Actually she started at 13 with the Album Precious by Cubic U which was a collaboration of her with her parents That album was released in the US in 1996 and she had a music video of her covering the old classic song Close to You Also she is 15 in this video, some people just look older naturally As for other Japanese artists there are tons and tons of them But I would recommend "Feel my Soul" , "Good-bye Days(2012 ver)"and "Summer Song" by YUI I would recommend other songs too but unfortunately these are the only full music videos uploaded in her official youtube channel Yes, this is the same artist as FMAB Opening 1 song Again and Bleach Opening 5 Rolling Star
Hello! Hikaru Utada is good. I am glad you reacted! Now she is about 40 years old, but she is getting more wonderful! The song “One Last Kiss” is also very nice and I hope you listen to it. I think you can feel the current Hikaru Utada!
Forgot to add in my last comment....if you want to hear how she sounds more currently, One Last Kiss is a good one to hear! Oh and you said in your last UH video that you wanted to hear more Ringo Sheena, they did a collab for two songs, but my favorite one of theirs is called "Nijikan Dake no Vacance"
Hikaru Utada's 'Automatic' reminds me of that time when The Fugees was strumming your pain with his fingers... I'd also recommend another of Utada's hit 'Can You Keep a Secret'. It was stuck in my head at one time.
You'd love the whole album if you love the R&B vibe 🥰 she was born in NY and lived part time in the US so she has a lot of influences from the US that she brought over to JP. She actually lives semipermanent in the UK now ever since covid rn since the last time I checked.
Taka has covered Hikaru Utada's songs in live performances! If you like Hikaru Utada, you should also listen to Misia's "Tsutsumikomu Youni"! This song is also quite old, but it has a 90's feel! Another one is Toshinobu Kubota's "La La La Love Song"! This is also the height of R&B!
Utada Hikaru is a legend! Thanks to her, J-pop was dominated by R&B for about a decade. There is also an R&B duo called Double, who were active during the same period. While Utada Hikaru was popular throughout Japan, Double was known as the Queen of R&B among dedicated R&B fans. If you like 90's R&B, you should definitely check out their debut song, "Shake"
Hi Luke! Please also react to the songs of the singer Misia who also has an R&B style. Some of her famous songs are "Everything" and also "Tears of Orphans" which is the Ending Theme of the anime Mobile Suit Gundam: IRON-BLOOD ORPHANS. And of course please react to the songs by Utada Hikaru: Beautiful World from the movie Rebuild of Evangelion and Pink Blood which is the opening theme of To your eternity
Hi there! Thank you for great reactions as always❤ As far as I know, R&B has existed in the Japanese music scene for quite some time. Especially in the late 90's and early 2000's, I think it was more active than now. I kind of miss that time😊
Don´t remember from which Drama but I loooove this OST´s song. I believe is like from a Japanese version of Garden of Flowers. loooove that song so much
I Love her Voice since playing KH years ago ...Have you checked Out her Evangelion Remake Songs ? Beautifull World, Sakura Nagashi, one Last Kiss .....but be warned they will Made you watch the Movies
I would suggest you to listen to Traveling, both her first release and her recent release of it to hear the difference as a singer and songwriter cause she does write her own music.
I've been listening to this very song for 20+ years (along with many of her other amazing tracks!) Luke, next you need to do a whole series listening to the top hits of Megumi Hayashibara. Not only is she a fantastic and varied voice actress with literally hundreds of characters to her credit for more than 30 years, but also has done the OP and ED songs for countless big anime for all that time too. She is a QUEEN!!
Wow I haven't thought about Hikaru Utada in ages, she was so legendary for her R&B sound that I even remember some of her songs playing in the American shopping mall radios I grew up around in the early 2000s. I forgot how epic her voice is
I don't like R&B and country in general, but she is one of those singers get a pass from me. Had anyone asked for Angela Aki.... you should listen to her. As for Utada, both her parent are well known performing artist... her mom is an enka singer so there are DNA in her.
A few suggestions you might like: Utada Hikaru - Simple and clean Utada Hikaru - Traveling Speed - Body and soul Speed - Steady Amuro Namie - Sweet 19 blues Amuro Namie - Don't wanna cry Globe - Departures Globe - Can't stop fallin' in love TRF -Boys meet girl TRF - EZ Do dance
Being Japanese American she was someone who was essentially born to have a unique sound. I remember the first time I heard her and was so flabbergasted, it was so different than any other j pop artist I had ever heard
Luke, if you like J-pop/J-Rock throwback music you should check out Leo Ierie, she's been performing for over 10 years now but definitely has more of an early 00s style and a sunning voice. ua-cam.com/video/Cow8vGHVegs/v-deo.html is one of her newer songs but it truly shows her talent. This is one of her non-anime tracks. It's called Silly.
Utada hikaru is such a hidden gem! I love her since I first kingdom hearts when I was 10! Also..did you watch rosé on bbc lounge singing apt and covering last Christmas? If you haven’t I recommend it! But loved the reaction. ❤❤❤❤
Might be an unpopular opinion here in western regions, and while I respect her English KH songs because at least they still got her to do them in English, I firmly believe her Japanese versions of the songs are far superior.

