1 pickup and 2 controls what more do you need? 🤷♂️ Buy it from Sky Music (AU) alnk.to/bP7hUH6 Buy it from Thomann (Europe) bit.ly/2G8LORs - Affiliate Links
I got the ebony also and it’s a good value for certain. Grab one used on the cheap! $649 all day long! Well not cheap but a quality instrument for the price.
Those things are straight ahead guitars, man. I've picked up a few of them and liked each one I've played. No flash, no flare, nuthin' fancy, just a mean sounding blues and rock machine!
You forgot to do neck and middle postion 😂🤣😆. Loved your sense of humour shane. "BRIDGE PICKUP" that was gold. It sounds awesome! Definitely a blues machine bargain. Great review.
WOW! Incredibly playing Shane! I purchased the Lefty Gibson LesPauljunior 2018 limited run and man Gibson really nailed it spot on,the Lone P90 is Raw & Dirty but flamboyant in Grit & Tone to the Bone.great review on ‘tis 2019LesPauljunior dbl cutaway I’m leaning on getting ‘tis particular guitar asap👍🏼cheers!
The real SECRET to these guitars is playing WITH the vol and tone, you'd be surprised how MANY variations you can get from 1 P90 guitar! Sounds great Shane! \m/
I got one of these for myself for Christmas and I absolutely love it!! The tone, the feel and getting that P90 sound for £700! Ridiculous value for a Gibson
I'm waiting to build some skill to reward myself with a p90 equipped guitar. (Currently acquiring guitars faster than skills.) But holy poop did that sound sweet!
I went in to buy one of these or a LP BFG but left with an Esp Ltd ec-1000 for $499 with hard case. I just thought the Ltd overall looked and felt better with definitely much better quality hardware. Tone lock bridge and tail piece with locking tuners and Duncan’s. My friend has an older version Jr. though and swears by it. Excellent video as always! Thanks
This Gutiar taught me how to use a tone control. I never used to touch the tone control on my Strat or Les Paul until I got this Les Paul Junior. There's so much more that you can do with a tone control than you realise.
Honestly I’ve been a guitar collector and player for over 30 years this simple rock n roll machine is one of the best playing feeling sounding guitars I’ve had in my collection and I’ve had a few this is the proper Gibson simple and effective I love it!!
Real nice video!! Lot's of good info. I've got this model in the hard to find Epiphone version from 1997. I think I need to add this Gibby to keep the Epi company!!
That guitar seems, IMHO, to fit your style better than any other guitar I've heard you play on this channel! Honestly, I hardly ever get a chance to watch the video of the show but I always play the audio, the sound of that guitar made me go back and replay the video to see what guitar had that voice and clarity, this guitar suits you, you should go back and pick one up!
That is good to know . I'm pleased Gibson are getting their act together now . This is something they were historically always good at , making "student" models out of good wood and with care , just not the fancy appointments of the "professional" guitars. Enjoy ! 👍
These LP juniors FREAKIN ROCK!!!...i would love to see a trend in guitars going towards simple, stripped down rock machines....aren't we done with all that coil split, push pull coil tap nonsense?!?!....great tone and great playing Mr. Shane!!!!
This the reason why people say “this is the last guitar I will buy “ then a few months later a new one pops up!!😆😆😆 With Gibson and other brands showing southpaws love, you can’t help yourself but buy as soon as you can!!! Great tones Shane, you made that P90 sing!!! Cheers!!🎸🎸🎸🤙🏾🤘🏽
I was able to play a 1957 LP Jr. That thing was amazing. I don't know what tone pot they used but it pretty much had the same sweep as a way pedal. I want that guitar.
Nice playing Shane. I like the look of these over the single cut ones, but prefer the way the single cut juniors rest on you when playing sitting down, and feel when playing standing up.
Shane that is some killer tones on that thing. One pup you made that thing sing. Never cared much for gibsons but especially the juniors etc. But this video has possibly got me looking closer into them. Hahah. Nice work. As always.
That sounds Awesome Shane. I been wanting to try this guitar out for a while now since its release. I will give it a try on my next Guitar Center visit🎸🎶
Guitar sounds great it really does... but I just don't get it. Why not add a neck pickup? Does a switch and a pickup really add that much more complexity? Guess I need to play one to figure it out. I've never really looked at them for the lack of pickups. Nice Demo Shane!
After watching this review I stumbled across a video comparing modern single pickup guitars to a 57 LP Junior, and they really wax eloquently about how much you can get out of one P90 pickup using volume, tone and your fingers. If you're interested, it was on @Guitarist UA-cam channel and it's called "Single-pickup guitar review round-up."
