This illness theory makes that one VHS from chapter 3 makes even MORE sense! The kid asked why Kevin was taken away - they automatically asked if he was SICK. Why would being sick be the first thing possible? Why not adopted, why not injured, why not in trouble? It was automatically 'sick' which the doctor leaned into right away - being sick was a NORMAL status of the kids. As kids get sick in the real world it's easy to gloss over but to be the first season a friend is taken away? That's very telling that 'sick' is far more common for these orphans. Such a small detail but just adds another layer of depth to the story!
I’ve had this theory that the nightmare critters are the results of when the teen orphans age out of the foster system when they turn 17. It makes sense because there couldn’t have been just young orphans, there had to have been teenage orphans too. They had to have been running playcare for at least 10 years.
I wouldn’t be shocked at there being teenage orphans. Teenagers don’t get adopted as much as babies or younger children, and I also wouldn’t be shocked if playtime recruited the kids who never ended up getting adopted or became toys.
@@sweethistortea I don’t think they recruited the orphans that became 17. They would still need a place to live. Hence why I think they were turned into toys. Plus, it can tie into the one tape from chapter 3, when the couple were adopting someone from playcare. What if that person they wanted to adopt was a teen?

6:45 here in India we have a really famous song with the line "Kaga re kaga re khaiyo na do naina mohe, piya ke milan ki aas" meaning "Oh crow don't eat my eyes I am still waiting to meet my beloved". That has no relation to poppy playtime but i found that thing ironic since there is a picture of a crow eating someone's eyes that has went viral here in India recently because of this

Would have been cool, but no despite it's coincidences with Poe and the author of the namesake, is not a thing for nightmare critters untiil the summer and I believe the comic was on spring. This coincidence is related to The Tell-Tale Heart and about the eye of Vulture, this is one of Edgar's stories.

The developers said on fan discord that the Nightmare Critters aren’t going to be main antagonist of chapter four. Not to mention their creation was only couple months back so Poe dating back to last year during teasers for chapter 3 doesn’t make sense. Plus Poe is more of a crow because their wings are blunted and splayed. Virus theory does have a strong bases behind it and I believe that chapter might go into that with what happened in research areas of factory.
Could also be the children trapped after the Hour of Joy getting sick and dying, from either something spreading that had been in the factory to begin with, or myriad other things that can go wrong when you have a bunch of creatures and children who have to be cared for. I've been thinking these critters were developed to do the same thing the bigger bodies did, but more out of desperation to keep them alive in some form. Like that line that mentions living long enough to become the bad guy.
Reading their descriptions, they definitely feel like a teenage version of the Smiling Critters. They’re all casual teenage negative traits by general society.
Now i just want a crow plush that actually smells like cinnamon but also what if poe causes nightmares and catnap gives us gas to reduce the nightmares effects
What if it's the opposite and Poe actually gives good dreams, but Catnap gives the nightmares? Why are we all assuming these are the bad guys when Playtime has lied and convinced us otherwise to not trust anything the company says before? After all Catnap was supposed to be one of the good guys, and Dogday, we saw what happened to him not without him trying. What if the Nightmare Critters are... nicer people than we think instead of being evil or monsters? What if the twist si they end up being protagonists or dark allies in our fight against PlaytimeCo.'s dark secrets?
I have a theory that Poe was a scrapped version of Catnap and that he was originally going to be the main antagonist for chapter 3 until he was switched out with Catnap. All of the clues that hinted towards the chapter 3 villain were reminiscent of a bird like character which couldn't have been referring to Catnap
When I first heard the name Poe and saw this new Nightmare Critter I immediately thought of Edgar Allan Poe and ravens, so thank you for exploring this in your theory. With the idea of sick children, I wonder if a big bodies version of Poe would look like a plague doctor? That would very likely give the children nightmares, just a thought. Looking forward to your future theories.
I haven’t heard your whole theory yet, but I always thought that the moth-like/bird-like child’s drawing was meant to show CatNap in his worship pose, since that’s the only time we see him stand on two legs. Still, I’ll listen to and probably agree with your theory.
As for the eyes being lost on many of the small toys, corvids (crows, ravens, magpies, etc) are well know to seak out shiny things and put them in thier nests or stashes. Maybe the eyes of those poor small toys were shiny enough to cause poe to go on a killing/eye collecting spree. We never saw catnap or any other ch3 enemies targeting eyes so poe being the culprit is reasonable, I believe. It was a weirdly specific detail to never really get explained. Plus, theres a new line of destroyed smiling critter plushes coming out which I bet also have eyes hanging out or missing, bringing up that strabge detail again.
I still think the origins of the nightmare critters is they were invented to be teenagers but they were not popular so playtime co decided to bury them and forgotten until the hour of joy where they feast on the dead bodies.
another option is they couldve been created close to the hour of joy? if another theory that the nightmare critters were made from orphans that aged out of the playcare is correct the living versions wouldve been made toward the end of the factory being active. what we see in game could be concept toys that never made it to production or toys that started being made but never shipped.
When they released the smiling critters cartoon, the developers emphasyzed the importance on the clock changing from 10:05 to 10:06. As far as I know, that hadn't been figured out yet. Could it be possible that poe is connected to this? When the teaser poster of the foot on huggy was released, i had a hard time believing that it was anything other than a bird due to the shape of the foot and the claws. it looked too awkward for it to be something like a cat. Maybe poe was originally supposed to be in ch.3. Also, catnap being the one that shredded huggy seems to direct for him when you compare it to his actions in the game. Catnap seams relatively docile with how many opportunities he had to shred the player. He doesn't actually attack us until the end, where we essentially force his hand to attack us

