I've watched so many speed builds that I sometimes forget this isn't how fast you actually build and you really spend hours at these creations .. just started playing planet coaster on console and it's definitely harder than what it looks .. you make it look so damn easy !! Thank you for these videos and ideas

@BIG BENJI I agree, when ever I play planet zoo I always aim to be as fast as the speed build. (It never works 😂).
I agree in planet zoo I spend ages trying to use the advanced move with the rotations but I can’t!Can someone tell me how to?

I have such a hate love relationship with videos like these. i wanna build like this so bad and it just gets me so unmotivated to work on my own zoo but then also i love to look of it and i know that you pick up tricks from watching and messing around with it yourself but yeah... i cant wait to see the final result!
That's the thing about creative projects - you can't compare yourself to others. I find these videos incredibly inspirational, they give me so many ideas and tips and tricks on how to make my own builds look better. If I tried to build this right now, it would look like crap. but if I kept practicing and building things, a week from now it'd be a lot closer and better looking than it did in the beginning.
It takes practice to make things look good and understand how to design your own things without any references. Pick a reference and build, and eventually you'll get good and begin to understand how to make your own things without references.
But you don´t need to! =) take me for example, i love F1 & Racing games. I´m okay but not great. I still love watching all those esport pros to get inspiration where to get better. Will I beat world record? potentially not - i still have tons of fun =)
True i do love the inspiration and the tips i pick up from these video’s alot!
I was hoping that they'd implement a way to make underwater tunnels without the glitch for this dlc/update but I guess it hasn't been possible so far. I'm looking forward to testing out the new stuff though, and the new animals especially.
Well, one thing Frontier should make is a Marine DLC, with Dolphins, and other ocean animals you'd find in a zoo.
That would be fun, but they’ve made this game
focus on conservation and ocean animals should not be kept in captivity
This reminds me so much of the Detroit Zoo's "Artic Ring of Life". It's a few different exhibit's all together and in the seal exhibit you can go through this tube and see them swimming all around you. It's really cool that you had the same thought, makes it feel like I've been to your zoo. You did a really great job!

This time the dlc got me hard. I spent hours and hours to get nice looking waterfall steps nearby a long path - now we have the waterfall pieces.
And i spent DAYS, to get a huge, realistic looking red australien mountainside. Now we got colorable rocks.
Really, Frontier? Really?
But i love the dlc so much!!!
And i could imagine, Rudi has this thoughts aswell xD

The dome is looking really really nice - especially the wooden part, I really love that. For me the smaller part of the dome, the concrete, it's a bit too heavy in my opinion. It's a bit bulky and it's not letting in enough light. Personally I would change the material and/or get more light in, especially from the roof :)
Love the idea of the dome! The way you've designed it definitely makes it not look like 'just another dome'. Can't wait to see all the different animals going in. I'm downloading the dlc now and watching your videos for some inspiration for my own builds with the new content.

I love this idea. I feel like if you replaced the VERY top of the dome with glass pieces it would let more light in without compromising the awesome concrete design you have. This is definitely my favorite expansion so far, I am beyond ecstatic that they included caiman!! Those are my favorites and I am SO excited to see them. Love this and cannot wait to see more!

I think this is the best DLC so far. Tons of statues (truly needed), animal signs, and super useful recolourable pieces.
Then, the diving mechanic is great, hope more animals will get them soon. In terms of animals, we badly needed penguins. I also love the otters and was blown away by the seal.
The only downside of the pack, IMO, is the lack of sea lions. They should have occupied the dwarf caiman's slot as they are totally iconic to zoos.
By the way, this looks like a promising mini-series.An absolutely breathtaking building as always, Rudi!

i LOVE the new pack - it convinced me to start recording planet zoo videos on my otherwise sims-dominated youtube channel. The only criticism I have for the pack is that I want more and I would pay more to get it! I would have loved asian short-clawed otters, sealions, a variety of different penguin species, and sea turtles etc. I would have lovely to see more fish/fully aquatic mammals but I'm hoping that this will be another (hopefully larger) dlc in the future :) Also I love this build Rudi, it is incredible!

Hi Rudi, really liking your build so far! :) If you would be in to it, you could start a tundra zoo as well, as now there are more animals that can fit that area ;)
Another Dome! I still have PTSD from watching you build the tropical domes in Yosemite Valley :)
I love the idea of a double dome. The slanted roof would be a pain to deal with in reality, but it certainly looks great
Since you stated you want to 'tick all the boxes', there is a bit of a concern with water proofing. The gaps between the upper dome and the roof would allow water to flow in during a rain storm, and most of the water would flow to the lowest point of the roof. There needs to be a good system in place to deal with that water, otherwise you'll get some pretty bad leakage (not to mention the extra load on the roof).

Fantastic work as always.
Frontier have given us a lot with this new pack and it is really appreciated.
There are a few other things that if Frontier could add would be amazing.
The ones that stick out in my mind are:
- Horizontal Barriers/Double Barriers with a Roof: If we had double barriers with a roof that were width adjustable or horizontal barriers it would make underwater tunnels so much easier to make.
- Different Size Exhibits rather than just the single size, even if its just a small (fish tank size), medium (current size) and large (2 square or 4 square) this would allow us to have a bit more flexibility.
- One way paths (no explanation necessary, this would be perfect for this project)
- Vista Points (Lost count of how many times my guests decide to view animals from an area that is not designed for viewing the animals and then complain about the view)
- A file converter to convert Sandbox zoos into Franchise and vice versa (for zoos that become Franchise, this would need to be without carrying the animals that are in the zoo across though).