I played one awhile back and I knew I had to have one, so a couple weeks ago I bought it. I can't put it down, I really like it a lot . It's got a personality of its own. It's got snarl and swagger and I don't get that from my other les Paul's. Yep I'm happy with it. 🎸🤓🎸
Great tone and playing. Love P90s, so versatile. My LP 50s Tribute P90 is my go to guitar after years of owning expensive Humbucker LP's and never being satisfied with the tone. Nice vid👍
Great review, got mine recently and absolutely loving it! Just one remark: Shouldn't it come with a lightning wrap-around bridge? Seems like the guitar you reviewed has a different bridge.
Danger Will Robinson - Power Riff's coming straight at us , danger ! Man Lol sounds incredible , is there an advantage to having the one P90 vs the other model DC with 2 P90's ? Also I need to know if its a light rig, I cant do heavy I have 3 dam new guitars just laying here to attest to that.
Those are clear out of the older model. They called it 2019, but they were made in 2018 as sort of a test run. There are 4 slight differences I noticed between my early 2019 and the current 2019-2020 model. The jack is in a different place, the cases are different and the current models have a picture of the guitar being setup on the bench in the factory and a certificate of authenticity (neither of which the limited run had). The soft case for the current version is a lot nicer than the older ones, but it isn't $300USD nicer. Cheers!
The 2019 production year model which will be engraved on the back of the headstock like this one in the worn cherry finish has more of this burgundy color came with the input jack installed on the front* so you can sit on the couch and play it without crimping the cord. The 2020s are a brighter red with the jack installed on.the underside of the body of the guitar -where you gotta stand or sit in a chair with it to avoid crimping the guitar cord. Why anyone wouldnt buy it in red is beyond me- with the Doublecut shape and white kluson tuners in the red color has the iconic Gibson look. There was no brown or blue or black option when this bodystyle was created
Great guitars, picked up a Blue Fade on sale at Richtone I think 499 GBP... I changed the Cap and put it to 50's wiring but tbh that was more out of habit , it sound great out the box and the neck is a lovely thing. Spider cases do a case to fit the body contour but you still need a couple of layers of bubble wrap under the body to keep the neck flat in the case...Lots of fun for not many pennies and to hell with the it ain't original spec snobs, just play it and smile.
It was a good design the way the input cord jack was installed on the front of these guitars, that we you can sit on the couch and play the guitar plugged in with out pressing and crimping the guitar cable into the cushion, this one you have looks a lot like the one I got; its more of a burgundy color than the brighter red 'worn cherry color- the noticable brighter red color variance in youtube videos changed over after the input jacks were moved by Gibson to the undersides of the guitar. This might be because this is their 2019 model, there was also 2020 production year, these have suddenly become discontinued
Guitar ocd I sure hope it stays this price. A couple years ago you could get those faded models for like $700 but they’ve all like doubled in price since then.
Great review! I think Gibson have woken up with the new boss man. This instrument is so good and good value for money also . I like the sound and would no doubt enjoy playing it but I hate the look of it . That scratch plate reminds me of my old '78 Marauder ...there is definitely a Norlin era aesthetic going on , hopefully with better build quality 😊👍
I want this, but why does no one in Australia have the special tribute dc- the two pickup version, also the output jack has now been upgraded to a side jack, is it another case of Australia getting stuck with the dregs?
The neck tenon extends under the pickguard, so routing for a neck pickup isn't really feasible but you could probably do a single coil in the middle position.
I have put one of these in my cart so many times but I want to try one out first. I'm going to Chicago May 25th and I hope Chicago Music Exchange still has a lefty in stock when I get there.
How many did CME have when you went? Did you get one? I tried the 5 my local music store had in stock and walked out with the best one, imho. I wanted worn cherry before I went in, fell in love with the blue/purple finish while I was there, but left with the natural mahogany finish. I was surprised the ebony was my least favourite in person.
Played one of these today and was pleasantly surprised how good it was to play. The build quality was pretty average compared to the Schecter I also demo'd - but the Schecter was also five times the price. If I was smart I'd buy the Gibson - but I'm probably going to get the Schecter and beg the wife for forgiveness.

As long as one of them goes to 11, I'm all in.
Agree .. I wanted to buy an old original melody maker but this sounds sick !!!
I TRIED to tell THAT to my boss a while back when he commented no1 would WANT a Jr. as it only has 1 pick up! LMAO!
absolutely nothing else is needed!! sounds amazing, I watch for your awesome playing, no matter what you play it sounds incredible
It's even better in person!