I don't think all of them need an extremely serious name I love rabie baby because the name is cute and awesome it's different not everything needs to be inspired off of a real person or anything these aren't real people but fun toys I love that they chose fun names not all serious names for their characters as they don't need it the names are fine Poe and baba chops are fine the only name I question is the rat really but his name could hint to something dark from this everyone has a dark juicy story their name's shouldn't really stop you from enjoying it

A common way to get rabbies is if a rabid animal bites you, and the most common animal to get rabies from for humans are bats, so I think it'sa reference to that
Rabie Baby is probably based off the fact that bats are one of the major carriers of Rabies, thank you NaturalHabitatShorts for reminding me of that. It could also indicate that less effort was being put into the Critters brand at the point the Nightmare Critters were created to try to revitalize it and some of the names had more thought put into them than others.
Rabie baby sounds like a name a teen trying to be cute and edgy would come up with for an online profile also I like her gonna get the plush when it comes out
Playtime Co. has many levels of malicious individuals that led to the torture and death of countless children and adults, so I would rank Playtime Co. easily as the worst.
Does anyone remember in Home Sweet Home, there are words scribbed on the wall that's easy to miss in one of the large open bedrooms being barricaded, something along with "Angels are watching" or something like that?
It could mean that Poe and Rabie Baby, maybe even Simon Smokes, who all can fly, are the "angels". They're either dark scary twisted angels, or actually guardian angels that are nicer than they seem.
I think having to use what’s commonly called a /black/light to reveal letters is to indicate the intrinsic oppositional / contradictory themes for the next chapter. As in both ‘dark’ ‘smiling’ critters, but also life through death etc.
So far I think Poe and baba chops are the characters to be the important antagonist in this chapter and also just so anybody knows non of nightmare critters are going to be the main antagonist

The idea of both Poe and catnap just watching the player in kinda funny. I do think the intended purpose was that it was catnap altho the theory is defo believable if they had the character back then or if it was a retcon later on

I honestly feel like the nightmare critters represent the 7 deadly sins-sloth, greed, pride, wrath, envy, gluttony, lust (could be replaced with gossiping i guess). that’s just my thoughts.

I have a REALLY awesome theory. Remember the cut outs of the smiling critters? They each basically told the story of their death what if they died by their opposites? Mako literally says she not “Picky”
The tuberculosis theory makes me think of the tuberculosis asylums from the late 1800 and that they would sometimes build round building thinking that the germs couldn't stick to the walls of the building
I feel like they are trying to get us to look at Poe more specifically with that name because all the others have some kind of name that either reference their animal or personality, but, Poe? Just Poe? If it was a Crow then they probably could of just said something like Poe Crow (or change that w for a e for fun) but they don’t. It seems like they are keeping it ambiguous on whether Poe is a crow or raven because we can outright tell with the other ones that have been released (and guessing by the logo the last ones probably a shark) and like you said, there is a story by someone named Edgar Allen *Poe* featuring a Raven being a main part of it. Combined with everything you said, there just seems to be too many hints that Poe can't NOT be important.

Also this theory is very well put together and I like the connections to Edgar Poe and how Poe (the nightmare critter) could possibly be a crow or a raven. I wouldn’t be surprised if this theory is right, It’s genius!
If Poe WAS in the C3 trailer, then it couldn't be in the sealed underground as we open it at the end. Poe could be who attacked Kissy at the end being another one of 1006 deciples following us around C3. The trailer stated something about "every shadow" and Poe also lurks in the dark... Based on this theory, I think we will start C4 taking a wounded Kissy down underground to get medical treatment without knowing what attacked her as Poe ran and flew away before we got back up there. Poe will later then later fly down the same elevator to confront and become a big bad.
I think that Poe is the bird in the trailers for Chapter 3. I thought it was a bird or moth or Chimiera. Before the reveal. And then I was sceptical right up till launch. I don't think it's that meaningful. They're just reference names. The Nightmare Critters are the darker teenage follow up to Smiling Critters. Edgy toys for rebels. Never got released because the Red Gas CatNaps damaged the reputation of the Smiling Critters. I don't think they had rampant disease or anything in Playcare. A lot of sick children Eliott Ludwig wanted to save and make as happy as possible. He was entirely a kind man. But not rampant disease. I don't think for a minute that the insane Prototype is Elliott Ludwig. He's nothing like him. They were taking the business in the militaristic direction. Having Eliott about in any form was not going to help them do it. EL was clearly not militaristic. He had multiple wars to be. But he never was.
Ravens in Celtic lore are guardians. It is not unreasonable to assume that Poe sees himself as a, albeit misguided, guardian figure. Sort of an extreme Batman situation. He watches from a distance and dispenses justice in the form of eye gougings. He keeps order by instilling fear. Ravens are also depicted as messengers so a bird cult relaying information back to 1006 is also likely.
This is a great theory. At first, I kinda thought the naming of Poe the Crow was just an easy smash-grab at evoking emo teenager themes, but relating it to being an orphan and tuberculosis was really insightful. Well done Tericho *golf claps*

