Dollywood is in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, which is in the Smoky Mountains. Dolly Parton is from there and half of the staff were related to her. My sister used to live in Sevierville (right next to Pigeon Forge) and took us there numerous times when we visited from Florida. It's like a giant county fair with roller coasters. And yes, Dolly donates books to every child in Sevier County and has for many many years.

Dolly's Imagination Library program has spread to nearly every state in the US and several overseas countries and has literally given away 100's of millions ot books to children, a book per month until they turn 5 years old. Her father could not read and she wanted to help others to learn to read.

Dolly has given the actual recipe for the Cinnamon Bread at Dollywood
    Dough:
    ½ cup warm water
    ¾ teaspoon active dry yeast
1 tablespoon plus a pinch white sugar, divided
    1 ½ cups bread flour
    ½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled
    Cooking spray
    ***
    Topping:
    ¼ cup white sugar
¼ cup packed light brown sugar
    1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
    6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
    2 tablespoons light corn syrup
    ***
    Glaze:
    1 ¼ cups confectioners' sugar
    2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
    3 to 5 tablespoons milk
    Pinch salt
    ***
    Step 1
Combine warm water, yeast and a pinch of white sugar in a small bowl and whisk. Allow the mixture to sit until foamy, about 5 to 8 minutes.
    Step 2
Meanwhile, in a stand mixer, whisk bread flour, remaining 1 tablespoon white sugar, salt and melted butter. Once the yeast mixture is foamy, add it to your stand mixer. Using the dough hook, knead on medium speed until the dough is smooth and stretchy, about 8 minutes.
    Step 3
Transfer the dough ball to a bowl lightly greased with cooking spray. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place (about 75 to 80 degrees F) until doubled in size, about 90 minutes. Punch it down, then transfer dough to a work surface and knead a few times. Cut it in half and gently shape into two 3x6-inch loaves-be careful not to overwork the dough.
    Step 4
Place the loaves on a parchment-lined baking sheet and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise in a warm environment until puffy, about 30 minutes to 1 hour.
    Step 5
Meanwhile, make the topping by whisking white sugar, brown sugar and cinnamon in a small baking dish. Whisk melted butter and corn syrup in a separate small baking dish.
    Step 6
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and line two 9x5-inch loaf pans with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on both sides. Cut four deep slashes across the top of each loaf (the loaves will deflate).
    Step 7
Dip each loaf in the butter-corn syrup mixture, coating it completely, then coat with the cinnamon-sugar mixture, making sure the mixtures get in all the crevices.
    Step 8
Place loaves in prepared loaf pans and drizzle with any remaining butter and cinnamon sugar. Bake until golden brown, 25 to 30 minutes. Lift the bread out of the loaf pans and let cool, about 15 minutes.
    Step 9
While the bread cools, make the glaze by whisking confectioners' sugar, salt, melted butter and 3 tablespoons milk in a bowl until smooth. Whisk in up to 2 more tablespoons of milk if needed to thin out the glaze.
    Step 10
Drizzle the glaze on the warm loaves or serve on the side for dipping.

Not only does she give millions and millions of books to children to encourage reading, she gave over $1.000.000 to help researchers develop the Covid vaccine. She has a bald Eagle sanctuary for birds who have injuries and can’t live in the wild. She also pays for employees to go to college (all expenses). This includes their children. I’m sure there’s other things. She is an icon and inspiration.

Dolly’s dad never learned how to read (pretty common for poor people in that region at that time), so she has set up “The Dolly Parton Imagination Library” to donate books to children who come from low income families. And not used books, but fresh off the presses new books (she felt that poor kids get enough hand-me-downs, and need to experience the pride in owning something new that is just for them and didn’t previously belong to someone else). I believe, though I could be wrong, that she has donated the most books of anyone in the US ever.

The Smokies are next to Dollywood. Fun fact: the Appalachian mountains are the same as the Scottish highlands, separated by geologic ages since Pangea. As an East Tennessean, I find it amazing that so many Scots wound up here, and it was kinda the same place.
Also, Dollywood is amazing. It used to be a theme park called Silver Dollar City. Pigeon Forge where it's located might be the tackiest place on Earth, but it's fun.