Like most people when this was released, I was not a fan of the new pickguard but over time it has really grown on me.
I bought one of these (in ebony) about a week ago and I CAN NOT stop playing it. It feels so raw and simple.
Richard Bailey is it really worth it? looks like bad value...but it sounds fantastic.
I got the ebony also and it’s a good value for certain. Grab one used on the cheap! $649 all day long! Well not cheap but a quality instrument for the price.
I got mine new for $460 with the case, presidents day sale.
Those things are straight ahead guitars, man. I've picked up a few of them and liked each one I've played. No flash, no flare, nuthin' fancy, just a mean sounding blues and rock machine!
Some of your best playing and best tone yet man! 👍👍
You forgot to do neck and middle postion 😂🤣😆. Loved your sense of humour shane. "BRIDGE PICKUP" that was gold. It sounds awesome! Definitely a blues machine bargain. Great review.
Just received one of these in a trade, and I couldn't be happier! I love the clear, crisp growl of that P90.
Same here I picked one up for $600 CND and it's really a great guitar!!!
That’s a great guitar!! How you ever took it back to the shop is beyond belief! Get it back right now!
😆It wasn't easy!
In have two Gibson LPs with all the bells and whistles, but I'm becoming more and more interested the simplicity of these p90 juniors.
I love single pup guitars ! I have 3 and they are all rockers ! Great demo Shane ! Cheers !
I have one in the same color and I love it. Best "budget" Gibson I've ever played.
I watched your video and went out and bought one of these. Awesome!
Shane I always loved the juniors. They have balls of tone. And remember they were introduced as beginner guitars. Cheers.
Great demo. Juniors are my favorite Les Paul Model.😁👍
Your chops keep getting better and better. :-)
Thanks JohnnyG!
The real SECRET to these guitars is playing WITH the vol and tone, you'd be surprised how MANY variations you can get from 1 P90 guitar!
Sounds great Shane! \m/
The stock pots in my 2019 LPJ sucked. I swapped them out for an Emerson prewired kit.
Best rock tone I hear from the videos you've ever made I'm pretty sure.
I love my 2015 LP special DC. It has two p90s, nitro and bound fretboard for 555 EUR new with case. My favorite guitar.
Shane's look of contentment says it all! A good example of Gibson keeping it simple and getting the job done!
I got one of these for myself for Christmas and I absolutely love it!! The tone, the feel and getting that P90 sound for £700! Ridiculous value for a Gibson
Bridge pickup was my 2nd fav!
hahaha
intheblues I’m not good at math :P
I'm waiting to build some skill to reward myself with a p90 equipped guitar. (Currently acquiring guitars faster than skills.) But holy poop did that sound sweet!
I wish i had the same problem. I am getting no new gear and no new skills!
Hi I'm Chris from France. I have got a 2009 junior single cut and it's a great guitar !!!
Now that’s an actual review. Great job
Love your reviews Shane!
This is what I've been waiting for, a re-release of the old Jr for a reasonable price.
Thanks

Best tone I've heard on your channel in my opinion brother.. that thing suits you. Your playing is def improving! Keep up the killer content.
Love that bridge pickup
These are some of the best tones I’ve heard from you. In my opinion of coarse. But dang Shane that guitar has got your number.
Honestly I’ve been a guitar collector and player for over 30 years this simple rock n roll machine is one of the best playing feeling sounding guitars I’ve had in my collection and I’ve had a few this is the proper Gibson simple and effective I love it!!
Classic simplicity - Love it! Do feel the price is a big heavy from Gibson but hey, I'm a cheap bastard! Nice playing Shane!!!!!
Real nice video!! Lot's of good info. I've got this model in the hard to find Epiphone version from 1997. I think I need to add this Gibby to keep the Epi company!!
1:56 that was awesome !!!

I own one. I must say that Gibson quality on their low price guitars is really good now.
That is good to know . I'm pleased Gibson are getting their act together now . This is something they were historically always good at , making "student" models out of good wood and with care , just not the fancy appointments of the "professional" guitars. Enjoy ! 👍
I agree! I recently got a p-90 Les Paul special and it sure is nicely built
These LP juniors FREAKIN ROCK!!!...i would love to see a trend in guitars going towards simple, stripped down rock machines....aren't we done with all that coil split, push pull coil tap nonsense?!?!....great tone and great playing Mr. Shane!!!!
is Sky music going to be getting the 'new' 2019 with the side mounted input jack?