I think both examples are just Catnap. The picture says “time for sleep” and has red smoke around the purple blob. Just a crude drawing to keep the full character still hidden. And the shadow figure could also be Bigger Body catnap. I think the show comparison is also a stretch

*(This is a full on paragraph, beware if you're lazy)* Oh I didn't expect the heart since it was like 2 a.m in the morning when I sent it... I'm British too soooo yeah... (I need that juicy lore ok, time is just a number when new lore drops and seriously, you with Herobrine eyes is cursed) didn't expect it, Poppy Playtime is the only game I got interested in enough to learn the lore because of Chapter 2 (ay, if my favourite UA-camrs play it then its worth a shot) since it looked so cool and stuff... now I know its a bit more obvious its creepy and inhumane but dang I know too much lore, I'm committed now and I have no escape, and FakeFox's theory with Harley being immortal is good and Ludwig/1006/The Prototype not being able to leave due to all these poor creations (I'm sure Harley would've liked to have used something more like "abominations, my helpless indentured slaves") having these poor children souls inside of them, and he can't leave them since his heart is gold... (I think our protagonist (I'm turning into a theorist at this point, either that or the side effects of staying up until quarter past 3 have taken finally their toll) will eventually find out why 1006 needs them and why he has placed the grueling murder on his hands... bro this lore is so sad. But about that sly fact that the bigger bodies need food... I need explanations, Ludwig but I have some myself. I saw this theory I don't remember about why the toys like (not need, *like*) food (any, usually cannibalistic but any flesh works as we've seen, so long as its fresh) it was about a Soviet experiment done like nearing the end of the Soviet Union (ironic since Playtime Co. was always nearly there) where these scientists just slapped some people into a room without food (I believe they did get some food and water, but extremely rarely), and when they checked on them there was blood everywhere, the tested were skinny and boney, but the main thing was that they were missing flesh... they ate themselves and they got used to it and liked it, so they kept doing it and couldn't stop it (something like an alcohol addiction or any in general I think. Probably more specifically pure 100% Vodka)and then there was only like 1 guy or something left (they ate each other) . This doesn't explain much for the BBI experiments but for the little ones it opens up possibilities... Anyway if they cooked with Chapter 3 then Chapter 4 gonna be fire 🔥🔥🔥 ( = more sleepless Herobrine nights for you, Tom over at Game Theory, Mike at SuperHorrorBro and other brilliant theorists I can't be bothered to mention since I'm lazy) Anyways thanks :D