Just saw this video, it was great. I know you are going to Orlando in October, but I think Dollywood is a much better place. The rides are just as good, but the food is 10 times better at Dollywood. Add the fact that the staff are so friendly and accommodating. Oh, and it is much cheaper also. I'll also take the beautiful fall weather in Tennessee over the heat and humidity in Orlando. That is my opinion, but having visited theme parks in Germany, Sweden, Japan, and all over the USA, I find this to be my favorite.

My son has been receiving books for 2 years now. Dolly never forgot her humble beginnings. There's definitely a reason she's so widely loved not only nationally but globally as well.

The sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg TN, Cherokee NC corridor in the Great Smokies is a family adventure wonderland. All kinds of amusement/thrill rides, go cart tracks, dinner theaters, specialty museums, shopping and resorts. More adventurous will like the mountain coasters, bungee, zip line, horseback rides, 4 wheeler adventure’s and hiking. Tons of historical sites, both colonial and Native Cherokee. And of course, Dollywood. Truly a cool place to visit.

Dollywood is consistently one of the most welcoming places in the country, because it combines southern hospitality with what you can "woke" and Dolly calls "loving her neighbors".

However, Dolly didn't open it. It was several things before it became Silver Dollar City. In 1986, Dolly bought into it with a contract that stipulated a lot of growth on the park. Which it has, grown that is. It's larger than Disneyland, and it has recently received an award for best theme park in the world, i think. At any rate, the corporation that runs it and several other theme type parks is a great company to work for.

I went to Dollywood last year! I’m a coaster enthusiast, all I do is travel the world to ride those things lol. I’ve been to somewhere around 60 parks and gotta say Dollywood ranks very highly. It’s got some really fun, intense rides but also lots of other stuff to do, plus absolutely beautiful theming. Seriously, so good. Oh yeah, 7:29 fun fact about the train. It’s actually of historical significance. It is a coal powered locomotive that was used in WW2, I can’t remember where now but it was used in North America somewhere for transporting goods around. The park has kept it under the coal power, gotta be careful cause coal in your eye is not fun, trust me lol. Most theme park trains that were old locomotives get converted to run on diesel engines, so I love this authenticity. 8:39 Lightning Rod opened as the world’s first and only wood coaster with a launch. However it’s been plagued with technical issues and while the supports have remained wood, the track rails are now almost entirely steel. And this past year they converted the lift from a launch to a chain. Way less cool in my opinion. 12:52 I rode the drop tower in TORRENTIAL rain lol, when we dropped for a second there we were going the same speed as the rain drops and it looked like they were frozen in the air. Then we stopped falling and were met with the continuing barrage of rain 💀 19:34 Wild Eagle is classified s as a “wing” coaster, and this one is easily one of the most scenic with the mountains. Doesn’t have the same first drop a lot of these models have either, so it’s a unique specimen.

My mother&father-in-law live about 50 miles from Gatlinburg, Tennessee. We have been married for 33 years. Now Gatlinburg is right on the side of a mountain and Pigeon Forge is located right next to Gatlinburg. My wife and I have been going to DollyWood and Gatlinburg area for all of those 33 years. It is the most amazing area to visit. Gatlinburg, during the winter, even has a ski resort known as Ober Gatlinburg. If you go there, plan on a couple of weeks. There is so much to do in the area. The Smoky Mountains, Cherokee, North Carolina is really close too. There is a place known as Cade's Cove, just outside of Gatlinburg. It is a National (I think it is National) Park that you can drive through. My wife have seen elk, deer, turkey, black bear and many other animals driving through there. Go and have the time of your life. One other thing, the guy is playing the banjo, not guitar.

Dollywood is awesome. Its theme is "Down Home", the way people used to live in rural America, especially the mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina but with lots of modern amenities and entertainment. The food in Dollywood is first class and the portions are huge, be prepared to share. Apple Butter is beyond delicious, especially pared with that amazing Cinnamon Bread. I've been there several times at different times of the year. My favorite times are Autumn, when the trees change colors and the air smells of fallen leaves and pine but, my absolute favorite time is Christmas, Dollywood out does itself at Christmas, it's like being in a movie.

