I personally would not do that job if I could not drop it out the bottom. Hats off to you doing that job out the front and in somebody else's driveway.

Pulling out the front isn’t that bad… annoying most definitely.

@@Thatoneguywhowaslikewow Burns up a ton of time doing it the way he did. I have been in the same situation in the past and did what I needed to do to get it done. But I would personally pass doing a job without the right tools/equipment.
From his timeframe, looks like it took him 1 month to complete the job. Prob plenty of time waiting on parts, but that is a long time to have a job hanging over your head.
Dropping it out the bottom, 2 hours to drop it out, 3 hours to reinstall and another 3-4 hours to swap everything over when the cradle/engine assembly is out.

OMG What A Labor Of Love! My Buick Enclave is getting a new transmission tomorrow but the mechanic will have it on the lift and drop it all out from underneath without taking the front end all apart!

This is the trade off for not doing it in a shop and on a lift - but homestyle major work is what Matthew does best. This way adds probably at least 5 hours additional labor - but Matt is free from a shop lease payment and everything that goes with it. Its actually more profitable doing it like this, a shop and the other expenses are a big deal. Just can't do this under an HOA.

Just as long as you're a better mobile mechanic than Semper Fi Mechanic. That guy is a royal scam artist.