Now with poe being revealed now everything makes sense😮if you brighten up the arg image for chapter 3 from last year you could see a face resembling a bird i thought it was kickinchicken but now i doubt it and the shadow we see move away it definitely looks like the creature has wings and the drawing too it doesn't look like catnap at all 😮😮
This theory makes me wonder if the scrapped water area at the playhouse in chapter 3, was originally gonna reveal Maggie Mako. We do know they were working on chapter 4 pre-pre production while making chapter 3. So I wonder if when they decided to scrap the toy store, water area, and original "prison" ideas, they did so just to combined them in new ways for chapter 4. Thoughts?
Sorry this doesn't really deal with the smiling critters that much but- Throughout each chapter the Prototype (experiment 1006) leaves clues of his existence, until chapter 2 when he finally shows he does exist, and that those 'claw marks' weren't from the other dolls. Mob Entertainment (Mob Games) seems to have a lot of fun leaving us with more questions than answers. In the chapter 3 trailer and leaked images we see something that we think is the prototype, just to find in game that it is just an area where CatNap can "worship" the prototype. Now everyone (or at least most if us) thought Poppy Playtime was dark enough in chapters 1 and 2, then when chapter 3 came along we saw the true darkness of the games storyline. Chapter 3 was a whole lot longer and darker than chapters 1 and 2, it answered few questions as of "Who is the next antagonist?" Or stuff similar to that. But we still got left with a ton of questions like "why didn't we get to see the prototype? Why was miss delight out to eat the other teachers when the vending machines were full of food? What was Miss Delight "protecting" the kids from? Who is Ollie? Where are all the bodies? Is someone still alive in the factory? Is Poppy evil? What happened to Kissy Missy?" And there is still a butt load more questions, but you get the idea of what I'm trying to say. In the beginning of chapter 2 we wake up to Poppy's case swung open and the hallway (in which we came down at the end of chapter 1) is blocked off, and now the door that we saw in chapter 1 in no longer baracaded. Now at first I thought Poppy had done all this, but later in the chapter we see that Poppy can't even break out of a simple web, so how can she manage to move a heavy dresser, and all the toys and furniture in the room, yet still be incapable of breaking a simple web? Poppy also never seemed to talk about the prototype. And even though for a majority of the chapter she was locked up again because of Mommy Long Legs, she still had plenty of time to tell us about him before she got locked away. It seems like she had been working with him, or some of the other dolls to either trap us in the factory or kill us. We travel throught he Game Station and work our way through the games, then realize that Statues is impossible and that Mommy was trying to kill us, so we "cheat". Mommy gets upset by this so we have our chase scene, blablabla, you know the game. Then we rescue Poppy, but she just seems off. The player continues listening to Poppy and working with her, just to get to the train, chug off, and Poppy betrays us. I think that Poppy found the true plans of either the Prototype or one of the other dolls and didn't like them, but they wouldn't compromise so Poppy took over for herself. That's why she seemed so different. That's why she didn't want us to leave. Either that or with Tericho's theory he says Poppy could be afraid of the real world, that they wouldn't like her, she knew they'd want to experiment on her, since she was a talking doll after all. After Poppy realizes this she decides that we can't leave either. So she takes us deeper into the factory, where we get into a train crash and chapter 2 ends. We begin chapter 3 with CatNap dropping us into a weird pipe looking thing. After that we solve some puzzles, get to do some parkour and see tiny glimpses of Catnap along the way. Our first interaction with Poppy in this chapter she was with Kissy Missy. She tells us we need to end the prototype and she tells us Catnap is the LAST mini boss we need to defeat before the prototype, well that wad obviously a lie. We end up going against Miss Delight, The Smiling Critters, and Nightmare Huggy before we FINALLY get to have our battle with CatNap, where he gets electrocuted -again- and catches on fire for a moment and almost dies, the the prototype just shows up and puts CatNap "put of his misery". I still question why the prototype sends these dolls after us, but he won't come after us himself. After that we make our ways through the halls back to Poppy and Kissy where Poppy tells us about the Hour of Joy and shows us the tape. We have a sad moment, then we get on the big elevator thingy and we start heading down. We hear screeching and Kissy screaming and scratches, bites, and pretty much all the usually war stuff. Poppy gets worried and chapter 3 ends. Now at the end of chapter 3 we were supposed to go down the elevator to get to the "bodies" before the Kissy incident happened. As I said before Poppy had lied about CatNap being the last doll we have to fight before the prototype, and with the chapter 4 teaser it seems like she still is. In the teaser we see a sheep Smiling Critter (it looks like something from Murder Drones tbh) eating a DogDay Smiling critter that tried eating a dead Bobby Bearhug Smiling Critter. There were some minor hidden details in that but it was a short teaser and there wasn't anything super special, but what was pointed out by Tericho is that there is Boxy Boo's colors EVERYWHERE and we see a Boxy Boo head right next to the Boxy Boo colored box. Coincidence, I think not. Well thats all that I really have today so ... HDJDNNSJDH
I couldn't see the silhouette of the crow in the Ch3 trailer. I'd figured the bird would be the prototype but then after the 'Idol' from ch3 was shown to me, my image on 1006 was changed. The crow was probably the one that attacked Kissy missy, for it was leaked in the ch3 trailer FOR A REASON and further evidence states the screeches were that of a bird.
i realized somthing the last nightmare critter is a shark and in chapter 3 there was a hidden area that had a interactive boat in it, and you finish area here you find a pirate chest i wonder if that area proved we meant to see some of the nightmare critters in chapter 3....
I do remember a lot of people theorizing that the next antagonist for chapter3 would be a giant bird maybe we’ll get a giant Poe in chapter4. what if when they cut the toy store part they cut the nightmare critters too we probably would’ve seen them in chapter 3 but it would’ve made the game too long? I could be wrong but idk.
In fact, the developers said that these characters were designed in January shortly after the third chapter of the story was uploaded, so they cannot appear in the advertisement. !🤡
I see so many people saying this so 1. They said this before Poe was revealed 2. If this was true they wouldn’t spoil it, they’d keep it a secret. 3. There’s no other reason for all the bird imagery, Poe could’ve been scrapped from Chapter 3 and used later, or something else.
fun fact: in the poppy playtime chapter 3 teaser trailer we coul'd see somthing that looks like a rabbit and it coul'd be catnap's prototype version cuz catnap was orignally a rabbit in the drawings but scrapped and became a cat
Can I just say there might be other hidden secrets in chapter 3 that did point out these characters we just never bothered to look into it. Also remember Ollie, we don’t know who he is. And if these critters can talk just like the other ones what if secretly one of these is Ollie. And Ollie was tricking us into coming into his territory. Thee is no way either that Poppy does not know one of these characters since it seems like she knew the rest of them. And if she was locked up in her case all of this time how would she really know all these other toys…including Ollie?
I hope we see more of the Critters next season , I always felt like we didn’t see enough of the smilers in chapter 3. Maybe the nightmare critters and the rest of the smiling critters will have a huge showdown next chapter !! Or what if the Nightmare Critters turn out to actually be good and on our side as a protagonist?
hate to ruin your theories but all of those time you see eyes lurking in the dark, is actually catnap himself..... if you checked horrorscoped's videos that he explored the things inside and behind those doors you can see catnap's model being used to sort of stalks the player
No no no. Listen here people! The developers didn’t even know that the Nightmare Critters would be in Chapter 4, they even said this. After wrapping things up with Chapter 3, they began brainstorming new ideas for Chapter 4. They did not think this far ahead. It would have been cool if they did, but the NC’s are a concept that came to be after the release of Chapter 3.
There is absolutely nothing to say that Poe wasn't made before and they just incorporated them into the nightmare critter line later. Poe actually looks more like a smiling critter to me. Could definitely have been cut and pushed back to chapter 4, then they decided to do a whole new range.
I have a theroy: if you look you can see that the ONLY nightmare Critter that doesn't look at the camera is BABA CHOPS And The fact that her desgin is the only simple one..
What if the time-line for little nightmares starts of with little nightmares 2 then very little nightmares then little nightmare because in little nightmares 2 they find the raincoat at a place that's not close to the sea water which is impossible to happen because the main character from very little nightmares falls into the water so my theory is little nightmares 2 happens first and after mono falls and the girl with the yellow rain coat escapes the pale city leading to the events of very little nightmares and when she falls into the sea she will eventually be lead to the maw
the drawing in the ch3 trailer is interesting, though i've seen the developers say that poe and the other new critters were made after chapter 4's production began so the evidence sadly might not be intentional 😔