Utada's First Love, Automatic, and Traveling are legends.
She is a valuable Japanese singer who produces everything from compositions to arrangements💓
She has so many great songs. Some that I really love are Wait&See, Traveling and Sakura Drops. But there are soooooo many more! She is amazing!!
jpop of that time is full of songs like this ^^

I remember this song being massive back in 2000-2001 when I lived in Tokyo
Automatic is one of my top 3 Utada songs overall and I'm not even joking. It's such a vibe

First song and music video I heard from her was FINAL DISTANCE, it made me tear up and it's crazy. Check that out
I Love her Voice since playing KH years ago ...Have you checked Out her Evangelion Remake Songs ? Beautifull World, Sakura Nagashi, one Last Kiss .....but be warned they will Made you watch the Movies
THIS IS THE SONG I THINK ABOUT WHEN I TEXT MY CRUSH 🤭😍
I would suggest you to listen to Traveling, both her first release and her recent release of it to hear the difference as a singer and songwriter cause she does write her own music.
Traveling is so GOOD!
One Last Kiss', written for the film Shin Evangelion The Movie!
Please also react to the song by Hikaru Utada, who has grown up.
I've been listening to this very song for 20+ years (along with many of her other amazing tracks!)

I don't like R&B and country in general, but she is one of those singers get a pass from me.
Had anyone asked for Angela Aki.... you should listen to her.
As for Utada, both her parent are well known performing artist... her mom is an enka singer so there are DNA in her.

Being Japanese American she was someone who was essentially born to have a unique sound. I remember the first time I heard her and was so flabbergasted, it was so different than any other j pop artist I had ever heard
?宇多田ヒカルって国籍が日本とアメリカの二重国籍なだけで日本人だと思いますよ😮
So are you going to do a re-reaction to the 3 KH openings now that you have more knowledge on the singer/song writer? ;)
Dude this song is more than 20 years ago of course it’s old school.
Btw, I think you haven't react to Don't Think Twice from Kingdom Heart 3 yet by Utada.
Day 11 of getting Luke to react to Oshakashama by RADWIMPS
@GOTGames do next reaction on One last Kiss - Hikaru Utada song is from Evangelion 3.1 final movie
Luke, if you like J-pop/J-Rock throwback music you should check out Leo Ierie, she's been performing for over 10 years now but definitely has more of an early 00s style and a sunning voice.

Please react to Fly High by Ayumi Hamasaki and Every Heart by Boa. I think you will like Ai no Bakayarou by Goto Maki.

But loved the reaction. ❤❤❤❤

@ I honestly prefer her Japanese ones too. I listen to them the most more than simple and clean, don’t think twice and my sanctuary.
