I am a boy and I am 24 years old. Six years ago, when I was depressed, when I had three unsuccessful suicide attempts, I met BTS. In short, they brought my life back to me. Instead of crying at night and thinking about suicide, I spent my time watching BTS and just laughing. Now I have been living in South Korea for five years and thanks to BTS, almost all my dreams It is possible and now I only wish to come to the concert that I will 100% go to the concert of these seven angels in 2026.

BTS started as a hip hop group when they debuted in 2013. Although they started as hip hop group, their discography is very diverse. There are 7 members in BTS ; 3 rappers and 4 vocalists.
Butter is the 2nd song of their English trilogy released during the pandemic. It's happy poppy tune to cheer up people. I think butter still hold the record for most views in 24 hrs (108M).
Boy with luv is considered bubblegum pop. Very colourful indeed. It served as a parallel track of their earlier song, boy in love. There's another song that is super colourful, idol. Despite all the colours, idol is full of cultural references and required an explanation video.
Mic drop is a diss track. BTS came from a small agency and received a lot of hate till this day. The original version in full korean does not have mv.
If you like edm, the only song that i could think of from BTS is best of me and so what (my mind not really working right now). There's no mv for both songs but you can find the live versions with english subs.
If you like dark ecstatic, try black swan, fake love, blood, sweat and tears or house of cards. When i said dark, i don't mean just appearance.
If you like intense choreo, try on kinetic manifesto or run bts (not run, that's another song). Run bts does not have mv but the dance practice is as good as mv.
BTS is not active as a group currently due to mandatory military service. Only 2 of their members have completed their service. The rest will be discharged June2025. Although they are not active as a group, they still continue to release solo contents (some are pre recorded). You can checkout some of their latest solo work; RM (lost), Jin (running wild), Suga@AgustD (haegeum), J-hope(neuron), Jimin(who), V(fri(end)s) and Jungkook(standing next to you).
    Have fun! ☺

Dude dude DUUUUUUDE! You don't start with Butter, Boy With Luv, or Dynamite. That's like someone going "I think I'll check out the Beatles!" but then you start with "Octopuses Garden." No shade to Ringo, but you would have a skewed view of the Beatles if that's your first impression. Same with this. Although "Boy With Luv" is slightly more on target. Still you wanna start with something like "Black Swan" or "Spring Day." Hell, start with any of the cyphers if you're more interested in the rap line. You can get into vocal line later. There's as many BTS songs as there are episodes of One Piece so pick an era or a subset and pace yourself. You might as well call off work for the next week right now. Godspeed.

Those 3 are imo among the best to introduce many newbies to tho. And it's exactly bcs they're poppy; imo most ppl like that type of music and at least with BTS, it was proven. If not, Boy With Luv wouldn't have given them a #8 on the BB Hot100 (BWL I can concede it may have been mostly ARMYs' efforts), and later on Dynamite and Butter gave them 2 consecutive #1's (but these 2 def had newbies interested), and if we keep going, so did Permission to Dance. They're not my favorites among BTS's catalog tbh BUT I love those songs bcs they're cheerful. My mom was not an ARMY nor was she interested in them (she's still like a casual but dedicated fan when she randomly sees them on the news and gets the spotify music updates), but she LOVED Dynamite. It was playing every time I was with her. So I don't think they're bad for newbies, they're like an appetizer or a bait for ppl lol. They think they know what to expect out of BTS with those songs but they're dead wrong, but I DO think BTS recs should be more based on the newbies' music tastes.

BTS is technically a K-pop group (mostly because they were formed through the K-pop Trainee System) but they go way beyond that - they are global artists that experiment a lot with their sound. They're considered a pop group - even a K-pop group specifically - but they do a lot of different genres. They're the biggest group in the world and are competing with the biggest Western artists without any industry support whether from the K-pop Industry or the American Industry. They produce, write and compose and are heavily involved in their career at all levels. BTS are living legends 💜
Each member has a successful solo career with very different styles. They're on hiatus until June 2025 to complete their mandatory military service and take the time to focus on their solo career. Jin - the oldest - just released his debut album 'Happy' and V will be releasing a Christmas duet of Bing Crosby's 'White Christmas' on December 6th
They debuted as BTS in 2013 in an almost bankrupt label and rose to the top through hard work
They have 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. 2 of their rappers (RM, the leader, and SUGA aka Agust D) were underground rappers before the group was formed and the other one (j-hope) was a rather well-known street dancer who won competitions at national level. The vocalists (Jin, Jimin, V and Jungkook) all have unique voices with different abilities which complement each other very well. Their voices are all wonderful and have impressive technique. Jimin was also a top student in contemporary dance before joining BTS
They have exceptional teamwork and consider each other family
They write meaningful lyrics and love to convey a message through their art. They really are passionate artists and are genuinely wonderful humans 💜

