    If you don't like spending money on stuff you can DIY the slip boober stops by tying a uni knot using a foot-long piece of dacron or heavier braid on your main line, then sliding on a bead and your float. You can reliably join your mono and braid with a double uni as well but I do it your way with a small swivel and a couple of palomars. The uni and the Palomar knots definitely got you covered.

    you brought up some good points , one tip for you is to maybe add another bead between your swivel and bobber to act as impact protection for both bobber bottom and knot on swivel

      Try a loop knot at the jeg

    You can also use a neoprene sinker stopper and a large free flowing bead to stop the bobber. And I find those neoprene sinker stoppers go through the eyelets lot better even if the eyelets are small.

    With my slip bobber setups I personally don't like using weighted bobbers. I use unweighted bobbers and for weight I just use a egg sinker weight and instead of using a jig I use a baitholder hook.

  • @comingtofull-ageinchrist6736

    I’ve noticed I do better with a small #6 hook and a 6# fluorocarbon leader when it comes to bass! As soon as I changed to braided, all I caught was perch! Took me a minute to realize what I was catching changed when I went from fluorocarbon to braid on the leader.
    I did up to a 10# instead of a 6 lb because I had one break the line by the hook. That may have been because the first catch damaged the line also! Maybe I should have just changed the leader out each time as an option as well!

    Why you didn’t put a bead close to your swivel?

    Will the slip knot unspool properly when spooled on to braid? How do you correct the issue if it ends up digging in and not casting as far?

    • @fishingmn4517
      @fishingmn4517  3 роки тому +1

      I havent had any issues with the slipknot on braid unspooling. 2 of the big things to keep in mind to prevent issues with slipknots is make sure your rod has big eyelets and that you leave enough ends on the slipknot to tighten later.
      I haven't had many issues with the knot digging into the spool and preventing a far cast. It'll catch sometimes on other things ( eyelets, part of the spool, etc), but keeping the slipknot tight can help as it'll be smaller in diameter.

    I'm an old guy just learning to fish. I've heard that the bobber slip knot doesn't work well on braid. Could I just use an Alberto knot to attach a long mono leader to my braid and attach the slip knot bead and bobber to the mono leader? The Alberto knot will pass thru most rod guides and the slip knot bobber stop works better on the mono.

      Use a 10-12 ft mono or Fluorocarbon tied uni to uni to your braided main line then you don’t have to worry tying your stppper to your braided line

    Hi man , love the content , doesn’t the slip bobber get caught on the metal swivel though?

    • @fishingmn4517
      @fishingmn4517  4 роки тому +1

      thanks for the comment! i have not had any problems with it getting caught on the swivel. I have not used any other bobbers besides the wobble bobber so its possible a different brand may have troubles.

      @@fishingmn4517 thanks for the reply brother , so what you’re saying is that the bobber will slip thru the swivel, is that correct?

    • @fishingmn4517
      @fishingmn4517  4 роки тому +2

      @@anthonylopez888 the bobber will actually not go below the swivel. so depending on how much of a leader you make below the swivel, this will determine the minimum depth you can have with the slip bobber. I mostly have a 3-4 foot leader of mono for my slip bobber, so i wont be able to set a depth shorter than that. usually if im fishing shallower, ill use a bobber i can just attach to the line. hopefully this makes sense.

    Aren’t you destroying your rod eyelets when casting with that swivel between your line and leader. Just use an FG knot

    • @fishingmn4517
      @fishingmn4517  10 місяців тому +2

      not at all. The swivel is below the bobber, and doesn't go through the bobber. A FG knot or a double uni knot would work just as well.