Dolly has her own program for books. Any child in the US from birth to 5 years can sign up for free. They will get a new book every month. She mails more than 1 million books PER MONTH. Most recent stat I can find is as of Nov. 2023, Dolly has donated 224,000,000 books.
When a wildfire burned most of the little town she is from, she gave every single resident that needed it money every month to get them back on their feet.

Adam Couser, YOU WOULD LOVE DOLLYWOOD! You must come if you are traveling near Nashville Tennessee, Pidgeon Forge is the name of the area. Dollywood is Dolly Parton's own amusement park dedicated to the Smokey Mountain Appalachian culture! Yes, Dollywood has a very Southern easy going feeling to it unlike the rush of bigger amusement parks like Six Flags, Disney World or Universal Studios. Yes, the food is DELICIOUS! The Imagination Library that is shown in the Dolly Parton Museum is Dolly Parton's charity where children who are signed up with the program aged baby though i think 6 can get free books sent to them. Dolly Parton's father could not read or write although he was very smart so she was inspired by her father to set up that Imagination Library where you see the big numbers of books that have been distributed on that number tally inside the Dolly Parton Museum.

My family went up there for vacation this year. We stayed in a huge log cabin and had a mama black bear and her 3 cubs wander our back porch every night. It’s such a fun place and the mountains around there are stunning. The park has rides and entertainment. The food is great and the staff super friendly. Dollywood was created by Dolly Parton the famous country singer and actress blessed with a large bust and curves. She also has a reading program that gives children’s books to kids.

I grew up near Dollywood and my family got season passes each year as we were growing up and so we went quite a lot (we did that instead of vacations). Now that I have my own kids (and we live out-of-state), we still try to bring the kids once a year and get the 3-day combo pass for Dollywood and Dollywood’s Splash Country. And then while we’re in that neck of the woods we also do the Great Smoky Mtns Natl Park (also my old stomping grounds) and Gatlinburg. It’s very nostalgic for me, it feels like going home. My kids love it as much as I did growing up, it’s becoming nostalgic for them too! And we all love Dolly, she is a gem and a national treasure. She does so much good. The cinnamon bread really does live up to the hype, there’s nothing like it. The vibe is awesome, the rides are fun, the food is top notch Southern fare. Fun shows and musicians too, first class. Great people! I hope you get to go sometime, it is well worth it!

Just went there in July it’s in a major tourist area called pigeon forge it’s one of the entrances to the great smoky mountain national parks with great views of the Appalachian mountains and great nature area the pigeon forge area is entirely touristy with dinner shows where they do a play as pirates while you eat or a dinner show with horsemanship they also have a lot of old colonial era cabins along with other attractions. One of the most visited tourist areas in the country

I haven't been to Dollywood in at least 20 years, but I still have amazing memories from it. It didn't have nearly as many rides as it does now, but the food was always great, the live shows were entertaining, and the atmosphere just has a certain type of aura while you're there. People always seem to be in their friendliest mood and you can make a day out of doing anything there. I had a blast feeding all of the koi they had in the pond. You'd put a quarter in and get a handful of fish food to throw out and they'd all go crazy like piranhas. And there were about a million turtles as well. It was just a ton of fun, but the absolute gold standard there was the train ride. You get to take a tour and see the cabin and go all around. It may not be at the same level as some of the other amusement parks out there, but it's one that just feels...comfortable. The atmosphere makes it even better.

I live 500 miles away now and I really want some cinnamon bread now.

Bald Eagle name: The Latin name “Haliaeetus leucocephalus” means “white-headed sea eagle”, referencing its genus classification. The word “bald” refers to an old English use of the word meaning “white” since the head is distinctly feathered.