What i would like to see are just 2 easy things that will have huge impact!
1: customizable banners/signs/billboards where you can upload pictures too.
2: a barrier like in planet coaster to block guests from walking on a certain part of the path where you have a fountain for example.

It looks great! I have a similar idea but instead of the dome make a tower each level has its own deep water dive animal but the deep dive part would connect to the level underneath it.
I do like this building so much! I think its fine to space the content out so you don't burn through all the dlc stuff so fast
Also just wondering do the hippos dive now? I have been so busy at work this month I haven't had a good chance to play and probably won't until the holiday break
I really like the concrete part of the dome despite the lighting issues you're having.
I'm loving this pack SO much. The otters are everything I hoped they would be and more - the devs NAILED the animations, even down to their stupid chewing!

Rudi, do you think you could do a video where you walk us through how to build something such as a dome or other structure at a normal speed please? Like for example, at the very beginning with the pillar in the middle and rotating it to get the walls in a circle. I really want to expand my building abilities!

I know this has been up for like a week but I only just got around to watching it (thanks Uni). I like what I've seen of the pack so far but I do think that there's a bit of a missed opportunity here because they could have repurposed those reptile/amphibian exhibits into Aquariums for smaller fish. Maybe with a facility/building where you can grow coral (like the Georgia Aquarium does) to put in those aquariums or trrade to other Zoos to help with conservation efforts. I think that could have been cool. On the other hand I sorta would love to see a full on Aquarium dlc (not just a pack) where we get a big variety of different marine animals and also (maybe; it's very wishful thinking) some like preshaped/premade tanks that we can fill and decorate (I'm thinking like that huge "open ocean" exhibit from Finding Dory). I'd love to have some "medium sized" terrariums and aquariums that you can decorate by hand so you can build "real" reptile houses and aquariums. Maybe some modular system where you can place different sized tanks/terrariums to make reptile walls and so on. Where different sized tanks can house different sized species. I'm obviously just dreaming but I've always loved aquariums and recently started to like and be interested in reptiles (especially snakes). I'd love to play with the options that would open up. I also think that it could be very educational and could be a cool opportunity for frontier to collab with some of the bigger aquariums out there that make big conservation efforts and participate in research.
Like I said: I'm just dreaming but I'd love to see it. As always, I'm just super impressed by your work and especially your dedication to seeing your projects through to the end. The way you handle what must often be immense frustration is a huge inspiration to me. There's always a way to make it work, even if it's not how you originally envisioned it and even if it's not perfect. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and happy holidays.

maybe you schould make the bridge over the penguin outdoor habitat more wooden(bright wood) or like no-patter-path so it fits better to the dome design.
I like the lighting but maybe you could place some hidden lighting and also a main floodlight heading to the ceiling for the night.

The dome alone is not that realistic and i think it would look better. Also the size of the building doesn't have to be so huge. You could maybe just have some terrariums and staff buildings in it.

Wow, looks great so far! As for the DLC, im dying to get sharks, large fish, and other aquarium animals like sea horses! My local zoo has many sharks and I Love them!!
Super awesome build!! Always been an aquatic animal/herp kind of guy when it comes to animals (aquariums always end up being my favorite!)
Are you going to be leaving yourself the ability to add the polar bear, gharial and other potentially diving animals in this build, or is it just these five animals and that’ll be the final design?
Also if any devs are reading this comment, is the reason we didn’t get any more base animals diving because the process of animating them takes a long time or because they each have their own pathing needs? Just curious!
I planned the Polar Bear, but the problem is, the design now doesn´t really offer more space. I would need to change quite a lot to achieve this!

I would love more animals in a DLC. They did an amazing job on this new pack, I love the penguins and have spent an hour just watching them. But still this pack seemed too empty because of the lack of animals

You could use more water plants from S.America pack, it will be more colorful that way. :)
im kind of disappointed that we only got otters, seals, penguins, the caiman and the turtle because there was so much more potential for more animals in this pack. but i get that they cant really give us everything we want and the diving thing is new anyways. also i love how this build is coming along!

I love this new DLC! I think a the next DLC should be like a extension animal DLC, 1 animal from each DLC that never made the game so the runners up if you will.

I love this DLC I enjoy watching Pingu the Penguin swim and dive they r soooo cute 🥰
I hope they will create something that the guests can swim with the animals. Or not really swim but can interact with them like being on a little boat in the habitat. Also I would love to see some educative shows. Not showing trics because of entertainment but showing trics that they can use when the animals are hurt and they can handle faster. I hope they will see my comment! ☺️

I’m mostly disappointed that water placement wasn’t made any less infuriating. I hate that water placement is still only affected by fences and terrain, so you can’t make fully custom tank windows and still can’t make true water tunnels.
However the pack is amazing, the animal choices were perfect for a four animal limit, and the recolorable rocks alone would have had my money LOL
yeah, but i am hopefull we "sea" some changes in the future to tunnels etc. I think this was only the beginning!

I'd love if they would do Aquatic Pack 2 with sea lions (with torpedo style swimming) and african penguins. After visiting Wroclaw Zoo, I'm in love with sea lions swimming. Would prefer them much more than seals.

@@RudiRennkamel Instead of doing a very artificial show that is bad for the animals you could make it a bit more natural and make all of the seats disguised as rock? I will send you a photo of what I mean.
El Dlc es genial, pero me hubiese gustado ver animales acuáticos, como delfines o Orcas...
Okay but how about instead of the terraria (forgot the word but the blocks with spiders, snakes etc.) But then filled with tiny tropical fish, crabs etc. I'd love decorate my aquarium walls with thkse