I hope you kept this guitar. If not, go back and get it. It's one of the best sounding guitars I've heard in quite some time.....
You definitely need to add that to your collection, Shane. That sounds great.
Oh Shane! GAS is contagious. I will have to try out a LP junior soon ;-)
This one's a real killer, just love it! The best rock'n'roll sound I've probably heard from you yet. Rock on, Shane!
Rock 'n Roll machine! Looks awesome! Love the colour too. I think you should just "forget to take it back to the shop" ;)

Saw sky music just advertised this beast, nice work!!

🎸🤓🎸
I have a PRS SE One Korina and I love it. Even without the tone control, I can get amazing tones from it.
Shane, mate - this thing sounds massive! That intro makes me want to go back to school 😬😉👌👍🤘🏻. This one's a keeper, pal. Just sayin'.
Hoping to see affordable juniors of other classic shapes. Firebird junior would be sick.
Inspiring
You just keep getting better man
Killer opening riff!!! Great demo.
Great tone and playing. Love P90s, so versatile. My LP 50s Tribute P90 is my go to guitar after years of owning expensive Humbucker LP's and never being satisfied with the tone. Nice vid👍
Rock machine. Luv when you play the rock pieces.
Great review, got mine recently and absolutely loving it! Just one remark: Shouldn't it come with a lightning wrap-around bridge? Seems like the guitar you reviewed has a different bridge.
I can clearly see the lightening bolt on the bridge of his guitar. Cheers.
'Feels great in the hand', that's what HE said! ;oP
Have one in blue, might buy another-they are fantastic
Not big fan of red but great guitar... Shane which noise gate do you prefer and why?
Shane.... junior is a keeper!! and the tone rolled all the way off, wasn't so unusable. Bob in Germany
Great playing in the intro Shane. Is it me or is the Band-Aid on the finger fitting for this guitar?
These are awesome guitars! $599 right now at GC I believe.

I want one! Great review Shane.
Great guitar for southern rock with the p-90
If only I didn’t despise that pickguard. Fortunately I have a ‘50’s Junior already.
Lucky duck!
Killer Axe, great demo
Great playing, lovely tone. The Jnr suits you mate 🍺
Cant wait till this model with an added neck PU is realesed. Saw it in Namm19 videos!
It's called a LP Special
great vid. love the J.J.Cale poster!
On sale right now for $550 for single p/u and $600 for two p/u at GC.
You should buy that guitar, your playing is amazing! It would look great next to your Flying V!
Great guitars, picked up a Blue Fade on sale at Richtone I think 499 GBP... Absolutely love this thing. It’ll probably be the first US guitar I’ll ever buy.
Better hurry up and get one 800 bucks is a good price. I procrastinate all the time and miss all the deals.
Guitar ocd I sure hope it stays this price. A couple years ago you could get those faded models for like $700 but they’ve all like doubled in price since then.
They seem to always offer something for under $1,000. For how much longer I don't know.
Great review! I think Gibson have woken up with the new boss man. This instrument is so good and good value for money also . I really like that guitar, that one P90 just screams
Would you happen to have any information on when Gibson will come out with left handed versions for their new range?
Absolutely sick A. F.
I want this, but why does no one in Australia have the special tribute dc- the two pickup version, also the output jack has now been upgraded to a side jack, is it another case of Australia getting stuck with the dregs?
Great opening solo!
Jr’s are the best. Who needs a freakin’ neck pup?! I built one and it’s just a ton of fun.
Does anyone know if it's routed for a neck pickup - Or is that solid wood under the pickguard?
The neck tenon extends under the pickguard, so routing for a neck pickup isn't really feasible but you could probably do a single coil in the middle position.
Any lefty's change the bridge to a compensated version?
Yeahhh another Gibson !
U Rock Shane
I have put one of these in my cart so many times but I want to try one out first. I'm going to Chicago May 25th and I hope Chicago Music Exchange still has a lefty in stock when I get there.
How many did CME have when you went? Did you get one? I tried the 5 my local music store had in stock and walked out with the best one, imho. I wanted worn cherry before I went in, fell in love with the blue/purple finish while I was there, but left with the natural mahogany finish. I was surprised the ebony was my least favourite in person.
Sweet LP. I love the sound of P90's when they get angry.
9s this one of the best sounding for the price ?
Any chinese copy of this? Any alternative? Harley Benton? I really love the look of it but I would love to have it as a mod platform
Best tone ever!
I love mine
J'en veux une!!
A ces merveilleuses Gibson..
Great playing on it!
