A One-Star Aquarium? | My St. Louis Aquarium Experience

- Sooo I did a lot of research into the St. Louis Aquarium before going. I was reading up on Google Reviews and was shocked to see what people were saying, and how many one-star reviews there were back-to-back-to-back, and so on. 😬
I ended up going on Monday morning, January 6th, 2020. It's been open for nearly two weeks now, and over 61,000 people have visited already. I wanted to experience the St. Louis Aquarium and find out if the reviews are accurate... or if they're being dramatic. Is it worth it? Does this attraction have a place in STL? That's what this video is here to discuss, and my final thoughts will shock you.

The plan was always for the aquarium to start small. If the St.Louis aquarium gets approved by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums then they will expand in 2026.
I agree with your review. The end was so abrupt. I kept expecting to round a corner to some wow room, it never happened. There was some cool stuff, just aimed more for the kids. Great video👍

I imagine they blew the budget on those sweet graphics and setting up their layout. I assume they will grow with time and get more animals. *fingers crossed*
The annual pass shenanigans frustrates me as well
The layout was confusing. There were no indicators or anything to help guide people through. Originally I thought it was a singular room... I didn't even know the train existed until they called it out, and that's the gateway to the rest of the aquarium. 😬

@@OriginalDante Me too. I wanted to go there, but the consistent mixed reviews and the high price for less than 1 hour isn't worth it for us.
I love all of the improvements St. Louis is getting, but I really wanted to go this weekend with my son but I read that the train is not even open. Since it is catered to kids I might, but lol it doesn’t sound worth the money during the covid since so much is closed as well.
Yeah, I haven't been paying much attention to how it's operating during COVID but I'm hoping they took the time where there was no foot traffic to make some improvements since I shot this video!
Took my kids to St Louis during the holidays from Texas.I left a 4 star review because I am a fan of aquarium and natural habitats.It is very fitting for the location people it is in a old train station that houses a fabulous hotel.So why would it be any bigger than it need to be.Enjoy it and next time go to a place where the focal point is just an aquarium!Get it!Dad from Texas!5 stars!
I love Union Station as a whole. The history and charm are amazing! I feel as if they could've done a better job polishing the flow of the experience. I'll give it a shot again in the future. 🙏 thanks for commenting!

Going to it in March. The reviews I'm reading here are really good. I have heard it's small and not worth $25 in other videos. I wander if there's a coupon out there somewhere. My grandkids want to Don the ropes course as well. Heard the Soda Fountain was pretty cool. Anyway probably overall a neat thing to check out.

We went on New Year's Eve. Did not buy tickets in advance because they told us we could get a military discount if we bought them in person.Drove down there, parked the car, and went inside. There was a huge line for tickets and an employee made a announcement that they were all sold out of day passes and that the huge line was for annual passes, which you had to buy if you wanted to go in that day. We said "Forget that" and left. Very disappointing...
WOW. That's absolutely insane. The way that they're operating this place seems very money-hungry... I'm sorry that happened to you.
I agree the reviews are insanely harsh. I disagree that you can make it through that quick. Took me two hours and there was stuff I know I passed by because I was hungry lol

I hate the whole pass scam that seems to be happening. Hopefully they're able to make the aquarium better in time and stop trying to force the annual pass.

Yes these aquarium sucks horrible service also St. Louis is not a great place to go to especially when it comes to people everything is so not worth it

I was super excited when the aquarium opened, but when I went I'll admit I was a bit disappointed. Partly because it wasn't that large, and you aren't able to really wander freely. You are pretty much forced to go in a single line. It was alright at first, great aesthetic. The shark canyon is so relaxing. But the forced line thing really bugs me because what if you have an emergency? Like for example someone got sick. They'd need a way to get out quickly. But it's not considered an actual emergency so they cant go through the emergency doors... you have to walk all the way through to get out. Plus you can't go back in once you've left I'm pretty sure. I could be wrong. But it's irritating to want to either get to a specific place in the aquarium first or if you need to leave that you have to wait and walk in a line. Especially for places like Sharks canyon. If a person in a wheelchair is coming down while your looking out one of the windows, there isn't enough room for them to roll down while people look. I hope it improves in the future

I know the aquarium has been limited by the size of the station itself, but hopefully it will be able to expand once it establishes itself!
