set up the part that you say will zinc the free download. i don't see my portrait 3 or the design that came with it. what i need to do.
Is it vinyl stickers? Please help
What should I do if I suddenly don't want to cut when I am cutting and I need to stop and quit(Portrait 3)
Just got the portrait 3, love it! What I cant stand is buying a product that requires software that is hideous unless I pay more. That's just rude. Happy cutting!
I just bought mine a few days ago too! The portrait 3. How are you liking yours?
Yep, I just wanted to cut basic triangles for paper beads, and was pissed to learn I had to buy an upgrade to do that - seems as if anything that connects to a computer could figure that out.
Do you have to purchase a separate designer addition to use or use what you have and connect via Bluetooth to sSilhouette ?? Does that make sense
No purchase upgrade necessary. You can use the basic software with the Portrait 3 and Print & Cut. Using Bluetooth is optional, and that also does not require a purchased upgrade. You do need the latest release version of Silhouette Studio 4.4 to run the Portrait 3.
What is the difference between this and the portrait 2 please x
The Portrait 3 has automatic tool detection, uses the new Autoblade with one-touch reset, and can perform pop-out cutting with no mat.
When I use the print option, it prints my designs in poor quality. How do I tweak this so I get good results?
You can manage this in your print settings. On the package of the sticker paper which I use it is explained. Maybe you have also instructions for printing. 😊
Also, how come when I use Silhouette studio to print my designs, the quality is compromised and reduced. They become pixelated and blurry.
Me too!!!!!
Does anyone know if there's any way to solve this?
Just bought mine last month but how come my portrait 3 is not cutting deep enough? It barely cuts the first layer of sticker paper. I even bought and try to use kraft blade still no successful cut.
Have you tried with different blade numbers? I come from a Spanish tutorial that with a 4 or 5 value, she could cut pasteboard
I have had this machine for a year and never once did it get the registration marks right. I can only use it for vinyl and I'm highly disappointed.
The Cameo 3.
Im having the same exact problem!!!!! Was there another machine you bought that works better?

Is there a kraft blade which is compatible with the new Silhouette Portrait 3?
