Nice Video Ron. I wouldn’t polish the Harsh Reality. I would like to see it with a short pin layout.

Just started bowling again this season, and bought a Storm Hyroad to replace my 40 year old Brunswick Twister urethane ball. The Hyroad worked okay and my 155 average slowly started to increase, but being older and never having learned proper bowling technique, I opted to buy another new ball that was more "aggressive", so the pro shop owner suggested the Harsh Reality. I was amazed when after having the Harsh Reality for only one week, I bowled a new personal best high game of 252, but even more impressed when I bowled a new high series a few days later in another league, of 691 (230, 232, & 229). For someone like me who has low revs, and only throws at about 14 to 15 mph, it's a great ball to get just enough hook for a solid pocket shot. We will see if I can still control it, as I learn how to generate more revs, as my technique improves. I've already seen a big difference in my game after just a couple of lessons.
Edit: Update from what I wrote above. With the Harsh Reality, and buying yet another new aggressive ball, the Hammer Black Widow 3.0, my league average jumped up to 187, and now just starting a Summer league, I'm bowling at a 198 average (which might come down a little, but I'm hoping I can become a 200+ average bowler). Both my Harsh Reality and the Hammer Black Widow 3.0 have gained a lot of "Lane Shine", even though I clean them after every use. I was going to have them professionally cleaned of oil and sanded to restore their factory spec finish, but now I'm having 2nd thoughts, because as I progress with my release technique, I am able to generate more revolutions, which is forcing me to move left (right handed bowler), and on some lane conditions, also forcing me to increase my speed, to prevent crossing over the head pin (going "Brooklyn"), so I may leave the "Lane Shine", so those two balls don't become too much hook for me to handle. It seems funny to me now, that I would even be talking about hooking a bowling ball too much, after struggling to hook a bowling ball so long before my injuries and 35+ year gap away from bowling, and also the first few months after returning to bowling, before I purchased the Harsh Reality and the Hammer Black Widow 3.0. I never imagined that I could ever generate too much hook with any bowling ball 9 months ago. Now, with my improved technique of releasing the ball and staying under it, under certain lane conditions, I may need to go back to the Hyroad pearl, if my Harsh Reality and Hammer Black Widow 3.0 are hooking too much for me to control. Lastly, during a practice day within the first 10 days after getting the Black Widow 3.0 drilled, I scored a 280 game with a spare in the 2nd frame and all the rest of the frames being strikes. What excited me even more was that I started the next game with two strikes, for a total of 12 strikes in a row, so now I'm hopeful that I might manage a 300 game sometime in the near future. Not bad for a 68 year old with a bad back, after two mostly unsuccessful surgeries, and 35+ years of recovery.

I like how for you it is a mix of the colors then it separates to orange then back to mixing the colors.

Could you do a comparison between the widow 3.0 and this new harsh reality?

Great video! Could you please do a video with different base surfaces then putting polish on the balls so we can see what the final surface would be?

It's called Specto, cool system but quite rare outside of places like training centers, performance centers, or ball manufacturers.

what I really need is to see how to work with terrible short and very low volume that after 1 game the break point reduces from approx 37 ft to just past the arrows , I dont know why here in australia the alleys think 18mls or less is saving them money when oiling the lanes to sanctioned kegel patters would increase the number of games we want to play and the number of times we go would also increase. . don't understand why when oil is so cheap?. and so many good bowlers are quitting because of it. we don't want to use plastic up the middle!!!!

We would probably use TruCuT Gloss in that case

I'm curious. When you scanned it out of the box, you said it was 1000 but the specs said 2000. When I eventually ask my pro shop to take it "back to box", it will have a higher grit than it did out of the box, (I won't ever polish it)? Was the scan number an aberation one-off, or do you think the specs are always going to be in error for this ball? Thanks...

Why not take a ball like this and use Trucut Gloss to showcase that new product and how it can be used to change ball motion?

What would happen if you used the other polish that makes the ball react like urethane over top of this polish?

It seems like it needs a lot of oil or it may hook too early and lose energy by the time it hits the pins.

Generally speaking isn’t it unusual for a traction ball to be slow oil absorbing?

Didn't really look good polished. Didn't want to get up to the pocket at all. That's a good way to ruin a ball made to hook, although i know you were experimenting with it.

I don't know who your camera guy is but next time maybe show your full approach not just releasing the ball at the foul line please
