I agree ! I'm a new viewer, and am impressed with UA's restaurant/ fast food reviews. He's honest, respectful, sweet, not rushed, informative, well spoken, and let's us know the prices of everything. He covers all the essential points of his dining experience in a short amount of time, i.e., Taste, Staff, Atmosphere, Prices. And very importantly, we get to see how staff treats patrons, which is a very big part of any dining experience. I'm a new fan ! Thank you. 😊
I was watching this video from across the country, reviewing restaurants in NYC to take my family to while on vacation next month. This place would have been at the top of the list until the staff began harassing you. You were in the middle of giving them a great review, had dressed the part, were minding your own business, and they showed their true colors. Not so sure that I’ll make a reservation now. The only reason why I’d even consider it is because of how well you spoke about their food and ambiance.
They won't miss you-- what did you think the true colors were of a $1000 a night hotel? these were good people? doing noble work? they're serving Saudi war criminals and finance robber barons, they'd sell your soul for a dollar if they could. welcome to New York.
Again a great informative video. Ur my new fave youtuber cuz u let me know all the great spots in my area..I always wanted to know about afternoon tea in the plaza..and ur food descriptions are perfection! Thank u!
Wow thanks for the kind words! I'm glad I was able to show you what The Plaza Afternoon tea is like. As always, I try to be honest so people know what to expect, instead of acting like everything is always amazing to make the video look better. Thanks for the comment and I look forward to making new videos for you all soon!
Excellent ! Thank you UA, for bringing the PLAZA Afternoon Tea to your viewers. I always wanted to go there but just never got around to it. I think it is a bit pricey, but as you said, it is The PLAZA, and a large part of it is the ambiance and the relaxed sophistication.
Great video, in spite of the rude interruption. I think that the guy who interrupted you the second time was trying to be 'nice' and fix the rude first interruption. You got the 'spirit' of the plaza hotel in your two videos.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes I was surprised at the interruption but water under the bridge at this point. Hopefully I was able to show you what The Plaza is like so you don't have to shell out like I did!
I absolutely love watching your videos. You keep it real and that’s what is best about your channel. Praying you get to 100k by end of year as you deserve it
Awesome review of their menu! Considering going for my bday…but like can we address how rude staff was at approaching you about filming?? You handled that so well!
Thank you! Yeah I was very surprised. I had gotten permission and it's their fault for losing track of that but they tried to put the blame on me. And even if I hadn't asked in advance I've never heard of any restaurant in 2022 being against people filming and promoting their business!
Interesting during my video, they did not interrupt my videoing, but I was using my cell phone as my camera battery died. What kind of camera were you using?
I love to see your enthusiasm for the beautiful high tea UA !!! You deserve being so happy - you make all of your followers happy too. Cheers and happy restaurant-discoveries ! m.
you handled that so well without even getting a feather ruffled haha! i would have been a little upset ngl. mostly because her tone was so uncalled for :/
Thanks! Yeah I don't get angry very often. This lady really got on my nerves though with her attitude and also blaming me for something they failed to properly note down.
The Plaza’s management is at fault here. If you call them first and get permission, then this should have been communicated to the restaurant’s staff by management.
Thanks for your sharing!! Lovely. Love more the way you handle unpleasant situation. 10:30 The smiling +waving man is the one I would like to come across in the hotel.
I’ve had this experience before and it was nice but Tea & Sympathy is soooo much better! Service is a little iffy but the food and tea are magnificent!
Thank you for sharing this adventure. I’ve booked the afternoon tea here when I visit at the end of the month 🤩 British scone eating etiquette, cut the scone lengthways then put a spread of jam then cream on top and enjoyed 😊
@@uaeats Haha, I see this! I’d probably choose the champagne option, but I’m a little taken aback that they confronted you about filming even when you got permission. You seem really nice and easygoing enough!