This illness theory makes that one VHS from chapter 3 makes even MORE sense! The kid asked why Kevin was taken away - they automatically asked if he was SICK. Why would being sick be the first thing possible? Why not adopted, why not injured, why not in trouble? It was automatically 'sick' which the doctor leaned into right away - being sick was a NORMAL status of the kids. As kids get sick in the real world it's easy to gloss over but to be the first season a friend is taken away? That's very telling that 'sick' is far more common for these orphans. Such a small detail but just adds another layer of depth to the story!
And the adults who were not aware of the Bigger Body Initiative would be told they were adopted or just unavailable for unexplained reasons

I’ve had this theory that the nightmare critters are the results of when the teen orphans age out of the foster system when they turn 17. It makes sense because there couldn’t have been just young orphans, there had to have been teenage orphans too. They had to have been running playcare for at least 10 years.
I wouldn’t be shocked at there being teenage orphans. Teenagers don’t get adopted as much as babies or younger children, and I also wouldn’t be shocked if playtime recruited the kids who never ended up getting adopted or became toys.

Plus, it can tie into the one tape from chapter 3, when the couple were adopting someone from playcare. What if that person they wanted to adopt was a teen?

The developers said on fan discord that the Nightmare Critters aren’t going to be main antagonist of chapter four. Not to mention their creation was only couple months back so Poe dating back to last year during teasers for chapter 3 doesn’t make sense. Plus Poe is more of a crow because their wings are blunted and splayed. Virus theory does have a strong bases behind it and I believe that chapter might go into that with what happened in research areas of factory.
Could be that they had an idea for a bird toy.

I've been thinking these critters were developed to do the same thing the bigger bodies did, but more out of desperation to keep them alive in some form. Like that line that mentions living long enough to become the bad guy.

Why are we all assuming these are the bad guys when Playtime has lied and convinced us otherwise to not trust anything the company says before? After all Catnap was supposed to be one of the good guys, and Dogday, we saw what happened to him not without him trying. What if the Nightmare Critters are... nicer people than we think instead of being evil or monsters? What if the twist si they end up being protagonists or dark allies in our fight against PlaytimeCo.'s dark secrets?

I have a theory that Poe was a scrapped version of Catnap and that he was originally going to be the main antagonist for chapter 3 until he was switched out with Catnap. All of the clues that hinted towards the chapter 3 villain were reminiscent of a bird like character which couldn't have been referring to Catnap

When I first heard the name Poe and saw this new Nightmare Critter I immediately thought of Edgar Allan Poe and ravens, so thank you for exploring this in your theory. With the idea of sick children, I wonder if a big bodies version of Poe would look like a plague doctor? That would very likely give the children nightmares, just a thought. Looking forward to your future theories.

