Loving your channel guys. Love the Wharram as well. Be great if you can point Zig Zag down here in the direction of Nz. Btw, my beer fridge will be restocked. In time. Thank you for sharing. Take care.
We are considering shipping her East in next 5 years if we can swing it! Would love to explore over there! We will actually be in NZ in February next year! (Without our boat unfortunately) but Maybe we can get snag a drink together! 🍻
@@ZigZagSailing_113oh you bet. I'll make time to catchup....if it's logistically possible. February I should be around the Golden Bay area. Top of the South Island, for about 4-5 weeks. Good fishing there. Cheers.
Great video. Enjoying to see the solutions you found on your Tiki. She's just beautiful. I also own a Tiki 30, staying right now in Maputo Bay. Keep doing those awesome videos.
Good question! Alex grew up on stj, I moved there 5 years ago from FL when I met him. We used the 10k he saved up working in kitchens on island to buy the first round of wood and materials. I (Katie) was a jack of all trades, and always held down a job for expenses. I was a teacher by day, server by night for 2 years. Eventually, I switched to teaching yoga, working retail and bartending at the beach. I put up money while Alex built Relentlessly. We stayed in a pop up camper during the first half of the build but when the electricity blew I went to renting a shoebox apartment.which was definitely not ideal, we then lived in a spare bedroom Alex’s parents have while we put the last touches on Zigzag. I even cursed at Alex for not working alongside me at many points during the build. But, I will say that we would not be on this boat today if he didn’t put the boat a priority, and every ounce of his energy into the build. He would start early and still be out in the summer heat when I would comeback. The last high ticket part for us was the 3k bill that came with transporting the boat to the water. Which we saved for. I feel as if our motto was if your heart is in the right place the money will come later. We are currently living on savings. I believe we are defintily rich in ways that money can’t buy!
Wow. Thanks for the detailed response. You're certainly not afraid of hard work to get what you want. I appreciate your candidness. I was in St John in 1989 and loved the island. Always dreamed of buying property there, but prices are now out of reach, unfortunately. Anyway, I'm a new subscriber, and I enjoy your videos and envy your lifestyle. ✌🏽
No worries at all, and of course… I’ve been secretly awaiting for a viewer to have the balls to ask us! And damn…. I wish I could have seen the place in the 80s/90s era, unfortunately, the secret got out and so developed since then…so much so that offspring of families who’ve lived in stj for generations have been slowly moving away. I know that “gentrification” is a common word used in places like Brooklyn but the 3k rent for small apartments reminds me as such. Anyways, we appreciate you subscribing and reaching out! 🙏
I live in Saint John in 1983. I was six years old lol but I remember it. I can still smell and taste the ocean breeze. We moved back to Oklahoma in 4 I did a year of kindergarten there 😂we lived on the beach we were poor as hell so had to move back
@@meandmybuddy964 damn that’s still awesome, at that age too! Out of curiosity do you know if that “Caribbean Jesus” was on peace hill during that time period? I remember reading about it and seeing a picture but I forget what year that big ol thing went down
Most meat here is frozen, any safe suggestions? We don’t have much fridge space to keep it but I think that if I come across it I would be open to getting