i've served high tea, so understand all of the labor and artistry that goes into something like this, hence, the price. i would've liked to see much larger scones though and much more lemon curd etc. it would be an easy solution for someone who has an actual appetite.
The queen ate scones with clotted cream and jelly, her favorite was the marmalade jelly and cream. The clotted cream is heavy cream baked at a low temp for hours, rendering the water out of the cream, that is what you are eating.
the scones should be cut in half. The clotted cream used as a base, then the jam or curd is placed on top, as they are spread on each half of the scone. Also sandwiches/savoury are eaten before scones.
Proper tea etiquette says you are to eat sandwiches first, then scones, then sweets-cakes. Just for your own information since you said you didn't know. I am from Alabama so I would eat the scone cream first like I would put butter first one a biscuit. 😊there's my reasoning at least . 😅
Wow, how rude was that Plaza lady who interrupted you! It just goes to show how uninformed and unprofessional are their staff. Do you think they would have done the same to a white blonde tourist filming her meal?
I love finger food, or something similar from Asia (Im not from the US) but the thing with finger food like this is they are good but then you forget/dont know which one is which because there are a lot of them haha. I enjoy your videos by the way and seeing you in a shirt like this with that hair style makes me think you resemble Ronnie Chieng, i hope thats not rude.
that creme puff looks like the Ube cream puff from the bakery in Chinatown, "Keki Modern Cakes". And good job not backing down when the person told you that you can't film there. You're giving them free advertisement, why would they say no to that?
You're right, there is a resemblance! And yes, my issue was less that they didn't let me film (and I would always oblige if asked not to record) but more that they had given me permission and forgotten to record it down. That was their error and they tried to act like it was on me.
Well done 👍🏻 I really appreciate this review will it’s give me lots about the plaza hotel.. everything was awesome instead stuff they are annoying 📸🎥🤳😂
*This is NOT 'high tea' but AFTERNOON TEA! 'High tea' was the last meal of the day taken by the servants of the grand houses and estates during the pre-war era. The high tea meal, essentially a supper, involved a full savory meal as can be seen in the Downton Abbey series. I guess the phrase 'high tea' sounds more upper class to uninformed modern people so they keep getting mixed up.*
Can one ask the waiters to take a picture here? The waiters at the Ritz London told me they aren’t allowed when I asked my waiter to take a picture for me
Pricy , for a rather disappointing afternoon tea , definitely not the Dorchester. And prices are lower at the Dorch or the Savoy For what its worth - silver service and endless sandwich’s and tea. And as others have observed , it’s scone , clotted cream topped with jam or curd. Taste sensation all (3) together ! However - each his own :)
I would say it's a little bit more than one person needs, but it would be hard for two people to share it unless you aren't very hungry and just want some snacks. I'm not sure if they will allow two people to share one portion though, they might require each person to order a portion
That price is OUTRAGEOUS! At that price - I would rather have an all you can eat buffet - rather than one piece of sandwich - per I am not a tea drinker - so in the end - this wouldn't be for me
I used to work at The Plaza. Sounds like the woman who admonished you was a Hostess? They were always the least tactful, and certainly the lowest service "professionals". Good to see the seasoned bartending hands, behind you. Basically, Elad Properties chopped up the classic hotel, Geoffrey Zakarian infused the Palm Court with his pretentious ego, and the current Qatari ownership lurches on.
Yes you were supposed to use the cutlery. It why it was there. I’m happy you put a shirt on, they never used to allow anyone in tee shirts, jeans or shorts.
Good for you for not being thrown off field by the rude staff member. Very professional.
I came on to say same thing. He handled that perfect
Agreed. Good job ignoring the rude employee.
9:19
The staff member wasn't rude at all but I'm glad he stood his ground and didn't end the review since he had already checked
You always handle yourself so well with rude staff. It’s impressive how you don’t let them ruin your attitude or the video.
As an Irishman who grew up with Scones. I can tell. you should always eat scones with butter jam and cream.
Your reviews are awesome, but your great attitude about everything makes these videos enjoyable to watch. Keep it up!
Thanks for the kind words!