I haven’t heard your whole theory yet, but I always thought that the moth-like/bird-like child’s drawing was meant to show CatNap in his worship pose, since that’s the only time we see him stand on two legs. Still, I’ll listen to and probably agree with your theory.
As for the eyes being lost on many of the small toys, corvids (crows, ravens, magpies, etc) are well know to seak out shiny things and put them in thier nests or stashes. Maybe the eyes of those poor small toys were shiny enough to cause poe to go on a killing/eye collecting spree. We never saw catnap or any other ch3 enemies targeting eyes so poe being the culprit is reasonable, I believe. It was a weirdly specific detail to never really get explained. Plus, theres a new line of destroyed smiling critter plushes coming out which I bet also have eyes hanging out or missing, bringing up that strabge detail again.
I still think the origins of the nightmare critters is they were invented to be teenagers but they were not popular so playtime co decided to bury them and forgotten until the hour of joy where they feast on the dead bodies.
another option is they couldve been created close to the hour of joy? if another theory that the nightmare critters were made from orphans that aged out of the playcare is correct the living versions wouldve been made toward the end of the factory being active. what we see in game could be concept toys that never made it to production or toys that started being made but never shipped.
When they released the smiling critters cartoon, the developers emphasyzed the importance on the clock changing from 10:05 to 10:06. As far as I know, that hadn't been figured out yet. Could it be possible that poe is connected to this? When the teaser poster of the foot on huggy was released, i had a hard time believing that it was anything other than a bird due to the shape of the foot and the claws. it looked too awkward for it to be something like a cat. Maybe poe was originally supposed to be in ch.3. Also, catnap being the one that shredded huggy seems to direct for him when you compare it to his actions in the game. Catnap seams relatively docile with how many opportunities he had to shred the player. He doesn't actually attack us until the end, where we essentially force his hand to attack us

As someone who enjoys the works of Edgar Allan Poe, The naming of their crow friend makes me very happy. The problem is, the thing that has me absolutely FLOORED is their jump from "Baba Chops" (cute Baba Yaga reference, thank you Cooking Companions for making her horrendous relevant again) and then Poe the crow after Edgar Allan Poe, to suddenly RABIE BABY?????? WHAT HAPPENED-
I don't think all of them need an extremely serious name I love rabie baby because the name is cute and awesome it's different not everything needs to be inspired off of a real person or anything these aren't real people but fun toys I love that they chose fun names not all serious names for their characters as they don't need it the names are fine Poe and baba chops are fine the only name I question is the rat really but his name could hint to something dark from this everyone has a dark juicy story their name's shouldn't really stop you from enjoying it

A common way to get rabbies is if a rabid animal bites you, and the most common animal to get rabies from for humans are bats, so I think it'sa reference to that
Rabie Baby is probably based off the fact that bats are one of the major carriers of Rabies, thank you NaturalHabitatShorts for reminding me of that.
It could also indicate that less effort was being put into the Critters brand at the point the Nightmare Critters were created to try to revitalize it and some of the names had more thought put into them than others.

It could mean that Poe and Rabie Baby, maybe even Simon Smokes, who all can fly, are the "angels". They're either dark scary twisted angels, or actually guardian angels that are nicer than they seem.

I think having to use what’s commonly called a /black/light to reveal letters is to indicate the intrinsic oppositional / contradictory themes for the next chapter. As in both ‘dark’ ‘smiling’ critters, but also life through death etc.
So far I think Poe and baba chops are the characters to be the important antagonist in this chapter and also just so anybody knows non of nightmare critters are going to be the main antagonist

I feel like they are trying to get us to look at Poe more specifically with that name because all the others have some kind of name that either reference their animal or personality, but, Poe? Just Poe? If it was a Crow then they probably could of just said something like Poe Crow (or change that w for a e for fun) but they don’t. It seems like they are keeping it ambiguous on whether Poe is a crow or raven because we can outright tell with the other ones that have been released (and guessing by the logo the last ones probably a shark) and like you said, there is a story by someone named Edgar Allen *Poe* featuring a Raven being a main part of it. Combined with everything you said, there just seems to be too many hints that Poe can't NOT be important.

one thing that i noticed is that in toullies description, it talks about him collecting trash, so maybe that where the pile of toys came from.
If Poe WAS in the C3 trailer, then it couldn't be in the sealed underground as we open it at the end. Poe could be who attacked Kissy at the end being another one of 1006 deciples following us around C3. The trailer stated something about "every shadow" and Poe also lurks in the dark... Based on this theory, I think we will start C4 taking a wounded Kissy down underground to get medical treatment without knowing what attacked her as Poe ran and flew away before we got back up there. Poe will later then later fly down the same elevator to confront and become a big bad.