Dollywood is just outside of Seveirville, which is just outside of Pigeon Forge, TN. My family used to go down to Pigeon Forge and stay in a cabin in the mountains. Pigeon Forge is literally PACKED with things to do. Mini Golf, museums, laser tag, you name it, it’s all packed onto one street in Pigeon Forge.
My favorite was the Titanic museum, which is an exact replica of the ship. When we went a few years ago, they had the actual violin used by the musicians on board. Apparently it had been in an air tight case and so it was in perfect condition.

My favorite part about Dollywood is the artist shops from the glasswork, leather, the candlemaking. Its a place that you can get american made items and see it being crafted in front of you. And the glassblowing-not sure if they still have it, havent been to TN in 8 years- but watching glass vases being made is so beautiful and awestruck.
Dixie Stampede is also another Dolly attraction i love. Splash Country’s okay but i havent gone to it as much as Dixie.
Oh fun fact behind Dollywood on the mountain is a place called Parrot Mountain which is as its name says a place with parrots, other birds like finches, toucans, some hawaiian birds-last I recall.

It’s funny that they said “WWDD what would dolly do?” Because I have some earrings that say that! She is an incredibly inspiring person and has done so much good in the world it’s unreal. When they wanted to induct her into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because of how many songs she has written that have been covered by rock artists she didn’t feel like she deserved it unless she had a rock song so she wrote one and performed it. She donated tons of money to develop the Covid vaccine but when they offered it to her in the first round of them she said she wouldn’t jump the line just because she donated and waited until the immuno suppressed and front line workers got there’s because she said it was more important for them to get it. She donates money to all kinds of causes. She has been a hero of mine for a long time!

Despite with Josh said, kettle corn is not caramelized corn. Kettle corn is only lightly sweetened. Caramelized corn has a lot more sugar and it is cooked until the sugar turns brown or caramelized. They have two different looks and two different tastes.
I think the sugar is cooked until it’s caramelized first and then tossed in with the popped corn to make caramelized corn.

I lived for a few years just across the Smoky Mountain National Park from Pidgeon Forge, TN (where Dollywood is) in Townsend, TN ("the quiet side of the Smokies"). We got family passes to Dollywood. Aside from the regular stuff all summer they have special weeks (one for kids, one for gospel music, one for bluegrass, one with performers from all over the world, etc.). And the regular music shows in the park as as good as you will find anywhere. Plus there is a waterpark that is owned by the same people if you want a lot of wet rides that are just across the road from DW called Splash Country. And for the Christmas season they put up something like 6 million Christmas lights! It really is a cool place.

Hello from Knoxville TN! I lived about 30 minutes from Dollywood for years. Had a season pass to the park and water park (yes, there is a massive water park as well) for years. Pass would let you get into the park before the general public. I would drive to the park early in the morning almost every Sunday just to grab 6-10 loaves of the cinnamon bread for family and friends. It's that good... especially warm right out of the oven. ✌️

Dollywood is my favorite theme park in the us. Of course I'm prejudiced since I am from Tennessee and I love my state and next to the Florida Gulf Coast the Great Smoky Mountains is the best place to vacation in my opinion. It's a little over for an hour drive from my house to Pigeon Forge.
Many people don't realize this but the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most visited Park in the usa. People just assume it's one of the parks out west but it's Tennessee holding that honor.
I think the best way to describe the theme of Dollywood theme park is Appalachian Mountains Life
One of the things I don't show in this video and that I enjoy the most about the park is the live musical shows they have. There are more rides to and not all of them are the as big and exciting as the ones they showed in the video but there are plenty of things for kids and families to do here.
Dolly and whoever runs her business enterprises are brilliant. She and her Enterprise bought a theme park that had been in that location since the 1950s. It had gone out of style.
That area of East Tennessee at the foothill of the Smoky Mountains had a lot of poverty. Dolly grew up near there in a very poor family and promised if she ever made it big she would come back and take care of the people there.
Dollywood provides jobs for so many people. Which provides even more jobs. And all the people that come to Dollywood stay in the other hotels and eat in restaurants and people have jobs now because of Dolly.

Dollywood is the only theme park in Tennessee left, if you are here on vacation pigeon forge is a tourist town and 5 miles away is Gatlinburg, where you turn to go to Dollywood is a gift shop that has live bears you can see
