The best thing about Rob and ctd doing reviews is they’re honest. The staffer review are you need this ball best ball ever must have this in your bag. Ron keeps it real!!
Curious about decision to polish vs. sanding the cover? Initially, I saw the ball being a bit too strong downlane/over under. I wouldn't have thought breaking the surface a touch would have smoothed it out and made more controlled?
Thanks for all the education work you do. This is my third "come-back" in the last 15 years or so. I bowled tournaments and such in the 80's and 90's. Had a heart attack and emergency 5-way bypass in 2006. I was only 51. Came back in 2012 then had cancer in 2013. Had low hpm and got a pacemaker in 2016. Started another come-back in 2019. I always had strong layouts then took out the side weight. No can do these days. I have struggled matching up surface/polish/sanding stuff. If I get it right, I'm good. If not, I'm disgusted and ready to retire. The huge number of ball releases/surfaces/cores are very confusing. So, thanks for walking us thru it!
New to your show and I dig the way you describe the ball from cover to core. No one does this in any video or many videos I’ve seen. That core in the effect is that flat peace up top under pin’ would that be a flip counter to the core. I hope you will tell me because I’m ready to buy the ball. I will drill it out as 50x5x30 can you tell me if that to strong?? Do you sell that jersey you have on or others that sweet.? Thank you Ronald for all the info. Can’t wait for the next one Sir
That's a great looking ball and I even like the name of it too. Those are the kinds of colors that I look for when browsing bowling balls that I may want to buy.
Whoa!!! That baby hooks! Is this a Hammer with DOT technology? Sa-Weet. So enjoyed this review. Very helpful info once again. Thank you Ron and by the way I love my hand applied polish turned my BW 2.0 into a house shot beast.
I'm about three months into my return after ~15 years. Decided to switch to 2H release after a bad wrist sprain, which relieves the pressure on my wrist, but greatly increased my revs while slowing my ball speed a bit. Obviously most balls hook for me. Got this as a surprise purchase (Mystery ball online), and as you state, this ball HOOKS. Thanks for the tips on the polish and WOW factor...I was considering trading this ball for something that spins up slower. Subscribed to the channel today, looking forwarding to learning more as I start my first league this summer!
I just ordered mine today, it’s being drilled and will be ready on Monday. Looking forward to seeing the reaction. I own the black widow 2.0, 3.0 and the 2.0 hybrid. I also gave the hammer scorpion. Will post later how it works for me. I am a 185 bowler and looking to improve, last season was my first year back from bowling after 25 years of not touching a ball.
I AM ALSO A LEFTY ... Speed Dominate!! I like what I see and I have been looking at this ball for a short while. I strongly believe this ball is my next purchase.
This review is prefect to what I needed and am missing from my bag ! Interesting on why it does smell and where is Dustin review on this and other asymmetric balls in this range ?
Any update on the sweet looking thicker BAM pad? Gotta get my hands on one of those when they become available. Might have to get my hands on this ball too to round out a gap in my arsenal
I have found that skid flip balls are not the best on "House Shots". They can be great on sports shots when you need to create a little area. What has worked for me is putting a little surface on a skid flip ball when on a house shot. I did that with my Hy-Road because it was going to long or flipping to hard in the dry. A little surface made all the difference.
Nice video Ron! 21 to 4 is the line I play on the left side when I am shaping the ball into the pocket. It is my comfort zone, but there is very little room for error. It's funny about the scent since 1 month ago, there was a discussion on one of the bowling forums about Brunswick line bowling balls smelling like gasoline. I welcome my bowling bag smelling more like a bakery or spice market. Thanks for the content! P.S. I am sure there is a recent Delaware Classic champ on the Hammer staff would welcome all of the Brooklyns. (Sorry, I had to put that out there 😂) P.P.S. I just watched 3 other videos with this Hammer Effect and not one mentioned the citrus scent.

@@Ctdbowling Got my effect and love it. Should I add Scorpion Low Flare to round out Hammer bag with Effect and 3.0? I have most of the Motiv balls but was looking to have flexibility across brands.
Just drilled mine yesterday. Got about 10 shots in on a trashed pair with carry down. My ball was too long not hookin enough. Before I crack the surface with a sanding pad. Would you recommend using wow hm? I just bought a bottle last week 😎
I see ur wearing med strips on ur neck. Do they work? Just asking. 68, and many broken bones. Some pain. Low 200 avg right now with all new balls. Appreciate ur attention to bowling repertoire. Thank U 🙏
I think it will be good for me since I am not a power player based on what I have seen in the video. I really don’t need an asymmetrical bowling ball since I am not a power bowler. 🙂
so, I'm a low rev low speed player and I love equipment that is clean through the front of the lane, this ball certainly is clean but what I don't like about balls like this is the sharp move it makes at the end of the pattern and at first the ball was verry sharp for you and then you polished it and brought the overall surface up to 6500 and that tamed it down, before you threw it I was thinking it was just going to be even more sharp but the higher polished surface cut the hook down which makes sense but I've had balls where I polished them up and they get way to sharp and over under so I'm not really understanding that prosses completely. as a low rev low speed player, I don't have a problem getting balls to hook as a matter of fact I can get even the weak balls to make a move, the thing with weak balls is that they just don't carry very well so I opt for stronger performance equipment and what I have been doing is drilling them short pin and putting a 500-grit sanding with slip agent on top and that cuts the hook down and keeps me from getting forced to far left but the short pin drilling kind of makes the ball more of a banana shape, what I would prefer is a more straighter up the boards kind of look but with a smooth controllable move to the pocket. I'm not really Shur how to achieve that kind of ball motion. would drilling asymmetric equipment pin down work for a guy like me? If you have any recommendations as to equipment and surface prep for low rev low speed player I would appreciate your advice.
I was interested in this ball, so i watched a lot of reviews on it. I ended up being more impressed with the wow factor hm spray than the ball. My advice if you're not a speed dominant player, bowling on a house shot. You better have a step down ball bc this ball looks like a freah oil, game 1 ball and then it'll be too much ball.
So, as a newer bowler who throws 12-14lb at 13-15mph left-handed would you recommend the Hammer Effect, Purple, or Nu Blue ball? I currently use a Rhino red, black, gold. Thanks for any advice!
Hammer Epidemic was apparently 7 colors, they called it full spectrum. This was info that Jeff Ussery said and that technology was brand new at the time

What do you mean exactly by angler? Also i just got the black widow 3.0 and throw around 20mph butnwould still like a little more back end motion. Whats stronger out there?
Hammer is wrong regarding the 4 colors being a first. Back in the 1950s, the Manhattan company created a ball that was black rubber with swirls of red, orange, green, blue, and yellow. That’s 6 distinct colors. Okay, perhaps they are right since it didn’t have just 4 colors. Ha!
Didn't see him move right very much. He only threw it out board or two left and sped it up.bi saw another review out of the box that had a different shot shape .he went down lane farther snapped back in and was exploding the entire rack . It was a righty standing 25 with a break point at the 5-6nway down lane.

HM helps the ball absorb more oil, how does that in turn make the ball hook more?
It increases friction by having more oil absorption