I always put clotted cream on my scones and then layer jam on top of that. Sooo good and complementary
Thanks for the tip! I'll try that next time

Record of rudeness, the price over 100 dollars. At least there was clotted cream, without which there is no scones, without which no Afternoon Tea.
@@uaeats They did their very best to ruin the good review. Sad.
Staff is horrible
UA, I love your enthusiasm in your videos.
Enjoy your honest take on all the foods you tried. Appreciate it and keep it up!
Cool video. Afternoon tea at The Palmer House in Chicago is excellent as well. Old world charm.
We live in NY/NJ and ur videos r extremely insightful. It has some authenticity that makes me want to watch more and more. Continue to be urself
Happy new year my friend. Always love how happy and positive you are. Wish you much success

After watching this my wife wants to go … thanks man
Game of Death reference. Awesome! I should have referenced that Karem Abdul Jabar was at the top for my video. 😆
Haha yep whenever I see any tower to climb, whether a normal one or a good one, I think of that movie
Thanks for your sharing!! Lovely. Love more the way you handle unpleasant situation. 10:30 The smiling +waving man is the one I would like to come across in the hotel.
wow, ua . you are saving me money going to places like this! lol
The individual that said you couldn't record must have been a Karen : )
UA, you are supposed to cut the scone in half, put the Devonshire cream on, then the jam. Then eat!
Great review . Very comprehensive. I like that you show the price as well.
I'm glad you liked the video! Yes I think prices are a very important part of the eating experience

Loved the review and facial expressions! Thank you🥰
The correct way is to layer some clotted cream onto the scone and then place your choice of jam or curd on top of the cream
This reminds me of HOME ALONE…❤
Love this! Love afternoon tea!
It was very expensive but a neat experience!
@@uaeats Haha, I see this! I’d probably choose the champagne option, but I’m a little taken aback that they confronted you about filming even when you got permission. You seem really nice and easygoing enough!
Ok, you talked us into this! Just booked!
Hope it's a good time!
You’ll supposed to put the cream on first then either jam or lemon curd.
But overall great review. Keep up the great work
Didn't know that, thanks for letting me know! Glad you still enjoyed the vid!
I didn't know that either... thanks for the tip.
@@uaeats The late Queen Elizabeth preferred to put jam first then to top it with the cream. Afternoon tea was her favorite meal of the day.
Hello UA Eats from New Day Eats! This video was a lot of fun as well as informative. Enjoy your time in NYC!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
@@uaeats I did very much!
Definitely a splurge, but it’s good to treat yourself occasionally.
Will definitely visit The Plaza and try their Afternoon Tea. Thanks for the awesome video!
What a detailed vlog. Great work thanks. 😊
Tea time is typically black tea (my favorite Earl Grey) with cream
i've served high tea, so understand all of the labor and artistry that goes into something like this, hence, the price.
i would've liked to see much larger scones though and much more lemon curd etc.
it would be an easy solution for someone who has an actual appetite.
you are the cutest thing ever. thanks for the video 😊
Good review! Thanks 💕
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
You know, I usually put horseradish in my egg salad, but you gave me the idea to try wasabi in it next time.
Let me know how that pans out! It doesn't sound like a bad idea
Lovely! Just made a reservation for my birthday
I wish they showed you how to enjoy your scones. Its best to open them up and spread generously with the devon cream and top with the berry jam
5:23 oh wow the breakfast actually looks great hahaha. makes me want to go on a staycation and order room service
Yes it was very delicious and beautifully plated! It wasn't cheap though
I love the way you talk
I love how you didn’t edit the lady telling you, you can’t record
Keep up the good work buddy
Thanks!
The queen ate scones with clotted cream and jelly, her favorite was the marmalade jelly and cream. The clotted cream is heavy cream baked at a low temp for hours, rendering the water out of the cream, that is what you are eating.
After that video I am now really hungry lol.
It was very tasty! Although expensive...
the scones should be cut in half. The clotted cream used as a base, then the jam or curd is placed on top, as they are spread on each half of the scone. Also sandwiches/savoury are eaten before scones.
No true. They break apart. Messy.
Was super distracted by the girls at the bar glad you weren't lol
Proper tea etiquette says you are to eat sandwiches first, then scones, then sweets-cakes. Just for your own information since you said you didn't know. I am from Alabama so I would eat the scone cream first like I would put butter first one a biscuit. 😊there's my reasoning at least . 😅

Heyyy congratulations is one of My favorite places to expend a grate time for myself and My favorite in manhattan
It was a nice time! Pricey but delicate and tasty!
The background music is giving me Persona 5 vibes.

For that kind of Money it better be GOOD ...NO GREAT.... Pastrami & Salmon ?? I got
to try that ...Great Tour ..
The salmon is cured w the same spices used to cure beef pastrami. No beef in this sandwich, only salmon.

Does the tower come with refills?
Afternoon Tea at the Plaza is the Best in NY, and the Best in California is The Tea Rose Garden.
I'll try The Tea Rose Garden if I'm ever in California! Is it pricey?
“Kevin, You Spent $967 on Room Service!?” 😲
So it's four times the price of Alice's Tea Cup. The food is much more refined, of course, but the tea sounds just decent.
Food was very refined and nice. Quite pricey though. I've never been to Alice's Tea Cup before, I'll try it soon!
You are supposed to tear the scone apart into two and spread jam/ cream over it.
Love the place did you see Eloise room
Remember Afternoon Tea contains finger sandwiches and such. However, High Tea includes COOKED food, thus making the cost so much higher.