Ravens in Celtic lore are guardians. It is not unreasonable to assume that Poe sees himself as a, albeit misguided, guardian figure. Sort of an extreme Batman situation. He watches from a distance and dispenses justice in the form of eye gougings. He keeps order by instilling fear.
Ravens are also depicted as messengers so a bird cult relaying information back to 1006 is also likely.
This is a great theory. At first, I kinda thought the naming of Poe the Crow was just an easy smash-grab at evoking emo teenager themes, but relating it to being an orphan and tuberculosis was really insightful. Well done Tericho *golf claps*

Oh I didn't expect the heart since it was like 2 a.m in the morning when I sent it... I'm British too soooo yeah...
(I need that juicy lore ok, time is just a number when new lore drops and seriously, you with Herobrine eyes is cursed) didn't expect it, Poppy Playtime is the only game I got interested in enough to learn the lore because of Chapter 2 (ay, if my favourite UA-camrs play it then its worth a shot) since it looked so cool and stuff... now I know its a bit more obvious its creepy and inhumane but dang I know too much lore, I'm committed now and I have no escape, and FakeFox's theory with Harley being immortal is good and Ludwig/1006/The Prototype not being able to leave due to all these poor creations (I'm sure Harley would've liked to have used something more like "abominations, my helpless indentured slaves") having these poor children souls inside of them, and he can't leave them since his heart is gold... (I think our protagonist (I'm turning into a theorist at this point, either that or the side effects of staying up until quarter past 3 have taken finally their toll) will eventually find out why 1006 needs them and why he has placed the grueling murder on his hands... bro this lore is so sad.
But about that sly fact that the bigger bodies need food... I need explanations, Ludwig but I have some myself.
I saw this theory I don't remember about why the toys like (not need, *like*) food (any, usually cannibalistic but any flesh works as we've seen, so long as its fresh) it was about a Soviet experiment done like nearing the end of the Soviet Union (ironic since Playtime Co. was always nearly there) where these scientists just slapped some people into a room without food (I believe they did get some food and water, but extremely rarely), and when they checked on them there was blood everywhere, the tested were skinny and boney, but the main thing was that they were missing flesh... they ate themselves and they got used to it and liked it, so they kept doing it and couldn't stop it (something like an alcohol addiction or any in general I think. Probably more specifically pure 100% Vodka)and then there was only like 1 guy or something left (they ate each other) . This doesn't explain much for the BBI experiments but for the little ones it opens up possibilities...
Anyway if they cooked with Chapter 3 then Chapter 4 gonna be fire 🔥🔥🔥

We do know they were working on chapter 4 pre-pre production while making chapter 3. So I wonder if when they decided to scrap the toy store, water area, and original "prison" ideas, they did so just to combined them in new ways for chapter 4. Thoughts?

Sorry this doesn't really deal with the smiling critters that much but- Throughout each chapter the Prototype (experiment 1006) leaves clues of his existence, until chapter 2 when he finally shows he does exist, and that those 'claw marks' weren't from the other dolls. Mob Entertainment (Mob Games) seems to have a lot of fun leaving us with more questions than answers. In the chapter 3 trailer and leaked images we see something that we think is the prototype, just to find in game that it is just an area where CatNap can "worship" the prototype. Now everyone (or at least most if us) thought Poppy Playtime was dark enough in chapters 1 and 2, then when chapter 3 came along we saw the true darkness of the games storyline. Chapter 3 was a whole lot longer and darker than chapters 1 and 2, it answered few questions as of "Who is the next antagonist?" Or stuff similar to that. But we still got left with a ton of questions like "why didn't we get to see the prototype? Why was miss delight out to eat the other teachers when the vending machines were full of food? What was Miss Delight "protecting" the kids from? Who is Ollie? Where are all the bodies? Is someone still alive in the factory? Is Poppy evil? What happened to Kissy Missy?" And there is still a butt load more questions, but you get the idea of what I'm trying to say. In the beginning of chapter 2 we wake up to Poppy's case swung open and the hallway (in which we came down at the end of chapter 1) is blocked off, and now the door that we saw in chapter 1 in no longer baracaded. Now at first I thought Poppy had done all this, but later in the chapter we see that Poppy can't even break out of a simple web, so how can she manage to move a heavy dresser, and all the toys and furniture in the room, yet still be incapable of breaking a simple web? Poppy also never seemed to talk about the prototype. And even though for a majority of the chapter she was locked up again because of Mommy Long Legs, she still had plenty of time to tell us about him before she got locked away. It seems like she had been working with him, or some of the other dolls to either trap us in the factory or kill us. We travel throught he Game Station and work our way through the games, then realize that Statues is impossible and that Mommy was trying to kill us, so we "cheat". Mommy gets upset by this so we have our chase scene, blablabla, you know the game. Then we rescue Poppy, but she just seems off. The player continues listening to Poppy and working with her, just to get to the train, chug off, and Poppy betrays us. I think that Poppy found the true plans of either the Prototype or one of the other dolls and didn't like them, but they wouldn't compromise so Poppy took over for herself. That's why she seemed so different. That's why she didn't want us to leave. Either that or with Tericho's theory he says Poppy could be afraid of the real world, that they wouldn't like her, she knew they'd want to experiment on her, since she was a talking doll after all. After Poppy realizes this she decides that we can't leave either. So she takes us deeper into the factory, where we get into a train crash and chapter 2 ends. We begin chapter 3 with CatNap dropping us into a weird pipe looking thing. After that we solve some puzzles, get to do some parkour and see tiny glimpses of Catnap along the way. Our first interaction with Poppy in this chapter she was with Kissy Missy. She tells us we need to end the prototype and she tells us Catnap is the LAST mini boss we need to defeat before the prototype, well that wad obviously a lie. We end up going against Miss Delight, The Smiling Critters, and Nightmare Huggy before we FINALLY get to have our battle with CatNap, where he gets electrocuted -again- and catches on fire for a moment and almost dies, the the prototype just shows up and puts CatNap "put of his misery". I still question why the prototype sends these dolls after us, but he won't come after us himself. After that we make our ways through the halls back to Poppy and Kissy where Poppy tells us about the Hour of Joy and shows us the tape. We have a sad moment, then we get on the big elevator thingy and we start heading down. We hear screeching and Kissy screaming and scratches, bites, and pretty much all the usually war stuff. Poppy gets worried and chapter 3 ends. Now at the end of chapter 3 we were supposed to go down the elevator to get to the "bodies" before the Kissy incident happened. As I said before Poppy had lied about CatNap being the last doll we have to fight before the prototype, and with the chapter 4 teaser it seems like she still is. In the teaser we see a sheep Smiling Critter (it looks like something from Murder Drones tbh) eating a DogDay Smiling critter that tried eating a dead Bobby Bearhug Smiling Critter. There were some minor hidden details in that but it was a short teaser and there wasn't anything super special, but what was pointed out by Tericho is that there is Boxy Boo's colors EVERYWHERE and we see a Boxy Boo head right next to the Boxy Boo colored box. Coincidence, I think not. Well thats all that I really have today so ... HDJDNNSJDH