Thanks for your reaction. The group had its beginnings being a more hip hop group... over time it diversified handling genres such as: R&B, Pop, EDM, Rock, Jazz.
There are a rap sub unit within the group and a vocal sub unit where the rappers have few songs by themselves and the same with vocal line... But most of their songs as a complete group combines rap and vocals in Korean with a little of english
They have 3 english songs that are very poppy and cheerfull becaused were released during the pandemic because they wanted to cheer up their fans during that time. Those songs were composed by American artists although the BTS rap line did write their part of the song. In most of the group's songs the 3 rappers are very involved
BTS albums have a sequence or a chronology of topics to deal with... Fans classify BTS's discography as eras (generally made up of album trilogies). Among the concepts they have dealt with aspects of human psychology. This song belongs to the album "Map of the Soul"... Which comes after the "Love yourself" Era
The meaning of the concept of the album "Map of the Soul" has to do with four versions related to analytical psychology of the book "The map of the soul according to Jung": Persona, Anima, Self and Shadow. Remembering that Jung was one of the most popular psychoanalysts of the 20th century and founder of depth psychology, which is mainly based on what exists between consciousness and the unconscious
Without going into so much detail about these 4 aspects of being according to Jung... The Anima is the feminine aspect present in the collective unconscious of men and the Animus is the masculine aspect present in the collective unconscious of women. In other words, we all have feminine and masculine energy, although one prevails over the other in each individual
So in this video the feminine energy present in the members is exalted because they have already connected with their Anima and that is why they are "boys with love".. they feel complete. Remember that in general in many cultures men are expected to project a strong, masculine image, which is a sign of weakness to show emotions, especially love or crying, which are "more feminine" aspects. So these BTS albums seek to generate a journey towards the encounter with ourselves and the acceptance of the "I" among them the integration of our polarity, be it feminine or masculine... and for this reason a lot of vibrant tone is used in this video and shades of pink in the color palette of the video
BTS is quite a versatile group within K-pop and they are not afraid to explore and play with different genres and concepts in their songs and videos and that is why you will see a bit of everything in their music styles and the image they project
Sorry for the length, but I know that here in the West many men clash a bit with the "soft" and "feminine" image that male K-pop artists have, you just have to understand that it is a culture that in general celebrates beauty more, elegance and versatility... which accepts slightly androgynous looks that are not shocking to them, since in fact the public demands changes in style (in hair color and outfits) the use of accessories such as bracelets, necklaces, earrings. .. Asian fans expect the artist to be a bit of a chameleon according to the concepts they want to convey with their albums
Also, as you have already seen, BTS changes a lot in style from one video to another: we have seen them with a casual style, a more pop style, Hip Hop, Emo and even with Latin vibes, etc
    Greetings from México 💜

I have no idea why so many dislikes since you're honest but kind and respectful. Maybe it's just because people are tired of the "K-pop hater" label in the titles, IDK. K-pop is more of an industry than a genre of m,usic and BTS were the underdogs and the disturbers of the status quo since their very humble beginnings. They are phenomenal live and their vast discography encompasses many genres. They often touch on some serious topics and managed to ruffle many feathers, in the industry and even the politics. They are not your typical boy band in the Western sense - they call the shots in their own career and make their own music, their label (also Korean musi in general, entertainment and even tourism) stands on their shoulders so to speak. They are also the kindest and funniest people with no f*cks to give.
PS. Being well-groomed and stylish is a Korean thing, especially visible in entertainment, but Korean men in general don't fall far from that - especially in the big cities.

There is a theme that runs through their albums touching on many societal and mental health issues. They heavily promote self love and giving back. Their videos are influenced by psychoanalysts like Carl Jung and novels by Herman Hesse. Never turn off a video before the very end, you never know what you may miss. They started with a very small company in SK who had little influence over tv and radio which is how groups debut over there. So they marketed themselves by giving free concerts, were among the very first to vlog on YT, posted "bangtan bombs" which shows behind the scenes footage, dance practices, vacations - and developed their own variety show Run BTS. This is how they managed to build such a huge fandom called ARMY (you'll see they spell out ARMY in the Butter MV) - because of the time and effort they put into their fans. They're currently carrying out mandatory military enlistment with the first two being discharged in June and October of this year. They regularly go onto the Weverse platform and interact live with ARMY. Reunion will be June 2025 when all members are discharged.

There is a common miss conception of what K-pop is. People ( and the competition lol) has conveniently leveled it as a genre, when it’s actually a whole industry. What BTS has done in the past 11 years , as a group and as solo artist, is unprecedented.