I couldn't see the silhouette of the crow in the Ch3 trailer. I'd figured the bird would be the prototype but then after the 'Idol' from ch3 was shown to me, my image on 1006 was changed. and in chapter 3 there was a hidden area that had a interactive boat in it, and you finish area here you find a pirate chest
i wonder if that area proved we meant to see some of the nightmare critters in chapter 3....
I do remember a lot of people theorizing that the next antagonist for chapter3 would be a giant bird maybe we’ll get a giant Poe in chapter4. what if when they cut the toy store part they cut the nightmare critters too we probably would’ve seen them in chapter 3 but it would’ve made the game too long? I see so many people saying this so
1. They said this before Poe was revealed
2. If this was true they wouldn’t spoil it, they’d keep it a secret.
3. There’s no other reason for all the bird imagery, Poe could’ve been scrapped from Chapter 3 and used later, or something else.
fun fact: in the poppy playtime chapter 3 teaser trailer we coul'd see somthing that looks like a rabbit and it coul'd be catnap's prototype version cuz catnap was orignally a rabbit in the drawings but scrapped and became a cat
Can I just say there might be other hidden secrets in chapter 3 that did point out these characters we just never bothered to look into it. Also remember Ollie, we don’t know who he is. And if these critters can talk just like the other ones what if secretly one of these is Ollie. And Ollie was tricking us into coming into his territory. Thee is no way either that Poppy does not know one of these characters since it seems like she knew the rest of them. And if she was locked up in her case all of this time how would she really know all these other toys…including Ollie?

I hope we see more of the Critters next season , I always felt like we didn’t see enough of the smilers in chapter 3. Maybe the nightmare critters and the rest of the smiling critters will have a huge showdown next chapter !! Or what if the Nightmare Critters turn out to actually be good and on our side as a protagonist?

hate to ruin your theories but all of those time you see eyes lurking in the dark, is actually catnap himself..... if you checked horrorscoped's videos that he explored the things inside and behind those doors you can see catnap's model being used to sort of stalks the player

No no no. Listen here people! The developers didn’t even know that the Nightmare Critters would be in Chapter 4, they even said this. After wrapping things up with Chapter 3, they began brainstorming new ideas for Chapter 4. They did not think this far ahead. It would have been cool if they did, but the NC’s are a concept that came to be after the release of Chapter 3.
There is absolutely nothing to say that Poe wasn't made before and they just incorporated them into the nightmare critter line later. Poe actually looks more like a smiling critter to me. Could definitely have been cut and pushed back to chapter 4, then they decided to do a whole new range.

I have a theroy: if you look you can see that the ONLY nightmare Critter that doesn't look at the camera is BABA CHOPS And The fact that her desgin is the only simple one..

What if the time-line for little nightmares starts of with little nightmares 2 then very little nightmares then little nightmare because in little nightmares 2 they find the raincoat at a place that's not close to the sea water which is impossible to happen because the main character from very little nightmares falls into the water so my theory is little nightmares 2 happens first and after mono falls and the girl with the yellow rain coat escapes the pale city leading to the events of very little nightmares and when she falls into the sea she will eventually be lead to the maw
That cannot be possible since we see Six in Very Little Nightmares and she doesn't have the raincoat there. The playable character in VLN is not Six.
All this informations link well to Poe, but why does he alone have all this lore?