I’m a new sub from South Africa. I have been BTS Army since 2015 - you won’t find a more talented group of men anywhere, nor a better group of human beings. Most Army are with BTS initially because we come across a song we like, then we discover MANY songs we like, then we discover what beautiful souls these men have, and suddenly we are Army (pretty much for life 😂🤷‍♂️). All South Korean men between the ages of 18-30 must do 18-24 months of National service in the Korean armed forces/military - two of the members of BTS have just completed their service, while the other five are still enlisted and will finish around the middle of next year - so although we have had some amazing solo albums from all the members, we have had no actual BTS songs for a while, and won’t until later next year. We all still love watching BTS content reactions though, and I look forward to seeing more BTS reactions from you - you haven’t even scratched the surface yet, and these are not their “best” songs, IMO - so you have some treats ahead of you 🌸💜

Since you said you like techno music and dance music... i would suggest you listen to I NEED YOU, SAVE ME, SO WHAT and FIRE.
BTS make a large variety of music and generally you can find anything you're looking for if you actually spend your time exploring their discography. Even in genres you don't actually love all that much, you still find that their music is just better. Plus the added aspect of the stage performance and the creativity of concepts and exploration of these conceptual themes themselves is like a bonus... Added garnishing on an already well made meal.
Once you become a bit more familiar with their music, you can't help but be curious about them as artists and people as well. And that is really where they actually get ya! All the members are so talented, have great personalities, are funny, and just such good and likeable people, that its hard to dislike them. There is also a lot of old as well as still outpouring content for the fans that you can just pick up a starting point and start exploring.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy your journey with BTS and you can have fun exploring these amazing artists and come to understand why people love them so much, if you don't join us that is 🤪💜

These guys are all very successful solo artists as well as being in BTS. ARMY is eagerly awaiting their return from the military in 2025 (2 are done, the other 5 still serving). Just an aside, these guys are also humble, kind and generous. No arrogance or egos amongst them. Thank you for your reaction.

The genre of K-pop is misleading because it's not just Pop music. It's any type of music from Korea. BTS writes, composes, produces their own music with the help of others. They are very hands on. They cover many different genres. Glad you gave them a listen. While still a band, they have solo works. 2 of them have completed their mandatory military service for South Korea, and the other 5 are due back in 2025.

I'm 46 with a long history of loving alt bands and indie artists. If the lyrics were silly or vapid, I was the first to skewer them.
I was into everything but pop, and because of that I dismissed BTS.
Color me surprised when I saw them perform Boy with Luv on SNL and was utterly charmed by them.
And then they came out to do Mic Drop as their second song, and it was like a completely different group had hit the stage and set it on fire.
Then I saw their first appearance on Jimmy Fallon, and was impressed by the humble, warm personalities. It wasn't at all what I was used to seeing from celebrity groups. They were just goofy friends teasing each other and making the audience comfortable. But when they hit the stage, a switch FLIPPED and it was like seeing your best friend turn into a superhero.
But what made me stick around was finding out how they have SO MANY songs with very meaningful, poetic, and inspiring lyrics.

KPop is not a genre it is an industry. BTS cover many genres from hard rap to pop to ballads. If you like house and tech I recommend watching the MV Blood Sweat and Tears. For hard rap I recommend Cyphers parts 1 to 4 and Ugh, for more R&B soul type I recommend House of Cards, for Ballad I recommend The Truth Untold. They are even better live than in studio, they sing/rap while doing heavy choreo, no lip synching. Hope you watch more. Also, all 7 members also have solo music if you look for RM, Agust D (Suga for BTS group music), Jin, J Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook. All 7 have very different styles.

  • @beccal.5369
    @beccal.5369 День тому +4

Easiest to think in these terms. 'K-Pop' is an industry . It covers most genres and includes soloists and groups and is a blanket term used mostly in the West to indicate that the artist is from Korea and has music that is popular. In Korea, they don't really use the term K-Pop. They call these types of groups or soloists "Idols" (or Idol groups). It is not common for Idol groups to write their own music or be so involved in their art. BTS Members are all songwriters, composers and producers, and BTS has broken thru the barriers that come with being called "KPop Idols" and have become "Global Artists" instead. That said, they are extremely proud of their country of birth, so being referred to as KPop stars does not bother them.. The reason so many ARMY get upset is that it is usually used in a derogatory manner when people just dismiss BTS as some little KPop boyband. As you will find, most (not all) of KPop and boy bands are being forced to sing innane lyrics to boppy tunes and no real substance.
You will find people who love BTS truly love music.... and most of us are not into any other Idol groups... we value BTSs sincerity and authenticity in all aspects of their lives... it is more than just music...
However, that said...Other Korean acts I would very highly recommend that write their own music and are very talented and favoured by ARMY for their authenticity...
    TRY...
Female group... Mamamoo... Dingo Killing Voice Live performance
Female soloist... IU... Love Wins All ( the MV also stars V from BTS)
Male soloist... DPR Ian... Don't Go Insane
K-Rock band... The Rose... Back To Me
IU and Woosung from The Rose have collaborated with BTS in the past.
    Have a great day.
